'I was at that late night meeting at the Las Vegas Hilton. Elvis wanted to tour overseas. He wanted to go to Australia. He wanted to go to Japan. The Colonel said, 'if you go I am not going to go with you'. Elvis said 'that's fine, you are fired'.

'Elvis and Me': Memorializing Elvis Presley

Priscilla Presley: 'I start my show off saying, 'You're probably wondering why I'm doing this'. I think it's time. Review : No matter where you listen, Elvis By Request captivates

Yesterday, [August 25] Sony Music Australia's Elvis By Request: The Australian Fan Edition arrived here - so I thought I'd take a few moments to present a brief review. Worldwide, but with a special emphasis on Australia, fans were able to select from over 800 Elvis performances in online voting earlier this year. The ranked results of that voting determined the contents of 'Elvis By Request', 40 songs spread over two CDs.

Elvis By Request : Equal Highest Debut on Record

Checking on chart statistics we can tell you that Elvis By Request : The Australian Edition CD is only the second Elvis Presley album since records were reasonably kept [From 1965] to debut at No. 4 in Australia. The other album being Elvis : 2nd To None in 2003, however that album had the benefit of the Rubberneckin' remix single [A No. 3 chart hit] as promotion and also being the follow up to the previous year's ultra-smash hit album, ELV1S : 30 #1 Hits. And it is ELV1S : 30 #1 Hits that holds the record with a No. 1 debut and then four weeks in total at No. 1, and with 60 weeks on the charts. Elvis : 2nd To None was on the chart for 16 weeks and has Gold award sales status. But again, not to be out done, ELV1S : 30 #1 Hits is 2 x Platinum. While it is very hard to achieve Gold status today, we do hope that Elvis By Request can achieve this.

Elvis By Request : The Australian Edition CD debuts at No. 4

The Elvis By Request : The Australian Edition CD has debuted at No. 4 on the Australian ARIA Album Charts. This is the equal highest chart position of any release since ELV1S : 30 #1 Hits [2002] 10 years ago. Three albums, Elvis : 2nd To None [2003], Elvis : The King [2007] and The Romantic [1994] reached No. 4 however not on debut. From The Heart peaked at No. 5 in 1992 and 'Presley : All Time Greatest Hits' No. 7 the previous year. Elvis Presley : 50 Australian Top Ten Hits 1956-1977 debuted at No. 9 in January 2010. The 'Elvis By Request' album contains the 40 favourite Elvis songs as voted for by his Australian fans. To debut at No. 4 is a most remarkable achievement particularly at this time of year. While the album has benefited from some very clever marketing from Sony Music, all the promotion in the world won't sell a turkey, so clearly the concept has appealed as we expected it would. So with a great concept, title, cover art, fan picked track listing and the massive media coverage of the release we have Elvis riding high on the charts once more.

Tracklisting : Elvis By Request : The Australian Fan Edition CD

In June 2012 and over 3 weeks over 5000 Australian fans logged onto www.elvisbyrequest.com.au and voted for their favourite Elvis Presley songs. The votes have been tallied, the CDs manufactured and fans will be able to pick up their copy of Elvis By Request from Thursday, 16th August.

Huge Promotion for : Elvis By Request : The Australian Edition CD : August 16

We are now one week away from the August 16 release of the Elvis By Request : The Australian Edition CD and Sony Music Australia has organized a huge promotion for the release. Be watching the channel 7 'Sunrise' program next Thursday morning, August 16, from 7:30am for what will be the biggest promotion for an Elvis CD release ever and which should make headlines around the world. If you miss it, check this website later in the day for video coverage, and/or the evening TV news. 'Elvis By Request' is as the title suggests a compilation of Elvis' most popular songs as voted for by his Australian fans online between June 4 and July 13, 2012. Fans were able to select their choice from a list containing over 800 Elvis Presley recordings.

Elvis By Request : The Australian Edition CD

Australia Elvis By Request : The Australian Edition CD + Exclusive Fan Edition Poster : * This is a very special 40 track double CD release where Australian Fans vote for their favourite Elvis track from a listing of every master track. This will then turn into a release to mark the 35th Anniversary since Elvis' passing. The voting promotion is from Monday June 4 until Friday July 13 and then from this Sony will get the album track listing for the album. Pre-order the CD online before July 13 for your name to be included with other Australian fans on an exclusive fan edition poster.
