The actor, who fought in the U.S. Army at the Battle of the Bulge in World War Two, got his big break when actor Gregory Peck saw him in a theater production in 1950, which led to a contract with film studio MGM.
In 1954, Mr. Forrest shared a Golden Globe Award as Most Promising Newcomer Male with actors Hugh O'Brien and Richard Egan, (Egan co-starred with Elvis in 'Love Me Tender' in 1956.) Steve Forrest worked in such films as 'The Longest Day', 'The Deerslayer', 'North Dallas Forty' and 'Mommie Dearest'. He also has had a number of roles in TV series including 'Dallas'. But he was best known for a leading role as Lt. Hondo Harrelson on the ABC crime drama series 'S.W.A.T.', which ran for 37 episodes from 1975 to 1976.
Steve Forrest played Clint Burton, half brother to Elvis' character Pacer in Flaming Star.
