Released | Elvis Presley 'The '68 Comeback Special' DVD

Elvis Presley 'The '68 Comeback Special' is a newly remastered companion DVD to 'Elvis All-Star Tribute', NBC's upcoming star-studded special, celebrating The King of Rock 'N' Roll's unforgettable 1968 television special. 'The '68 Comeback Special' comprises, as closely as possible, the original television special as NBC would have broadcast it back in 1968. The original special, recorded over several sessions in June 1968, featured Elvis playing the songs that mattered most to him, in his first live performance since 1961. When it aired on December 3, 1968, the special was the week's highest-viewed television program, re-establishing Elvis as a driving force in popular music.

Released | Elvis: The Best of the 68 Comeback Special CD

On February 15, 2019 Sony Music will release 'The Best Of The '68 Comeback Special' CD comprising the Elvis recordings and performances that inspired the upcoming tribute and showcases a new version of the legendary closing number, 'If I Can Dream', as heard in the new special.

Elvis Presley | Western Hills Inn, Euless, Texas | August 9, 1958

Elvis spent some of his free Texas weekends in the summer of 1958 at a fancy establishment called the Western Hills Inn in Euless, about a two and a half-hour drive from Kileen, where he had been renting a home. The candids you can see here were taken on Elvis Presley Photos Saturday, August 9, 1958, as Elvis happened upon a Texas Christian University ΣΑΕ frat party going on there (Sigma Alpha Epsilon). As may be seen, they are thrilled to see him, and he is his usual gracious self, even tuning (and likely playing) a guitar handed to him.

Guitar Man / Help Me Jarvis Records 45 RPM + CD

In 1980 Felton Jarvis, Elvis' record producer for the last decade came to the remarkable idea to freshen up some of Elvis' recordings. The idea was to add total new backing tracks to Elvis' voice. This resulted in the 1981 record release of 'Guitar Man'. You either hated it or you loved it is probably the right thing to say about the album. Felton was convinced Elvis would have loved it. The title track 'Guitar Man' written and first performed by Jerry Reed was one of the tracks considered for the album. Jerry Reed was part of the original recording by Elvis in 1967 and now Jerry Reed was back in the studio with Felton Jarvis to work on the new album. Besides the guitar work he also recorded a 'duet' version of the song.

Kui Lee Cancer Fund | Elvis Presley Aloha From Hawaii 1973

'I had started the Kui Lee Cancer Fund (thru my column) for a doctor at the UH doing cancer research. Lee was the legendary songwriter who died of cancer at 34. In the TV concert, Elvis sang Kui's most famous tune - 'I'll Remember You', to millions of global viewers. Thanks to Elvis and Col. Tom Parker, his manager, I received (for the fund) a check for $75,000 from the live concert gate. Because it was a television broadcast, there was no charge. The audience was allowed in via their own contributions. Some kids saw the show for only 10 cents. Next day, Elvis and the Colonel took out full-page newspaper ads thanking Hawaii'.

Elvis: April 10 1972, Richmond 2 CD Set from Victrola

Victrola label is proud to present 'Elvis: April 10 1972, Richmond' a 2 CD Set containing Elvis' powerhouse concert in Richmond. Welcome to another spectacular 'Elvis On Tour' release, brought to you by the Victrola label. Our recent 'Greensboro, April 14, '72' release was very well received, despite some reviewers failing to point out the fact that we presented a genuine, recently prepared, unreleased mix of the show as well as unreleased bits and pieces of the rehearsals on disc two. The April 10, 1972 Richmond, VA concert was released several times by various labels. Only two releases stands out: original 1995 Vicky label CD 'Carry Me Back To Old Virginia' - first ever release of this show in mono (incomplete) and 2008 Madison label CD 'Red Hot In Richmond' - first release in original 1972 narrow stereo (complete). The Richmond concert was never available in professionally remixed quality - until now! For the first time, these are actual multi-track master recordings that have been used as a source for this show.

Elvis: 'The Sound Of Your Cry' CD

'The Sound Of Your Cry' together with its American equivalent 'Greatest Hits Volume 1' always brings back some fine memories. The unique mixes on these two albums make these albums everlasting fan favorites. 'The Sound Of Your Cry' (The album) has never been available on CD until now. Added are the tracks that were featured on 'Greatest Hits Volume 1' that were not featured on 'The Sound Of Your Cry'. All versions are the correct versions as featured on the two albums and some are still unique to these albums only. For example the extended version of 'It's Only Love' and the unique edit of 'What'd I Say' are among the gems that make this album unique. Also worth mentioning are great mixes of 'Angel' & 'Steamroller Blues'. Probably the best compilation album to date.

Review : Elvis Sings Memphis Tennessee FTD 2 CD Special Edition

As you can tell, most of the songs on Elvis Sings Memphis, Tennessee are top-notch recordings that deserved better than being used as B-Sides and album fillers. If you think of 1963 and 1964 as wasted years in Elvis' recording career due to the movie soundtracks, then this album may come as a revelation to you. Despite the movie tunes, Elvis was also busy cranking out great material in Nashville.

