Spliced takes: 'Still in Memphis' CD

Fans know what to expect with the excellent 'Spiced Takes' CD series, some highlights are mentioned here, and the Spliced takes: 'Still in Memphis' CD is one big highlight! Featuring all new edits, CMT truly has been able to produce eight (8) great 'new' albums, using many incomplete takes, to create beautiful new tracks. The professional edits will blow you away and will make you believe these are unreleased takes. Some new 'alternate masters' were made and the result is amazing; (just listen to the sample below!) There are no fake overdubs, but some tracks have been overdubbed, using snippets from the actual 'recording sessions'. Elvis fans have been spoiled over the years, and they all know ... 'the end is near' as almost every complete take available has been released, so this is as close as you can get for a 'New' album, an album - which won't leave your player for some time! (promise!) Each set comes in a 'Deluxe Digipack' with beautiful artwork, and is strictly limited to 500 copies!

Elvis Presley and the Gold Cadillac Tour

Whether it's the black leather suit from the '68 special, the Pink Cadillac, his Grammy Awards or Graceland itself, fans love getting a glimpse of the things Elvis owned, loved and appreciated. And this trend didn't start in 1982, when Graceland was opened to the public for tours. In 1965 and 1968, Elvis' gold Cadillac hit the road to promote Elvis.

Pat Boone Remembers Elvis Presley

Pat Boone: I first met Elvis in Cleveland, Ohio. He was not very, he was not known really nationally at all. It was before Heartbreak Hotel, before Hound Dog, he had two or three country records, sort of 'rockabilly' we called them. And I'd seen his name on some jukeboxes in Texas, and made note of the name. But he couldn't be a pop artist, not in those days.

Released: The EPE Catalog Hardcover Book

'The EPE Catalog' book has been released and our order is on the way to us. This is a new book from Erik Lorentzen in The Gold Standard Series. The author is Bob Pakes, the guy who knows everything about what was going on regarding Elvis' merchandise in the fifties. Almost 400 pages with some sensational photos.

'Virginia Loves Elvis' DVD

'Virginia Loves Elvis' DVD (Digitally Remastered) | Recorded live at Hampton Roads Coliseum. April 9, 1972. (8.30 pm). Hampton, VA. This digitally remastered set has been re-edited from scratch, including new angles and rare outtakes, presented in deluxe digipack, and full WIDESCREEN. They have presented the show in 16:9 ratio, which is quite impressive. There's some quality loss as most on stage footage was shot in 4:3 format but on my 55" screen it still looks very good and is something you can watch time and again. Some highlights are the COMPLETE versions of 'An American Trilogy' and 'Love Me Tender' and probably the winner would be 'How Great Thou Art' presented in MULTI ANGLES with some very rare footage, it brings it more 'alive' since you see both Elvis and The Stamps Quartet harmonizing the song!

The night Elvis rocked San Bernardino

Sunday night, Nov. 12, 1972. The Santa Ana winds were howling, so typical of San Bernardino in November. And it was cold. But a sold-out crowd stood patiently to have an audience with The King.

Forty-five years ago, Elvis made history in Hawaii

Elvis' iconic special, 'Aloha from Hawaii', aired on January 14, 1973, and it was the first entertainment special by a solo artist to be broadcast live around the world. 1972 and 1973 were great years to be Elvis fans. In 1972, Elvis released the documentary 'Elvis on Tour', giving fans a good long look at his concerts and the work that went into producing them. In fact, the 'Aloha from Hawaii' concert was supposed to take place in November 1972, but MGM, who produced the documentary, feared it was too close to the movie's opening. 'Aloha' was pushed to January 1973. The November 1972 concerts happened, anyway, but they weren't filmed.

Elvis Presley Comeback a Phenomenal Maneuver

Though he never lost the title of 'King', it was an empty crown that Elvis Presley wore during much of the decade of the 1960s. While it is hard to have ever thought of Presley in need of a comeback, it was precisely the situation in which he found himself just a few months ago. Despite his unparalleled success of the late 1950s and early 1960s (more than 250 million records sold and more than 30 movies) ... Unbelievably, Presley, who had been the most important musical influence of his generation, was only a memory to many of his strongest fans during much of the 1960s. For those who were excited by his early recordings (a list that begins with John Lennon and Paul McCartney and extends into the millions), Presley would always be a special figure, but it seemed that he would be a figure tucked neatly and permanently into the past.

