Marty Lacker dies aged 80
Marty Lacker, a member of Elvis' famed Memphis Mafia and one of the best men at Elvis' 1967 wedding, died Monday after suffering from kidney failure. He was 80. He's the second member of the Memphis Mafia to die in recent months, following the November 2016 death of Joe Esposito, the other best man at Elvis' wedding.

Mary Tyler Moore Dies aged 80
US Emmy award-winning actress Mary Tyler Moore has died aged 80, her publicist says. Tyler Moore was best known for her television roles in the 1960s sitcom The Dick Van Dyke Show and the eponymous The Mary Tyler Moore Show in the 1970s. Elvis Presley fans know her for her rol in the King's last movie, 'Change Of Habit'. She was also nominated for a best actress Oscar in 1980 for the film Ordinary People. Mara Buxbaum said in a statement she died in the company of friends and her husband, Dr S. Robert Levine.

Elvis: The Essential Undubbed Masters 1969-1976 is a brand new deluxe 8 cd set and it is out now. Recording sessions can be time-consuming. The process of recording a song or album is often very interesting. It's like playing live in the studio, with the difference that if one goofed, they had to do it all over. Small corrections could be made but especially erasing something from the tape was a problem. Later on with the introduction of multitrack recording equipment it became much easier to alter the recordings. Channels could be erased or added and levels could be adjusted for each separate channel. Often a track that ends up on an LP or 45 contains overdubs that were made at a later stage and added to the master take. Also most of The Elvis masters contain such overdubs. This set contains the master takes as they were made in the studio, without those overdubs. It's as close as it gets to the pure sound of Elvis.

Released : 'Spirit Of Jackson MS' 2-CD Set from FTD
The 'Spirit Of Jackson, MS' CD is now released and our order is on the way to us. On May 5th 1975, Elvis performed a concert in aid of the McComb tornado victims at the State Fair Coliseum, Jackson, Mississippi. Elvis raised $108, 860 to help residents who were affected by the devastation. The audio for this show is damaged beyond repair. However, 'Spirit Of Jackson, MS' includes two other shows from the State Fair Coliseum. Just over a month after the charity show, Elvis performed in Jackson again and this show is featured on Disc 2. Disc 1 stays at the same venue for a concert given in September 1976.
Welcome Home Elvis soundtrack found
56 years after its initial broadcast, and 41 years after ABC is said to have discarded the original master videotape, a high-quality source of the soundtrack for the Frank Sinatra-hosted 1960 Timex special has finally been located. The special, officially titled 'It's Nice to Go Traveling', was Sinatra's last for the network, and was conceived as a vehicle to welcome home Elvis Presley, who was returning from Germany, after his separation from the service. Reviews of the show were generally positive, and the highlight of the program was the once-in-a-lifetime pairing of the The Chairman of the Board and The King, as they performed a duet of each other's hits -- 'Love Me Tender' and 'Witchcraft.'
Review : Tucson '76 FTD CD
The first soundboard that we have for a long, long time from the official label is a good show with some surprises. The show was recorded in Tucson, Arizona in June 1st 1976. The artwork is weak, but I have seen worse on the FTD-series. I like the design of the disc itself. The sound is very clear and loud, with all the instruments very audible, but somehow it does not give you that 'live feeling' like on Let Me Take Your Home or Holding Back The Years, for example. But let's talk about the very good content.

Larry Muhoberac passed away at 79
After a period of poor health, Larry Muhoberac has passed away aged 79. It was Muhoberac who played piano for Elvis' at his sensational Las Vegas return to live performing in 1969. In fact, Larry Muhoberac's hands have also doubled for Elvis' in several movie scenes of The King playing the piano. And while Elvis left the building long ago, Muhoberac also played alongside Ray Charles, Neil Diamond and Barbra Streisand before moving to Australia with his wife Andra in 1986.

The cleverly titled 'Way Down in the Jungle Room' is another Elvis session anthology from RCA/Legacy that was conceived in the style of 2013's critically acclaimed 'Elvis at Stax'. It includes all the masters and many outtakes from the 'Jungle Room' sessions that took place from February 2-8 and October 29-30, 1976 at the 'den' of Graceland, Elvis' home in Memphis, TN. Back then, nobody could have guessed that these sessions would become a rather sad part of music history as Elvis Presley's last studio recordings. The songs that were recorded at those sessions ended up on the albums 'From Elvis Presley Boulevard, Memphis, Tennessee' (1976) and 'Moody Blue' (1977), which were both still released during Elvis' lifetime.

