NOW, we can reveal that some members of Elvis' TCB Band are at work in Memphis.
In February 1976, forty years ago, Elvis' last recording sessions was in his 'den', now known as 'The Jungle Room', at his Graceland home in Memphis, not in a 'regular' recording studio. The FTD release of the 'Jungle Room Sessions' is the most popular and best-selling CD of the 100+ releases from the Follow That Dream label.
Recently, the TCB Band worked in secret on a special project at the recording studio 'Sam Phillips Recording', located on Madison Avenue. Also the people from Sony Music Entertainment were present, and Ernst Jorgensen, (Follow That Dream FTD). Also guitar player James Burton, piano player David Briggs, drummer Ronnie Tutt and bass player Norbert Putnam were at Graceland, and in particular in the Jungle Room. Expectations are that a new album will be released by Sony Legacy Recordings, a special release around the Jungle Room Sessions to celebrate the fortieth anniversary of the legendary recordings. In the photo above are (with others) James Burton, piano player David Briggs, John Jackson (Sony), Ernst Jorgensen, Halley Phillips, granddaughter of the late Sam Phillips, the founder of both Sun Studio and Sun Records in Memphis, Tennessee. Norbert Putnam, and Ronnie Tutt.
Through Sun, Sam Phillips discovered such recording talent as Howlin' Wolf, Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Johnny Cash. The height of his success culminated in his launching of Elvis Presley's career in 1954.