Bruce Springsteen’s Top 12 Elvis Presley covers

After I watched Dennis P. Laverty's new documentary 'If I Can Dream: The Influence of Elvis on Bruce' - which makes the case that Elvis Presley is the primal, No. 1 influence on Bruce - I started thinking, is Elvis also the artist Springsteen has covered the most? He may be, though it's a hard thing to quantify. Elvis Presley very well might be the winner. So, in honor of The King here are videos for the 12 Elvis Presley songs Springsteen has performed the most, followed by the number of times he has done them.

Peter Hann of 'It's Elvis Time' has Died

It is with great sadness that I write of the death of Peter Hann of the 'It's Elvis Time' fan club. Peter died on January 7 after battling ill health for some time. He was 72. Peter became a member of 'It's Elvis Time' in 1962, later becoming Club President in 1981. In 2010 his then girlfriend Freia succeeded him as President. I have known Peter for around 18 years and while we never met we did talk on the phone many times over the years. He was always a pleasure to work with, his honesty and easy-going approach made it easy to consider him a 'friend'. His death is a big loss to the 'Elvis world' and a very sad day at 'Elvis Australia'.

Review | Elvis : Good Rockin' Tonight mini-series (From 1990) DVD

A favorite show of mine growing up, and one that I have always wished would come out on DVD, is the short-lived 1990 ABC series Elvis-Good Rockin' Tonight. It only lasted for 10 episodes with three unaired episodes, and was later edited into one long, (4 hours) film' Elvis: The Early Years'. It follows a young Elvis from his days in Tupelo to the end of his days at Sun Records. The series stared Michael St Gerard, Jesse Dabson, Blake Gibbons, and Millie Perkins. I'm posting this here because I always hear people say 'well, they've made 'Walk The Line', and 'Ray' why has there never been a production on par with those two for Elvis? Well, there has! I've just received a bootleg of the series and I'd like to review all 13 episodes.

Priscilla Presley talks about 'The Searcher' Upcoming HBO Documentary

When HBO premieres Elvis Presley: The Searcher this spring, fans of the King will get an unprecedentedly deep look at his life and music, from his first forays into Memphis blues clubs to his early stardom, up through his late '60s comeback and exhausting '70s touring. The nearly three-and-a-half-hour-long, two-part documentary (which will also get a soundtrack released through Sony/Legacy) features new interviews with scholars, stars like Bruce Springsteen and the late Tom Petty, and -- most notably -- Priscilla Presley, who famously met the superstar when she was 14 and was married to him from 1967 to 1973.

Review | Elvis On Tour: 45th Anniversary Edition | 9 CD | Hardcover Book

This 'Elvis On Tour' Deluxe | 9 CD | Hardcover Book boxset set contains 4 concerts, 'Hampton Roads', 'Virginia' (Richmond), 'Virginia' (Greensboro), and 'San Antonio' on 4 CDs, plus 4 CDs of rehearsals and 1 CD of interviews with Elvis. The concerts, with one exception ('Hampton Roads'), are Stereo. And the rehearsals, again, with one exception ('Buffalo'), are Stereo. The interviews are mono. It is true, 'Elvis On Tour' has been given a complete lack of attention by both Sony and Warner. It is indeed a shame that so few quality releases have emerged. But now thanks to Amiga with this deluxe package, this is no longer the case. Stunning Design and Production | So many photos I have not seen before - it is just a dream | A good 120 pages of photos and information | Great sound | Quality throughout.

The Future of the Follow That Dream (FTD) Collectors Label

While many have speculated that the Follow That Dream (FTD) Collectors Label might close after 20 years in 2019, Ernst Jorgensen has strongly denied this stating that FTD has plans to continue for the foreseeable future. FTD was started in 1999 with its first release containing material from the second dressing room rehearsal for the '68 Comeback Special. The biggest selling title though is The Jungle Room Sessions.

Red & Elvis | A look at the forthcoming autobiography by Red West

Red West was working on an autobiography before his death last July. Co-author Jon W. Sparks has opened up on a few details with the book to be release later this year. Red West and Elvis Presley were friends ever since the day in high school when Red broke up a plan by some punks in the boys room to give shy outsider Elvis an unwanted haircut with a pair of scissors. Red, a burly athlete standing 6-1, told the bullies, 'You're gonna have to give me one first'. They tucked tails and skeedaddled.

Wanda Jackson Talks Elvis

After I graduated from high school, I had a couple of songs by that time. I was ready to go on tour. I'm an only child, so daddy decided he should go with me. So for the first couple of nights, we toured with a guy named Elvis Presley. I've never heard of him. That was in 1955.

