You'll Never Walk Alone CD From Straight Arrow
17 years ago, the Claudia label released this show in slightly incomplete form, using an unknown generation tape copy of the original recording. Now Straight Arrow have managed to obtain the original (mono) tape directly from the person who recorded it. No edits - and in the best possible sound!
The title-song in particular sounds stunning: a truly goosebump-inducing performance in the best sound quality possible! As most of die-hard fans know, Elvis' July 1975 tour was one of his best. No need to go into big details. His evening Uniondale concert was of the highest quality - a rockin' setlist, rare songs, great mood and brilliant vocal work. As you've come to expect from Straight Arrow, this original recording was completely restored in a studio and the sound was enhanced for the best possible listening pleasure.
The CD package is completed with a standard 16-page booklet, including a collection of photos from the Uniondale 8:30 pm show and a critically written but positive review by Nick Cohn. The 'parade' footage is good to see as it puts you in the right context with color and b&w footage. The interviews of Elvis' Parents are well worth hearing too. The afternoon show footage is wonderful and electrifying : Here is Elvis in his prime rocking and rolling in front of 11.000 people. Highly recommended.
