Elvis Reviews, Elvis CD Reviews, By David Troedson
This 2 CD set is an absolute delight. Mastered from a high a resolution 24 bit master, the sound quality is perfect and very easy on the ear.
Making a tracklisting, formatting the song order is an art, and with both CDs in this set in my opinion they have achieved this philosophy, giving us a fantastic double CD compilation with each song complementing the one before it with songs from 1954, 1955 and 1956.
In the packaging department, unlike Sony BMG's pathetic effort with the recent Early Elvis, that not only did not have a booklet, not even a folded cover insert -- but simply a one piece paper insert that is easily damaged upon opening he case -- this double CD set comes with a four page booklet that does not move on opening.
Also the front, back and disc art is very nice. BMG take note!!!
The only down side to this set is the booklet just mentioned, it does contain some mistakes, such as claiming Elvis' first number one (Country chart) was 'Mystery Train' rather than the flip side 'I Forgot To Remember To Forget' which was the one that reached the top of the charts for Elvis first in February 1956.
With 20 tracks on each disc and a playing time of around 47 minutes on each the producers have also settled on what I have always found to be the perfect length.
If you like Elvis' 50s recordings - and who does not! - then we recommend The Very Best of Elvis Presley very highly to you.

* 48 Hours To Memphis is actually not stereo but it has been mixed from a two track tape and very high quality 'hi-fi' and not only is it not a soundboard it compares perfectly with normal stereo releases.
Video Preview: Tupelo's Own Elvis Presley DVD
Tupelo's Own Elvis Presley DVD. Digipack with a 16 page booklet. Never before have we seen an Elvis concert from the 50's with sound. Until Now! The DVD Contains recently discovered Unreleased Film of Elvis performing 6 songs, including Heartbreak Hotel and Don’t Be Cruel, live in Tupelo Mississippi 1956. Included we see a live performance of the elusive Long Tall Sally seen here for the first time ever. This is an excellent release no fan should be without it. The 'parade' footage is good to see as it puts you in the right context with color and b&w footage. The interviews of Elvis' Parents are well worth hearing too. The afternoon show footage is wonderful and electrifying : Here is Elvis in his prime rocking and rolling in front of 11.000 people.