'The King' of the road: German town puts Elvis on traffic lights

Cross the road, it's now or never. Or that's what residents in the German town of Friedberg may start humming when their traffic light jumps to green to reveal a hip-swivelling Elvis Presley. Elvis performed his military service there between 1958 and 1960 and the town remains all shook up about its celebrated visitor. To commemorate Elvis' link to Friedberg, located north of Frankfurt, local authorities have transformed three traffic lights into Elvis lights. On red, they show the music icon standing at his microphone. On green, Elvis is seen mid-hip shake, performing his trademark move on tip toes.

Released | From Cover to Vinyl | The Artistry of Elvis Bootlegs Book

When Bootleg Elvis appeared in 2012, it sold out almost immediately, and became an instant favorite of Presley collectors all over the world, most calling it the 'Bootleg Bible'. Since then, additional rare bootleg titles have been discovered, not to mention many unexpected variations of some classic albums. So … it seemed to be time for a new and updated look at this world. Whereas Bootleg Elvis mainly relied on text to tell the story, this new edition titled 'From Cover to Vinyl | The Artistry of Elvis Bootlegs' chooses to focus on photographs. Using the 2012 classic as a reference point, we decided to feature scans of every cover, label, piece of vinyl and insert for you. This will make it easy to identify each and every pressing and variation.

Elvis: 'Stax Power' Spliced Takes CD

CMT stays close to their 'Spliced Take' concept on this new release, although this is an album which stands on its own. While editing this album they have made all songs 'blending in' so you will get the feeling as if you are in the actual session with no pauses. All tracks from the 'Stax Sessions' have been included in this 2 CD set. One of the highlights is a breathtaking version of 'Sweet Angeline' which has a longer intro and an instrumental break featuring Kathy Westmoreland, Other must haves are longer intro's for 'Just A Little Bit' and 'I Got A Feeling in My Body' and a new ending for 'It's Midnight'. Rehearsals go straight into the songs, and there are some funny portions mixed in. If you liked the previous CMT releases you will LOVE this one, and we guarantee it will not leave your player before (and after) 2019!!

Elvis: 'Wonderful Winter Wonderland' Spliced Takes CD

Elvis: 'Wonderful Winter Wonderland' is a spliced take special release and is another winner in the great series and needs no further introduction. One thing we do want to mention is the newly created 'harmony' version of 'The Wonderful World of Christmas', although there are no outtakes available the CMT team managed to make a very different sounding track, where even the vocal ending is far different then the master take! Also just listen to the newly overdubbed version of 'Merry Christmas Baby' which has been re-created from THREE different overdub versions. All the other tracks are spliced very well, with longer intros.

'Harum Scarum' 3 CD Boxset

Victrola label is proud to present 'Avventura In Oriente' an ultimate release of Elvis' 'Harum Scarum' movie soundtrack material. What makes this new release so special? Most of it has been released before, but never before in such pristine quality! The outtakes come from a direct copy of a DAT cassette that was made on November 1989 in New York City. It was a surprise to discover masters that we had not heard in the way before. On this DAT copy there were also other outtakes from other studio sessions. Most of these outtakes have been released before but never before have they been heard in stereo. The special feature of the Harum Scarum sessions is that the songs were recorded with two drummers that can also be heard simultaneously, this is clearly audible in the sessions. As this release deals with the year 1965, some other songs are included on this release as a bonus.

(Yes, the Big Mac also has its 50th anniversary!) Presented in 'True' widescreen for the first time! Not stretching out Elvis body or face, but all shots individually repaired for the best result!

Elvis Presley and Muhammad Ali

On February 14, 1973 Elvis presented Muhammad Ali with an 'Elvis Style' robe emblazoned with the words, 'People's Choice' on the back in rhinestones and jewels. The wording was a mistake as Ali was known as the 'The Peoples Champion'. Elvis was very upset about this but it too late. Ali thanked Elvis for the robe then went directly to the Las Vegas Convention Center for his fight that night against Joe Bugner where he wore Elvis' robe for the first time. Often the story is told he did not wear it this night, but he sure did, and he won the fight too! Sammy Davis Jr was ringside for the fight and bought into the ring post fight by Ali.

Raquel Welch talks Elvis, Sex, and Heartbreak Hotel

Raquel Welch : I first saw Elvis Presley in concert in 1956, when I was 15 years old. He played the San Diego Arena in the spring, and my family lived in nearby La Jolla.Heartbreak Hotel was already a radio hit, and I couldn't get enough of it. Hearing that song was a real turning point for me as a teenager. When I saw him in action, he was mesmerizing. I screamed myself silly ... 'This must be what sex is all about' ... How a 'smoldering' 1956 performance by Elvis hypnotized a budding sex symbol ...

