So what makes this, April 14, 1972 'Elvis Greensboro', new release so special? Yes, it has been released before, most recently on the Amiga label boxed set 'Elvis On Tour - Deluxe Edition'. But this release blows that set right out of the water! You will not believe the sound, which for the first time comes from the actual RCA tapes.
Elvis Presley's 'moving' duet with his daughter Lisa Marie Presley features on a new posthumous album set for release in August. The 14-track record comes four decades after the King of Rock and Roll's death in August 1977, with a release date of August 11. '
Where No One Stands Alone' - the same name of their father-daughter song - features new backing music and vocals from old collaborators in the form of Darlene Love, Cissy Houston, The Imperials and The Stamps. Elvis won the Grammy for Best Sacred Performance for the title track, which has been re-imagined, in 1967. In her notes for the album, Lisa writes: 'It was a very powerful and moving experience to sing with my father. 'The lyrics speak to me and touch my soul. 'I'm certain that the lyrics spoke to my father in much the same way'.

Elvis: 'Where No One Stands Alone' celebrates the power and passion of Elvis Presley's gospel recordings. Produced by Joel Weinshanker, Andy Childs and Lisa Marie Presley, the album features Elvis' most treasured performances of inspirational songs with newly-recorded instrumentation and backing vocals, including members of gospel and vocal groups that shared the stage with him, including Darlene Love; Cissy Houston; Terry Blackwood, Armond Morales and Jim Murray of The Imperials; and Bill Baize, Ed Hill and Larry Strickland of The Stamps Quartet. The album also includes a new duet with
Lisa Marie Presley, Elvis' daughter, on the title track'. Since I was two years old', Elvis Presley once said, 'all I knew was gospel music. It became such a part of my life, it was as natural as dancing. A way to escape my problems, and my way of release'.
Here is a special article by Elvis' youngest co-star, Victoria Paige Meyerink, from 'Speedway' as she shares some of her memories of working with the king. Being in the film business is unlike any other. The bonds formed during production last a lifetime and, in Elvis' case, beyond. When I was cast as Ellie Easterlake in 'Speedway' I knew the project was special and that it would be a great experience… I had no idea that from that moment on, Elvis Presley would become a huge part of my life and career forever.
D.J. Fontana, Elvis' legendary drummer, has died aged 87. The last of the 'Blue Moon Boys' has now left to join his fellow musicians - the creators of the Rock'n'Roll big-bang.

'The Unreachable Star' |
Elvis As recorded at Madison Square Garden ...
DVD ... How good is this!!! How excited we were when the announcement came about the newly discovered Madison Square Garden high-quality Super-8 footage and that it would be released on 'Prince From Another Planet'. But then how disappointed we were when seeing the final result with the whole show on DVD but with 70% without footage! Fortunately, Elvis fans have stepped up to the plate by
redoing the Madison Square Garden
footage from scratch. Although still not a complete show it is now an
incredible 41-minute feature will blow you away.
Due to popular demand Vee-Tone Records have released a CD version of '

A new 'Spliced Takes' release, Elvis: '3764 - The Final Recordings' includes all tracks from both 'Elvis Presley Boulevard' and 'Moody Blue'. 'He'll Have To Go' has been remade into a very different sounding track, it starts off with Elvis singing 'He'll Have to Ho' James throws in a lick, and then our man bursts into 'Put your sweet lips....' 'Love Coming Down' has been extended but there are no repeatable parts.
Since the performances cannot be beaten, the best thing for us to do would be to present them in the same way as they were recorded... but since that has been done over and over (and over and over) CMT is proud to present this STAR production, which is the best release containing the 1968 recordings.....in 50 years! Much time and effort went into this release, some live tracks have been 'spliced' from different shows, some studio tracks have been re-created and sound breathtaking! The live tracks are blended very cool, so you get the feeling you are listening to a complete show. Probably THE highlight is the 'complete' version of 'Trouble'/'Guitar Man', cool edits make this work very well and makes the track even more 'Evil' Some tracks have been shortened to make it a different listening experience, 'That's All Right' for example is presented just like the original 1954 version, with no repeating verses and chorus. 'Let Yourself Go' has been spliced with the instrumental version and sounds very different. The 'Gospel' segment has been re-created from scratch containing clever splices to make it sound just like the original version, only different ... 'Blue Suede Shoes' (Stand up) has been re-edited and kicks some serious a..... Throw in some more spliced takes, a rare rehearsal version of 'Blue Moon of Kentucky' (spliced) and some cool live edits, turn up to volume and enjoy this excellent release. Presented in a six-panel digipack, limited to 500 copies, this one will be gone soon!

The Elvis Presley Camden Collection Vol 1 and 2 are released as two separate 6 CD box sets. With these stunning new sets we are celebrating the unique Camden compilation albums, released in the UK between 1975 and 1986. Although a product of Pickwick International, licensed from RCA Records, these albums are lovingly referred to as 'Camdens', simply because of the catalogue numbers and the big capital letters 'CAMDEN' on the record and cassette labels. Despite often being dismissed by long terms fans when they were originally released, these albums were the first point of call for younger people getting into Elvis' music. The budget prices, added to the eye-catching covers meant these were albums that found their way into many a home that had never owned an Elvis record. So, for many, there is a fondness for these releases. We hope you enjoy a trip down memory lane...with these Camden albums for the very first time on CD!

'What Tom did, perhaps more than anybody, was tell the story that we were trying to tell', said Landau, the longtime manager of
Bruce Springsteen, who is also interviewed in 'The Searcher'. 'Tom started talking about the later part of Elvis' career, which is typically dealt with dismissively. He said, 'Yeah, but when you put all the craziness aside, there is still this incredible singer, surrounded by this incredible band'.

