To be released soon is 'St. Louis Blues' (label E.P. Collector, EPC 2013-01) recorded from the audience at the St. Louis, March 22, 1976 tour closing show. It was last Elvis show during his lifetime, reviewed in 'Rolling Stone' #213. Some of Elvis stable musicians were replaced and the result was surprisingly fresh sound with keyboards more prominent. Among the highlights are 'Let Me Be There' (performed for very last time), 'Steamroller Blues', 'Polk Salad Annie', 'Hurt' and 'America (The Beautiful)'. Since the show is rather short, producers decided to add 9 solid bonus tracks from Johnson City, March 19, 1976 show.

And perhaps as is to be expected, this is the best production to-date, with many photos dated, mainly in the 1954/1955 section. [For reasons I will explain below]. The book features mostly high quality images and a vast amount of interesting reading via original articles penned for this release along with newspaper reprints from the relevant time.

This 6th Las Vegas season has been somewhat overlooked by bootleggers, mainly due to the below-par sound quality of the audience recorded tapes available. The last few years, the Straight Arrow team has been looking for good sounding amateur recordings from this particular season, and we are pleased to announced that we finally succeeded in locating two very good tapes obtained directly from the person who recorded them.

While it is well known that Elvis Presley and Sammy Davis Jr. were good friends, first meeting in the 1950s, maintaining a friendship through the years, now, we have a fantastic photo via a news paper clipping from Jet magazine, February 27, 1958 showing Sammy in full swing imitating Elvis, and what's more, the clipping tells us that Elvis was sitting in the front row, roaring with laughter. Imitations were a big part of Sammy's shows and Elvis was not left out in this regard, with Sammy singing Hound Dog in concert.

The statistics for our Elvis Presley and Racism : The Ultimate, Definitive Guide are astounding; the page has had just under 4000 page views in the past two weeks alone, since we highlighted the article on March 23, which is remarkable. However what is astounding is the average time spent on the page, 1 hour 12 minutes, so people are really reading the article, we can't recall seeing anything like this before.

Here is an amazing image. With a modern day visit to Hawaii and an original photograph, Australian fan Alexander Attard with imagination and the help of some digital editing overlaid an original photo of Elvis in the backyard of a home in Hawaii with his recent photograph of the very same back yard. And we have Elvis Presley in Hawaii 1977 and 2012.

Nevada Nights is an excellent FTD double delight and a chance for fans to obtain these shows in the best sound. The sound features Elvis sort of somewhat up close, up front sort of between Fort Baxter and the DAE (Diamond Anniversary) sound - listenable and warm to the ear ... A great release!. This review, originally published in 2008, we present to you again as it contains many unique songs along with dialogue from Elvis, making it an essential part of any fans collection ... This first CD features the famous opening night : August 19, 1974, where Elvis departed from the conventional opening - not starting with Also Sprach Zarathustra or See See Rider - instead opening with Big Boss Man - and including many songs he had not performed live before.

Petula said of Elvis: 'I wouldn't say we were friends, although we did meet a few times. I think he wanted to be more than friends. Well, I know he did. 'He was doing his big comeback in Vegas, so this was late 60s. I was playing Vegas too but had a night off when my friend Karen Carpenter came to see me. We planned this big girly night out and went to see Elvis' show'.

In 1957, a magazine printed a lie about Elvis, not the first one, not the last one, but one that has been often passed on through the years and at times artists of today like to throw out the slur when needing a headline, so there are those that believe Elvis was racist. Yes, we know that the notion that Elvis was a racist is preposterous. It's as stupid now as it was then, but here is our definitive response to this nonsense. Read more.

Why can't all music releases be this good? Sony/RCA/Legacy have come up trumps with Prince From Another Planet - an Elvis release which celebrates The King's only New York concerts, in Madison Square Garden in the summer of 1972. What most impresses about this set is the packaging. The care and attention that has gone into creating an eight-inch square slipcase, (with the original design respected) a six panel gatefold wallet holding the discs (again with superb artwork) and a 52-page booklet that is everything you want to accompany an archival release - fantastic photography, reproductions of original newspaper reviews, an absorbing essay ... The CD audio in this deluxe edition has been remixed by Michael H. Brauer (mastered by Vic Anesini), the idea being to put the listener in row four of the audience, right in front of the performance .. It sounds superb and vibrant.

In Germany Elvis Presley was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 32nd Armor Regiment, 3rd Armored Division, Ray Barracks, Friedberg. Elvis served with the Division from October 1, 1958 to March 1, 1960. However he spent 6 months at Ft. Hood for basic & advanced training with the 2nd Armored Division, prior to Germany. The December 2012 issue of the 2nd Armored Division's 'Hell On Wheels' 'Bulletin' remembers Elvis in photos and story by Harold Heikkinen who like Elvis, was also transferred to the 3rd Armored Division.

Released : The Complete On Tour Outtakes DVD

The Complete On Tour Outtakes DVD has been released. This is a fantastic new release filled to the brim with outtake material from 'On Tour' (1972). There have already been a couple of releases with this raw footage that - fortunately for us - somehow escaped from the vaults from MGM. You will get to view an enormous amount of material. The producers of this DVD show us there is a treasure trove of material that would make a spectacular official remake of this in 1972 documentary. The producers have made this DVD in chronological order. Starting with the studio rehearsals, on to the rehearsal on the road and then on to the live concerts. Also: from the Madison Square Garden Press Conference (great footage and very sharp close ups of Elvis!) to the Press Conference in Hawaii (November, 1972) to announce 'Aloha From Hawaii' (in very good quality!).