Touched by Love 1980 drama film DVD

Touched by Love [1980] is an uplifting true story of love, hope and devotion and its important message is one of the most important parts of Elvis' legacy, one that deserves to be remembered forever. The end statement of the film says it all: 'To Elvis Presley for his compassion and ability to spread joy'. The movie is based on the reminisces of a real-life person, Lena Canada, a therapist in charge of handicapped girl named Karen played by future star, Diane Lane. The acting is first rate, particularly Diane Lane, whose portrayal (and transformation) of Karen from a lifeless body in her wheelchair to an animated and vibrant, talkative young girl is exceptional. The movie features performances by Elvis, Love Me Tender and Ready Teddy.

Elvis Presley's influence on Bruce Springsteen

Many rock artists influenced Bruce Springsteen in a big way, including Bob Dylan, The Beatles, Van Morrison and Roy Orbison. But the primal, No. 1 influence - the place where it all started for him - was Elvis Presley.

Suzanna Leigh, Elvis Presley's Co-Star in 'Paradise, Hawaiian Style', Dies at 72

Suzanna Leigh, who co-starred with Elvis Presley in the 1966 musical comedy Paradise, Hawaiian Style, has died. She was 72. 'Elvis and I were both under contract to Hal Wallis, who was known as the star maker', Leigh once recalled. 'I remember the day that Hal said that I would be making my next movie with Elvis. I was an incredible fan of his, and then he said you'll be filming it in Hawaii. Wow. Elvis was a fabulous actor, very underrated by a lot of the conventional theater people'.

Paul McCartney sings 'Heartbreak Hotel' with Bill Blacks Upright Bass

As the bassist of the most iconic rock and roll band, The Beatles, Paul McCartney played bass gutair. In this clip he shows his talents on the upright bass. But not just any upright bass. The 'upright' as many call it officially known as the 'double bass', is the acoustic early version of the electric modern day bass guitar that would become Paul's role in The Beatles. Paul reveals the original Elvis Presley bass, played by Bill Black, and sings 'Heartbreak Hotel'.

Guy Harris, Elvis Presley's childhood friend, remembers the boy that became a King

'Nothing stood out about Elvis', Harris said. 'There wasn't no-one more surprised than me when he did what he did. Elvis was no different from any of the rest of us, back then. We'd go swimming together in the creek, just hang out, like kids do. There wasn't a lot to do, growing up in Tupelo. The young Elvis was not the extrovert and flamboyant Vegas showman he would later become. On a previous trip to Memphis I'd learned that as a teenager he was so shy that he had to be coaxed to sing on stage at an end-of-term high school concert. Within two to three years he was the most famous person in the world, and wealthy in a way that would be unimaginable to the country boy from Mississippi.

Elvis Presley and Racism | The Ultimate, Definitive Guide

In April 1957, Sepia magazine, a white-owned sensationalist monthly for black readers, took up a discussion, 'How Negroes Feel About Elvis', as controversial then as it is today: the case of a white kid - Elvis Presley - who adopted black music and became the most successful artist of his time. When the 'establishment' accused Elvis Presley of being vulgar, of being deliberately sexual, they did not mean this. This was the cover for what was really meant, what was really feared, and that was that Elvis would lead to equal rights and racial integration. And not just Elvis any white person singing rock 'n' roll. Carl Perkins was warned to not do his show. Elvis was simply the number one guy and therefore got the most attention. Here is our definitive response to this nonsense. Read more.

Elvis Presley helped spark the Beatles' 'Love'

John Lennon famously said that without Elvis Presley there'd have been no Beatles. Less well known is that the King was still impacting the group in t he 21st century. It seems Paul McCartney was listening, and closely, when a Junkie XL remix of Elvis Presley's 'A Little Less Conversation' topped the charts in nine different countries back in 2002. 'I'd been getting a little bit jealous', McCartney tells Steven Van Zandt. 'I was seeing remixes of, like, Elvis' things coming out - and I was thinking: 'That sounds good, man'. You know, it's still Elvis, but they've put a new beat behind it. I thought: 'I kind of like that'.

'Morrissey' Sings Elvis Presley's 'You'll Be Gone'

Singer, 'Morrissey' is currently opening his concerts with a memorable - and faithful - run through the Elvis Presley nugget 'You'll Be Gone'. Morrissey's version shook with swagger, in a fashion that surely would've pleased the King of Rock and Roll. He has performed the song in concert since 2015. And isn't is so cool he has chosen this song and the one that Elvis had a genuine writing credit on (Red West / Elvis Presley / Charlie Hodge). Steven Patrick Morrissey, known mononymously as Morrissey, rose to prominence as the lead singer of the Smiths. The Smiths recorded 'His Latest Flame', Elvis' 1961 hit. His father was an Elvis-fan and one of Morrisseys friends is Nancy Sinatra. There are several live versions, we have picked the one with the best sound quality.