How Elvis Presley's Death Led to the Birth of Modern Entertainment Journalism

The most trusted man in America, CBS anchor Walter Cronkite, happened to be off, and Roger Mudd was sitting in. The newscast's 'fish bowl' - the key group of senior producers - had decided to lead with a story about the proposed Panama Canal treaty. While the program was being prepped, the wires exploded with news that Elvis Presley had died. ABC and NBC led with the death and ran special broadcasts after their late local news. CBS producers decided to include it, but only later in the broadcast.

The Bad Nauheim Tapes | Part 1 & Part 2 CDs

These days, it's almost a miracle when something new turns up, especially when it's from Elvis' finest years. Two hours' worth of homerecordings from 1959 sounds too good to be true, and yet here with Elvis: 'The Bad Nauheim Tapes' | Part 1 & Part 2 CDs it is. These remarkable recordings were made while Elvis lived in Bad Nauheim, Germany. Listening to these recordings, it's clear that he is having a good time with his pals, but the keen listener will also note that he is mapping out his musical future. Gospel music was always his first love, so naturally that's well represented here. Most notable are several stabs at 'He Knows Just What I Need', and it's not unlikely that the idea to record it at some point was born here. Same with 'Are You Lonesome Tonight', a song that would be a million seller for him one year later.

Elvis Presley in Every Language

Music – especially the music of Elvis Presley – is the universal language. No matter where you go in the world, everyone knows the word 'Elvis'. They also know his movies and music, even if English isn't their first language. And as Elvis fans, we all know the iconic images of the King of Rock 'n' Roll, including the posters for his movies like 'Jailhouse Rock' and 'Blue Hawaii'. Those movies had to be marketed to international fans, too – and that's where we get these amazing international movie posters. These colorful collectors items offer a different look at Elvis movies. Take a look at a few of these cool international movie posters below.

Elvis: Summer Festival Spliced Takes' CD

The Elvis 'Spiced Takes' series continues with 'Elvis Summer Festival' containing some very rare tracks from the 'That's the Way It Is' era... This time some amazing splices were made from some of the rehearsals for the actual movie, since they were for rehearsal purposes the actual listening pleasure is missing in some way, because of the many breaks and repeating parts... until now..... Next to the rehearsals, excellent studio splices are also included as well as a great live version of 'Just Pretend' with reprise!

Comeback '68 | The Story Of The Elvis Special Book by Steve Binder

Comeback '68 | The Story Of The Elvis Special is an in-depth behind the scenes look at the making of the '68 NBC Television Special that put Elvis back on the map, written by director Steve Binder. Filled with never before told stories and classic images, the book offers fresh perspective on who Elvis was as a man and a musician. Binder recounts his tug of war with Elvis' controlling manager Colonel Parker, shares his personal battle with censors, and poignantly writes a buddy story where he ultimately gains Elvis' trust. With a foreword by Priscilla Presley, this 180-page commemorative volume is a must-have for Elvis fans.

A New Light On Colonel Tom Parker | Part III

Parker was wrong in advising Elvis against the role in 'A Star Is Born' | If it really were the Colonel who talked Elvis out of accepting Streisand's offer, he would have been absolutely right to do so, in every respect. To list the numerous reasons for that would go beyond the scope and provide enough material for a separate article on that subject only. So, let's cut a long story short: Whoever believes Elvis should have done this movie, may please watch it (it's available on DVD). The role was magnificent for Kris Kristofferson, but for Elvis it would have been a disaster.

Elvis Presley: 'The Perfect 1' CD | Elvis' 40 Greatest (Take) One's

We'd like to present to you Elvis Presley 'The Perfect (Take) 1' CD, a 2 CD collection containing Elvis' first takes, recorded throughout the 60's and 70's. We at Gladyson consider these first takes to be on par and sometimes even better than the master recordings. Elvis in the studio did some magnificent first takes, but as sessions tend to go, the songs keep evolving, and everything gets perfected, but some of the magic seems to disappear with each passing take. We have chosen the best first takes and collected them in this 40 track housed in a beautiful 6-panel double disc digipack, which we hope you enjoy. We have left some dialogue in where fitting, and are pleased with the results. Instead of listening to the masters, get out of your shell, put this disc into your player, and enjoy 'The Perfect 1'.

Review | Elvis: 'Loving You' DVD

When premiered in 1957, moviegoers could barely hear the dialogue due to the screaming and swooning of Elvis' frenzied fans. Now newly remastered for optimum sound and picture quality, 'Loving You' stars a young Elvis Presley in his second feature film. This semi-autobiographical tale - which boasts some of his most outstanding performances including Teddy Bear and Loving You - chronicles the King's meteoric rise to super-stardom. With his unique vocal style, smoldering sensuality, and easy-going sex appeal to burn, Elvis shows us why he will live forever! This is highly recommended DVD release.
