The set features one show entirely unreleased and complete and newly mixed and mastered shows. First chronicled in part on the album Elvis In Person At The International Hotel 50 years ago, Live 1969 showcases this incredibly, important phase in Elvis' career in definitive detail – his first live shows following his triumphant, 1968 comeback for NBC after an 8-year absence from playing live. This box set features 11 complete sets from the first of his many engagements at The International Hotel (several of which are released in full for the first time, with one show entirely unreleased), allowing fans a more definitive picture of The King's glorious return to the concert stage. The 52-page book includes rare photos, memorabilia and an oral history by Ken Sharp curated from historic interviews with Elvis, Colonel Tom Parker, Tom Jones, Jerry Schilling, and more.
1957 Telegram from Elvis Presley to a young Fan. The young fan was Kristen Peterson, daughter of actor Arthur Peterson, a veteran actor of radio and film, perhaps best known as 'The Major' on the quirky, cult-classic TV series 'Soap'. Kristen had a grand dream - to invite Elvis to her birthday party! Elvis was at the height of his pre-Army career in early 1957 and had to politely decline the invitation. Kristen's disappointment must have been mitigated somewhat by a telegram from the King of Rock and Roll, with the closing, 'All My Love, Elvis Presley'!
Sony Music will release '
Elvis Live 1969' a Limited Edition 2 LP Record Set on August 9.
The story behind Elvis Presley's 1968 Cadillac Eldorado Coupe is well known and it has an incredible history. Elvis Presley spotted this Topaz Gold Firemist beauty parked outside a Memphis Cadillac dealer showroom on December 28, 1967 and decided on the spot that he had to have it. He immediately made it his daily transportation and reportedly used the car for approximately thirteen months. At one point the car would not start and Elvis furthered his reputation for shooting displeasing inanimate objects by deploying his side-arm and plugging the car in the right front fender. The bullet hole still remains there today. Elvis drove the car up until the birth of his daughter, Lisa Marie Presley, on February 1, 1968. A short time afterward, Elvis gave the Cadillac to Priscilla's (step)father as a gift.
Elsa Cárdenas (born 3 August 1935) is a Mexican actress. Since 1954 she has appeared in more than 100 films and television shows. She starred in the film Happiness, which was entered into the 7th Berlin International Film Festival. She acted alongside many stars, including Elvis Presley and James Dean.
Elvis Presley's Draft Card. This is Elvis' Selective Service Registration Certificate -- more commonly referred to as a 'draft card' -- dated January 19, 1953 (11 days after his 18th birthday) and signed along the left edge by Elvis in blue ink and co-signed by a local board clerk along the bottom.
Victrola is proud to present an ultimate 3CD-set of Elvis' 'Clambake' sessions. It is called simply 'Elvis Sessions From Clambake' and all these recordings including the masters came from the same 1989 DAT source tapes just as our very successful 2018 'Avventura In Oriente' 3CD release. We have decided to give that album a worthy follow up! What makes this new release special? Most tracks have been released before, but never before in such pristine quality!!! For the first time also, we release the stereo versions of the home recordings of '500 Miles' and 'Blowing In The Wind'! All tracks have been digitally restored and mastered in a renowned sound studio.
This previously unpublished photograph of Elvis Presley was taken at Elvis' Bel Air home in 1965 by Eddie Richardson the President of the Elvis Presley Fan Club at the time.
Beatles' Autographs on Elvis' Personal Stationery | August 27, 1965. Iconic is an understatement! It was August 27, 1965. The Beatles were on the eve of playing the Balboa Stadium in San Diego. Elvis was in the midst of shooting Paradise, Hawaiian Style in Hollywood. That night, between 10 and 11 p.m., John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr arrived in limousines at Elvis' domain, 565 Perugia Way in Bel Air, and Elvis personally greeted them at the door for what forever after became known as the 'summit meeting' of Pop music and Rock and Roll. A relic survives from that legendary meeting -- Jerry Schilling, a member of Elvis' 'Memphis Mafia', got the autographs of all four Beatles on a 5" x 8" piece of Elvis Presley's personal stationery ...
We all remember the 'good old days' when FTD released their first releases like 'The Jungle Room Sessions', 'Fame and Fortune' and 'Out in Hollywood'. Those CDs were in our players for weeks, due to all the unreleased stuff, great sound quality and last but not least the fact there were a lot of complete outtakes never heard before. The second release from MTP records is out now and the 6363 Sunset Volume 2 Deluxe Digipack CD will be another fan favorite.

