Review - Blue Hawaii FTD CD

Blue Hawaii is rightfully placed at the top of the Elvis Presley movie list. Both the soundtrack and film are truly essential Elvis. They both represent the Elvis that we would like to remember. Another fabulous soundtrack release from FTD, The alternate 'album' of First Takes works extremely well and the packaging is very stylish. The newly remixed audio quality is astounding - especially on the outtakes. With this release FTD corrects the error with the 1997 issued CD where they incorrectly reversed the stereo channels.

Review - Elvis 75: Good Rockin' Tonight, First Definitive 4-CD Overview of Entire Recording Career

Everything has been digitally remastered which has given it a crystal-clear sound. In addition there is an 80-page booklet which includes a 7,000-word essay by Billy Altman, rare photos, and copious information on every track. Elvis 75 may not be for everyone but it is a fine addition to the Elvis Presley legacy. If you have avoided his box sets in the past or are a fan who must have everything then this is a must purchase.

Review : From Nashville To Memphis: The Essential 60's Masters 5 CD Box

During the 1960's Elvis Presley produced a lot of good material, but some not so good as well. From Nashville To Memphis: The Essential 60's Masters, which covers 5 CD's and 130 tracks, gathers most of his superior material and fortunately ignores a great deal of the inferior. His best albums from the period - Pot Luck, Elvis Is Back, and Something For Everybody -- are presented in their entireties. Even better, RCA has done a good job remastering these tracks (from their original sources) as the sound is pristine.

Review: Aloha From Hawaii CD

Elvis Presley performed before a worldwide television audience of over one billion people on January 14, 1973. Elvis looked good, performed, well and sang superbly. Aloha From Hawaii remains one of the essential releases by Elvis Presley and no serious music collection should be without a copy.

Review : Christmas duets with Elvis Presley

Elvis Presley Christmas Duets CD is a must for all Elvis fans who must have thought they will never again get new recordings from their king. It is also a good addition to this year's harvest of new holiday albums, which seems to be turning out one of the most varied and interesting.

Review - Elvis Country (I'm 10,000 Years Old) CD

Elvis Country (I'm 10,000 Years Old) is one of the few albums that sticks to just one type of music. This cohesiveness was appreciated by the buying public and it reached number six on the country charts and number 12 on the pop charts. Elvis Country is a superb country outing for Elvis, possibly his best work.

Review - Elvis As Recorded At Madison Square Garden CD

Elvis As Recorded At Madison Square Garden was issued in June of 1972. While this album only reached Number 11 on the Billboard charts, it would go on to sell more than 3 million copies. This album was also a recording of a complete concert rather than a pieced together affair. That fact gives the listener an accurate feel of an actual 1970's Elvis concert.

Review : From Elvis In Memphis CD

The album, From Elvis In Memphis, was a mix of country, rhythm & blues and rock 'n' roll songs. The album, released June 17, 1969, would be a huge pop hit and also reach number 2 on the national country charts.

Review: G.I. Blues CD

G.I. Blues was the first Elvis movie released after his discharge from the army in 1960. It is not among my favorite three Elvis films but might make the top five or six. It sneaks up on you and provides some light and ultimately enjoyable entertainment. This romantic comedy co-starred Juliet Prowse of whom Elvis stated, 'She has a body that would make a bishop stomp his foot through a stained glass window'.

Review - Something For Everybody FTD 2 CD

Something For Everybody is one of those Elvis Presley albums that just glides under the radar. Yet playing it almost forty years later is a pleasurable listening experience that just slides by the senses.

Review - Elvis Is Back! CD

Elvis Presley was discharged from the army on March 5, 1960 - His first album Elvis Is Back may have been the most important album of his career. There had been several releases while he was in the service, but he had been out of the public eye. His young fans were now a couple of years older. Things change quickly within the music world and fame can be fleeting. Did Elvis still have it? The answer was a resounding yes.

Review - His Hand In Mine CD

Elvis Presley released his first full gospel album on November 10, 1960. He had previously released the four song EP, Peace In The Valley, whose tracks also appeared on the Elvis Christmas Album. His Hand In Mine, however, was a full studio effort featuring classic gospel and spiritual songs of the day.

Music Review: Elvis Presley - Elvis: The King Of Rock 'N' Roll - The Complete 50's Masters

If you want to celebrate some of the best music in history and the roots of rock 'n' roll, this box set Elvis: The King Of Rock 'N' Roll – The Complete 50's Masters is the place to start.

Review: Elvis Presley (LPM-1254), Elvis, Loving You, King Creole & Elvis' Christmas Album CDs

Many people believe that the rock 'n' roll era began May 5, 1956 when the album, Elvis Presley, reached Number One on the National charts for the first of ten weeks. It was a far different sound than the other best selling albums of the day which included Belafonte by Harry Belafonte, The Man With The Golden Arm soundtrack, and Songs For Swingin' Lovers by Frank Sinatra.

Review: Viva Las Vegas FTD CD

1964 was a very busy year for Elvis Presley. Three movies, two soundtracks, one EP, assorted singles, his pursuit of Priscilla, and a public affair left very little time for anything else. Viva Las Vegas was one of Elvis’ best movies that did not have a complete soundtrack release at the time. That oversight has now been corrected. This release of the movie soundtrack by FTD in their Special Edition Movie Soundtrack series features improved re-mastering of both the original LP and the bonus alternate takes and much more....