We have spent dozens of hours in studio, to restore and enhance them. As usual, every recording was treated individually and restored from scratch, using today's advanced technology to achieve the best possible sound quality for your optimal listening pleasure.

Elvis and Me 'An Evening With Priscilla Presley', Melbourne, Australia 2017

I thoroughly enjoyed Priscilla Presley in Melbourne last night. I really did not know what to expect so I observed with interest just as much as listened and watched. To hear Priscilla talk about Elvis, how they met and their life together was truly special and as promised it was a rare insight into Priscilla's life with Elvis. While some people have the privilege of knowing Priscilla personally, the rest of us can be very pleased that we have the opportunity to spend 2 hours in this way. Priscilla as well as being a very big part of Elvis' life, and the mother of his only child, is the most authentic and closest to Elvis we have.

Elvis Presley Wanted To Tour Australia But Colonel Parker Stopped Him

Elvis Presley wanted to tour Australia but his manager Colonel Tom Parker wouldn't let him. Jerry Schilling was part of the 'Memphis Mafia' and worked with Elvis Presley and Colonel Tom Parker. 'I was at that late night meeting at the Las Vegas Hilton. Elvis wanted to tour overseas. He wanted to go to Australia. He wanted to go to Japan. The Colonel said, 'if you go I am not going to go with you'. Elvis said 'that's fine, you are fired'.

'Elvis and Me': Memorializing Elvis Presley

Priscilla Presley: 'I start my show off saying, 'You're probably wondering why I'm doing this'. I think it's time. I feel much more comfortable with crowds, with people and with talking', says Priscilla Presley. 'I just want to clear up so many things that have been altered or perceived differently. I want to put the record straight from my side'. Priscilla is the only one to have the story of being his wife, confidant, friend, accomplice and the mother of his child. To prepare, I read her memoir, Elvis and Me. Among other things, Priscilla shares intimate details about their 18 years together, the complications of it all and the life of the king.

Elvis: 'Past Masters - Volume 2' CD

The Elvis: 'Past Masters - Volume 2' CD is a collection of 25 tracks from Elvis' catalogue. The majority of these tracks were not available on his original albums. Past Masters consists of A- and B-sides from Elvis' singles and Extended Play's (EP's), very hard to find Long Play (LP) album versions and some previously unreleased versions in great binaural sound. The main part of the single and Extended Play (EP) versions appeared in a different form or sound on his Long Play albums. Also included are the full contents of the original 'TV Guide Presents Elvis Presley' record (released in September 1956) and the original USA 'The Truth About Me' promotional cardboard disc (original US edit as released in November 1956). Again a great collection of rarities! Just like the first volume of 'Past Masters'.

Elvis: 'Anthology | Part Two' CD

Elvis One proudly presents Anthology | Part Two CD. This new volume includes 40 tracks, 18 previously unreleased and even 25 previously unreleased by Elvis' record company - plus some previously unreleased on CD! Including previously unreleased interviews, rare radio spots from movies like 'Harum Scarum' and 'Paradise, Hawaiian Style' (None of these were previously available on CD), alternate takes, live recordings, rehearsal excerpts and much more! 'The Beatles' Anthology', Elvis style! 'Anthology' from Elvis Presley!

Elvis: 'Suppose - The Home Recordings - Vol. 2' CD

Suppose - The Home Recordings - Vol. 2 CD is a companion album to Elvis - The Home Recordings (released by RCA/BMG in 1999). This second album contains 22 tracks; all home recordings. Most of them were recorded at various locations in Los Angeles and Germany. Some were recorded in Memphis and a few in other places. Of these 22 tracks, 12 are officially previously unreleased and 2 tracks are very hard to find. For example: the stereo version of '500 Miles'. The version of 'Suppose' on this album was only available on the 'Celluloid Rock' boxset from 1998. Includes the ultra rare song, 'Let Me Be The One'.

The 'parade' footage is good to see as it puts you in the right context with color and b&w footage. The interviews of Elvis' Parents are well worth hearing too. The afternoon show footage is wonderful and electrifying : Here is Elvis in his prime rocking and rolling in front of 11.000 people. Highly recommended.