Mindy Campbell was a flight attendant and was invited to attend the
Aloha from Hawaii concert. Then, the next day, she was excited to find out that Elvis and his entourage would be passengers on their flight back to Los Angeles. We think you will agree this is a very interesting video and well worth your time.
Elvis Presley at the Eagle's Nest in Memphis, circa August 1954, by his aunt, Clettes Presley. She apparently took all the photos we have from this evening, and if we had a recording as well that would have been a dream come true. Elvis is just 19, and Sun 209 is burning up local radio and selling like hot cakes. His hair does seem a little lighter, than in other versions of the shot.
Sandwiched between Elvis' iconic return to Las Vegas in 1969, and the triumph of the '
That's The Way It Is' documentary (1970) - '

The Classic Bootleg Collection Volume 2 is a sublime 6 cd box set with 6 classic Elvis Presley bootleg albums. Again there is chosen for some '50s, '60s and '70s instead of focusing on one time period. This way all will be served! There is a big chance your favorite Elvis bootleg album is presented in this boxset. These were the albums in the late 1970s and 1980s that fans were longing for, cause it presented much better (and rarer!) material than Elvis' own record company released in those days. This stunning box contains miniature albums of the original releases and includes all the original album tracks, digitally remastered and they now sound better than ever before! Still many of these tracks are unreleased by Elvis' official record company.

This
last photo of Elvis Presley was taken shortly after midnight at 12:28 AM on August 16, 1977. Elvis was returning to
Graceland in his

Dr. Lester Hoffman.
Recently I had cause to reevaluate boxes for sending LP Vinyl Records. What I found was all boxes specifically designed for records had variable reliability protecting the record if dropped on a corner. (Which can and does happen in transit). It depended a lot on the grade of the cardboard used and I found no 'off the shelf' supplier adequately covered. Recently we were out of record mailers so we used a BOX - and I do mean a 'box'!!! - one meant for sending wine bottles. I realized that this gave
100% protection.
Elvis, Ginger Alden and Lisa Marie driving through the Graceland gates on August 12, 1977.
Elvis was unable to get a copy of the film 'Star Wars' to view with his daughter Lisa Marie, so they watched the James Bond film 'The Spy Who Loved Me' instead. (Star Wars was released to theaters in the US on May 25, 1977) As they came home, Lisa was siting on Ginger Alden's lap, holding her bag of popcorn from the theater. The photo below, snapped just four days before his death is the last ever taken with his daughter Lisa Marie.

After a while, although the releases were still fantastic, we got more and more CDs with lots of outtakes from the same songs, great for collecting, but listening pleasure was a bit less fun... Time for some action!

The King of rock 'n' roll is yet to be revealed.
The first time I saw Elvis in person I knew he was special. Number one he was the prettiest man you ever saw in your life. He was really beyond handsome. There was something electric about him. Coming along when he did, moving the way he did, jumping around the way he did plus the fact that every woman was totally mesmerized by him. And if they said they weren't they were lying. Everything came to standstill when you saw Elvis. This was when he was 19 and again when he was 30. I saw him at both instances and there was the same reaction both times. You couldn't have wiped the smiles off their faces with a hand grenade. It was unbelievable every time he performed. He was just a great looking guy and he was very confident.
Well FTD has indeed well represented this tour and typically deliberately 'cut out' any solo performance by Elvis' backup singers! The Bonus tracks make the 76 minute running time more generous than has been the case in the past and Elvis looks and sounds as if he's enjoying himself.
Sony Music will release a Complete August 1969 Elvis Presley Live Recordings Boxset this year.
Elvis' love for singing harmony has its roots in his love for gospel choirs. It is absolutely common and even necessary to be able to sing harmony when you do gospel songs unless you are always on lead vocals. From the very early stages of his career the 'King' never really needed to do any harmony part.
FTD is pleased to announce the release of '

