Loving You FTD CD
|
It contains the seven songs seen in the movie, alongside the other five studio tracks that were originally released on the 1957 vinyl album.
This 2 CD special edition also includes bonus masters, movie versions and numerous outtakes presented with original artwork and upgraded sound.
The booklet inside contains many great photos from the movie and recording sessions as well as detailed timeline and recording session information.
Disc 1 has a 69-minute running time with 31 tracks.
There are 4 previously unreleased tracks, three new versions of Loving You and one of Mean Woman Blues. These come from the recently acquired Paramount Sound Stage tapes, where Elvis was unhappy at having to work there. Following the original album tracks are all the remaining singles and non-gospel masters from the January and February sessions at the Radio Recorders Studio in Hollywood. The restoration and sound quality improvements bring a new clarity to all the tracks, with the Blueberry Hill and Got A Lot O' Livin' To Do! acetates sounding much better.
Disc 2 focuses on the February 14 session, with a 67-minute running time and 48 tracks. There are two different versions of Loving You (HZ and KX) presented in mono, as well as takes 1-15 of the KX version in binaural. While not something that many people will play continuously on a regular basis, this track listing shouldn't detract potential buyers from the intention of this release. This second disc provides listeners with a better understanding of the recording process, trying out different phrasing, arrangements and tempo changes. It illustrates how hard Elvis worked in the studio, striving for the right feel of the master take. Although some outtakes have been previously available on other releases, here they are gathered in the correct sequence with the best possible sound quality.
With FTD's version of the Loving You soundtrack, fans can now finally enjoy hearing all the masters and outtakes from these sessions in the one comprehensive package. Releasing of newly acquired tapes and sound improvements will satisfy many collectors and fans. The generous running times also provide value for money, and surpass all the previous compilations and reissues.

* 48 Hours To Memphis is actually not stereo but it has been mixed from a two track tape and very high quality 'hi-fi' and not only is it not a soundboard it compares perfectly with normal stereo releases.
Video Preview: Tupelo's Own Elvis Presley DVD
Tupelo's Own Elvis Presley DVD. Digipack with a 16 page booklet. Never before have we seen an Elvis concert from the 50's with sound. Until Now! The DVD Contains recently discovered Unreleased Film of Elvis performing 6 songs, including Heartbreak Hotel and Don’t Be Cruel, live in Tupelo Mississippi 1956. Included we see a live performance of the elusive Long Tall Sally seen here for the first time ever. This is an excellent release no fan should be without it. The 'parade' footage is good to see as it puts you in the right context with color and b&w footage. The interviews of Elvis' Parents are well worth hearing too. The afternoon show footage is wonderful and electrifying : Here is Elvis in his prime rocking and rolling in front of 11.000 people.