On November 28 & 29, 1976 Elvis performed two shows at the Cow Palace in the flower-city San Francisco. These shows have been regarded as some of Elvis' finest performances during this busy bicentennial year for The King. Gathered here in a beautiful 2-disc digipack, Elvis : Double Date At The Gate, is both shows in excellent quality. Unfortunately, the sound engineer was not able to capture the whole shows while recording, but on this release, you will find every second that was captured. The sound on both shows has been remastered by professionals and has never sounded better. Period.

Bill Medley Remembers Elvis Presley (Inc. 'Old Friend' by Bill Medley)
First time I had any contact with Elvis I was in the hospital and Elvis sent me a telegram ... I had written and recorded this song called Old Friend and in the song it says, 'Would you be here if I could have been there?' in the song and that really means that at one point I think it was the second time maybe he went into the hospital or something I wanted to come to Memphis and talk to Elvis as a friend, you know, didn't want a Cadillac, didn't need anything, didn't want anything, just loved him.

Joe Esposito dead at 78
Joe Esposito died November 23, after a year of declining health. Joe first met Elvis Presley in the Army in 1958 and began working for him soon after they were both released from the service in 1960 until literally the day he died seventeen years later. Joe was Elvis' right hand man and head of the Memphis Mafia.

'If I Can Dream' was the dynamic production duo of Don Reedman (Barbra Streisand, Michael Crawford) and Nick Patrick (Plácido Domingo, Il Divo). Reedman first approached executive producer Priscilla Presley with the idea to marry vintage Elvis vocal tracks with the RPO at famed Abbey Road Studios in London, and it was an idea she wholly embraced. Buoyed by the reception of If I Can Dream, the production Dream Team reunited to emerge with another stellar Elvis/RPO offering, 'The Wonder of You: Elvis Presley With the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra' (RCA/Legacy), a worthy sequel if ever there was.

MRS have released the 2CD/100page book compilation titled 'Memphis Recording Service: The Complete Works 1953-1955' and our order is on the way to us. The 100-page book chronicles Elvis' short recording career there, from its humble beginnings (his personal acetate recordings from July 1953 and January 1954) through to the final Sun sessions in 1955. The full and comprehensive text is complemented by rare photographs and unseen pieces of documentation. The 2CD's contain the complete archival studio recordings from 1953-1955: Elvis' personal acetates, the Sun masters, along with rare session outtakes. The tracks have been painstakingly remastered and restored. There are many highlights on this new release. All of the newly remastered tracks now sound much clearer and crisper. Indeed, all previous erroneous mastering faults and miscalculations have been rectified on this release, making it the best collection thus far.

FTD have released 'Elvis Gold Records Vol. 4' as a Special Edition 2 CD set in their Classic Album Series, and our order is on the way to us now. It was 10 years after the release of Elvis' Golden Records in 1958, that RCA Victor released Elvis' Gold Records Volume 4. It contained seven 'B' sides and only five 'A' sides. Whether at the behest of Colonel Tom Parker, or RCA, the philosophy of not including tracks that already featured on existing albums weakened what could have been a more powerful and hit-laden compilation.

In Canada the album debuts at No. 40. In Europe; in Austria the album has debuted at No. 7. In Spain No. 57 on debut this week and in Switzerland the album has debuted at No. 15. In The UK it has dropped off the top spot, down to No. 2, while it remains at No. 2 in Scotland. Ireland from No. 6 to No. 7, Netherlands from No. 14 to No. 15, and in Belgium No. 14. In Australia the album has this week moved up one spot, from No. 4 to No. 3 on the ARIA Album Chart while in New Zealand it is up from No. 5 to No. 2. On the Global Album chart 'The Wonder of You' is a new entry at No. 7.

This is an excellent release no fan should be without it.
The 'parade' footage is good to see as it puts you in the right context with color and b&w footage. The interviews of Elvis' Parents are well worth hearing too. The afternoon show footage is wonderful and electrifying : Here is Elvis in his prime rocking and rolling in front of 11.000 people. Highly recommended.