If you believe some fans, surely we've already heard enough 1969 Las Vegas concerts. Now that
Live In Vegas: August 26, 1969 Dinner Show is available from FTD, let's take a closer look at their claims.
For almost as long as there's been rock 'n' roll, Los Angeles has been a city at the center of its history and mythology, a town in which legends are made, burned, rebuilt, merchandised, forgotten. The city has had its fair share of native rock talent, and has been the adopted home of many more singular rockin' careers, but perhaps the greatest of L.A.'s rock 'n' roll tête-à-têtes occurred on a still summer night in 1965, high up in the rarefied climes of Bel Air. There, in a splendid home on Perugia Way, Elvis met the Beatles.
Sony will release the double LP, '

previously unreleased set from the first of many engagements at The International Hotel.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (UPI | Sept 16, 1975) - Elvis Presley, resting at home after hospitalization for an enlarged colon and fatigue, felt good enough Monday to go riding down Elvis Presley Boulevard with his girlfriend on twin 'funmobiles'. Presley, who usually shies away from interviews, encountered a photographer as he rode through his
Graceland Mansion gates on a newly purchased, three-wheeled funmobile.
How many records has Elvis actually sold? Did he really sell one billion records as has been frequently claimed? Ten years ago I researched this subject in depth with help from Ernst Jorgensen and through him Sony BMG and compiled a comprehensive report, which was published on this site. To some extent, as I have said before, this continues to be a work in progress, but the likelihood of more information on the question of international sales outside the USA emerging after all these years are remote. It is, after all, over 40 years since he died.

Hal Blaine, the Hall of Fame session drummer and virtual one-man soundtrack of the 1960s and '70s who played on the songs of Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley on tracks like 'Return to Sender', 'Bossa Nova Baby', 'Viva Las Vegas' and the Beach Boys 'Good Vibrations' and laid down one of music's most memorable opening riffs on the Ronettes' 'Be My Baby', died Monday March 11.

Despite performing more than 1,000 shows between 1969-1977, there are several concerts which stand out among Elvis fans for one reason or another. One of those concerts was a one-time only performance in Boston during the fall of 1971. For many years, this historic and rare concert made the rounds on the import release circuit in varying degrees of sound quality. But thanks to the good folks at the 'Follow That Dream' (FTD) Collector's Label, Elvis fans can now enjoy the ultimate release of this fine performance. Despite the arguably poor quality of the packaging, the main attraction of Boston Garden '71 is clearly the concert performance. Although Elvis only performed once in the city of Boston, he did so with gusto! Thanks to the fine folks at FTD, Elvis As Recorded At Boston Garden '71 is a testament to the true concert genius of 'The King of Rock n' Roll' .. (and) a damn-near perfect Elvis concert!
Candid photos of
Elvis, taken on August 7, 1956, in St. Petersburg, Florida. Elvis was playing that evening at St. Pete's Florida Theater, and several teenage fans snuck up the fire escape to his dressing room. The Times reported that while a handful managed to make it into his room, the police put an end to that very quickly. However, several kids did make it in, and he posed for pictures with them.
Review | 'Glen Campbell Sings For The King' CD. Back in 1964, Elvis Presley was busy making movies, three that year including Kissin' Cousins, Viva Las Vegas, and Roustabout. That said, Presley was recording and releasing singles, including 'Viva Las Vegas', 'Kiss Me Quick', and 'Ain't That Lovin' You Baby' to modest sales. He was looking for a hit. At that time Glen Campbell was best-known for his work as a studio musician as part of the Wrecking Crew, who played on a slew of hits. He met Presley during the taping of the Viva Las Vegas soundtrack.