Elvis Presley's show at Empire Stadium on Aug. 31, 1957 is the stuff of legend. But photos of the gig are as rare as hen's teeth. So imagine Rob Frith's surprise when he recently got a call about some unknown Elvis photos from Empire Stadium. 'Look at this', he said this week, pointing to a photo of Elvis in full pelvis mode. 'That's just killer! It's the classic pose'. Indeed it is. The photo captures the early Elvis in all his rock 'n' roll glory, knees bent and wide apart, singin' and swingin' in his famous gold lame jacket.

Thom Zimny: I think for me, the desire to do a film about Elvis came about when I realized there was a generation that was missing out on the beauty of the man and his music. The message got lost in portraying Elvis as a cartoon figure. I wanted to get to a closer place and examine the artist. We looked at what he accomplished and kept away from the backstory that has been the focus of other films which looked at the character defects and the losses in his life. I felt the music needed to be revisited and our generation would not see him as a caricature, but as a person who was deeply connected to the music and whose life has not been clearly explained in books and films.
Elvis Presley probably spent more time in front of a movie camera than any other rock star of his era. He made young rebel melodramas, breezy musical comedies, and concert films-and that's not even counting his hours and hours of appearances on TV variety shows. Yet there's never been an Elvis picture quite like HBO's two-part, three-and-a-half hour
Elvis Presley: The Searcher. Ostensibly a documentary spin on author Peter Guralnick's comprehensive, analytical biographies 'Last Train To Memphis' and 'Careless Love', director
Thom Zimny's film isn't about Elvis the icon so much as it's about Presley the person.

Here is an inside look at the upcoming new multi-part documentary Elvis Presley: The Searcher.
Can it really be true that an Elvis Presley documentary as probing and thoughtful as Thom Zimny's
Elvis Presley: The Searcher does not already exist? After decades of home video performance-film releases and docs of varying quality, this two-part, three and a half-hour film feels like a landmark, something that should be welcomed as warmly as the two Elvis books published in the 1990s by
Peter Guralnick, Last Train to Memphis and Careless Love. Chipping away calcified layers of myth and caricature to address the psychology behind Presley's career, its seriousness and sensitivity is no surprise to those who've followed the series of documentaries Zimny has been making about
Bruce Springsteen. Sure to fare well when it bows April 14 on HBO, it made for a spellbinding big-screen experience at the music-rooted SXSW Film Festival.

Elvis in Blade Runner 2049: One of the best films of last year was 'Blade Runner 2049' by director Denis Villeneuve. It was the sequel to the 1982 'Blade Runner' and stared Ryan Gosling and Harrison Ford. Set thirty years after the first film, Ryan Gosling plays K, a blade runner. And, Yes, in 2049 ELVIS is still relevant! His great musical legacy continues and his holographic image is still playing in Las Vegas. Here is the Official Trailer for the new multi-part documentary Elvis Presley: The Searcher, directed by Thom Zimny and airing on HBO (USA) on April 14, pushes past the larger-than-life image of
The King of Rock and Roll, portraying him instead as a man and an artist 'who wanted to heal, to find that thing that was always felt to be missing, and to do it through the music'. The documentary borrows its name from a key Priscilla Presley quote: 'Elvis was a searcher,' she says in the documentary's trailer. 'He said to me, 'I wanna be able to reach and feel what we all go through as human beings'. Featuring interviews with Tom Petty, Emmylou Harris, and Bruce Springsteen, the three-hour, two-film presentation debuts April 14 at 8 P.M. on HBO.
Elvis : Return To Tupelo DVD is a 90 minute program and a wonderful insight into the personal life and early life of Elvis Presley. The filmmakers really brought home the conservatism of 'the' America that was in place at the time. The split between the races and the lingering post World War II poverty was all happening at the time. Elvis somehow got through the snares of being beyond impoverished from birth possibly because he knew nothing else save for the love of his tight-knit family anchored by his mother Gladys. He had a gift and all he knew is he loved to sing and share it. The chronicle of his family's rise from being beyond poor to when they were welcomed as the town's pride and joy in his 1956 return is amazing.
Elvis met Gene Vincent at least twice in 1956, once in New York on July 3, and again a few months later in Los Angeles. There are no photos of the chance July meeting at Penn Station, although Elvis mentions it in an interview about a week later. Below we have a photo from the second meeting; Elvis Presley, with Paul Peek, Gene Vincent in Los Angeles, CA - Sunday, September 30, 1956.
Bitsy recalls the meal fondly. 'Mom had chosen not to put out place cards, so everyone chose their own seat. Usually when we ate dinner my dad would sit at one end of the table and my mom would sit at the other end. Her chair had a butterfly switch on the floor underneath that she could step on to ring and let the kitchen know if she needed something. 'As we were sitting down to dinner, my dad sat at his usual end of the table, but Gladys took her seat at the opposite end in the butterfly chair. Dad's eyes darted over to my mother silently urging her not to say anything to Gladys to avoid embarrassment. All of a sudden we heard a buzzing noise coming from the kitchen. It turns out; Gladys had accidentally stepped on the switch.

This is an excellent release no fan should be without it.
The 'parade' footage is good to see as it puts you in the right context with color and b&w footage. The interviews of Elvis' Parents are well worth hearing too. The afternoon show footage is wonderful and electrifying : Here is Elvis in his prime rocking and rolling in front of 11.000 people. Highly recommended.