The Hampton Roads show has one saving grace: Elvis decided to respond to the audience request for 'Return To Sender', which was an impromptu performance, and a true live rarity. Elvis sings it reasonably well and it was the highlight of the concert. This CD is presented in 3-panel digipak. Due to the lack of quality photographs from the Hampton Roads concert, great collection of various high-quality concert shots from Summer of 1976 has been used. So now you have the chance to obtain the ultimate release of the famous 'Return to Sender' concert. This recording never sounded better. It is dynamic, detailed, and in crystal clear sound!
Elvis Presley 'The '68 Comeback Special' is a newly remastered companion DVD to 'Elvis All-Star Tribute', NBC's upcoming star-studded special, celebrating The King of Rock 'N' Roll's unforgettable 1968 television special. 'The '68 Comeback Special' comprises, as closely as possible, the original television special as NBC would have broadcast it back in 1968. The original special, recorded over several sessions in June 1968, featured Elvis playing the songs that mattered most to him, in his first live performance since 1961. When it aired on December 3, 1968, the special was the week's highest-viewed television program, re-establishing Elvis as a driving force in popular music.
On February 15, 2019 Sony Music will release '
The Best Of The '68 Comeback Special' CD comprising the
Elvis recordings and performances that
inspired the upcoming tribute and showcases a new version of the legendary closing number, 'If I Can Dream', as heard in the new special.
Elvis spent some of his free Texas weekends in the summer of 1958 at a fancy establishment called the Western Hills Inn in Euless, about a two and a half-hour drive from Kileen, where he had been renting a home. The candids you can see here were taken on
Saturday, August 9, 1958, as Elvis happened upon a Texas Christian University ΣΑΕ frat party going on there (Sigma Alpha Epsilon). As may be seen, they are thrilled to see him, and he is his usual gracious self, even tuning (and likely playing) a guitar handed to him.

In 1980
Felton Jarvis, Elvis' record producer for the last decade came to the remarkable idea to freshen up some of Elvis' recordings. The idea was to add total new backing tracks to Elvis' voice. This resulted in the 1981 record release of 'Guitar Man'. You either hated it or you loved it is probably the right thing to say about the album. Felton was convinced Elvis would have loved it. The title track 'Guitar Man' written and first performed by
Jerry Reed was one of the tracks considered for the album. Jerry Reed was part of the original recording by Elvis in 1967 and now Jerry Reed was back in the studio with Felton Jarvis to work on the new album. Besides the guitar work he also recorded a 'duet' version of the song.

'I had started the Kui Lee Cancer Fund (thru my column) for a doctor at the UH doing cancer research. Lee was the legendary songwriter who died of cancer at 34. In the TV concert, Elvis sang Kui's most famous tune - '
I'll Remember You', to millions of global viewers. Thanks to Elvis and
Col. Tom Parker, his manager, I received (for the fund) a check for $75,000 from the live concert gate. Because it was a television broadcast, there was no charge. The audience was allowed in via their own contributions. Some kids saw the show for only 10 cents. Next day, Elvis and the Colonel took out full-page newspaper ads thanking Hawaii'.
Interview with Cynthia Pepper, PFC Midge Riley in
Kissin' Cousins, an Army stenographer assigned to accompany a lieutenant (Elvis) to the hills of East Tennessee to negotiate the sale of land to build a missile base. There, they encountered angry property owners, including the lieutenant's cousin, (Elvis)!
While it is well known that Elvis Presley and Sammy Davis Jr. were good friends, first meeting in the 1950s, maintaining a friendship through the years, now, we have a fantastic photo via a news paper clipping from Jet magazine, February 27, 1958 showing Sammy in full swing imitating Elvis, and what's more, the clipping tells us that Elvis was sitting in the front row, roaring with laughter. Imitations were a big part of Sammy's shows and Elvis was not left out in this regard, with Sammy singing Hound Dog in concert.
Elvis Presley in Britain (Well kind of).

This is an excellent release no fan should be without it.
The 'parade' footage is good to see as it puts you in the right context with color and b&w footage. The interviews of Elvis' Parents are well worth hearing too. The afternoon show footage is wonderful and electrifying : Here is Elvis in his prime rocking and rolling in front of 11.000 people. Highly recommended.
