Yvonne Craig, a prolific film and television star during the 1960s, has died from complications of breast cancer. The actress, who was best known for starring as Batgirl on the 1966-1968 Batman series, was 78. Her star really took off in the 1960s, especially in 1964 and 1964, starring in two Elvis Presley movies -
It Happened At The World's Fair and
Kissin' Cousins. In 1966, she was cast as Batgirl/Barbara Gordon in the Adam West Batman series, which remains her most famous role.
Songwriter and producer
Bob Johnson passed on Friday Aug. 14 while in hospice care in Nashville. Johnston wrote at least 16 songs for
Elvis Presley's films between 1964 and 1968, including '
It Hurts Me', '
Let Yourself Go' and '
Stop, Look and Listen'. Two songs credited to Joy Byers, the aforementioned 'Stop, Look and Listen' and 'Yeah, She's Evil!' were recorded by Bill Haley & His Comets (the latter song was titled '
The Meanest Girl in Town' when Elvis recorded it). Elvis Presley recorded 'The Meanest Girl in Town' on June 10, 1964, while Bill Haley recorded his version a week later, on June 16, 1964.
Following the remarkable success of our 'From The Rick Rennie Mastertapes' series, it is time to move on to yet another exciting project. Straight Arrow is pleased to announce this new 2CD set, titled, Onondaga Nights featuring two concerts from the July/August Bicentennial tour, in topnotch audience recorded quality. It was somewhat problematic tour and especially at the end of July and first days of August, Elvis' voice was affected by some kind of laryngitis. Nevertheless, the two concerts from Onondaga War Memorial Auditorium in Syracuse are examples of two solid Presley concerts, with Presley sounding clear and enthusiastic, and in good voice. Both shows were taken directly from recently found original audience-recorded mastertapes.
After the major success of 827 Thomas Street here is 3764 Elvis Presley Blvd. This 2 CD set contains
all takes and alternate versions you will need beside your FTD collection featuring the Jungle Room recordings. You can make it all complete with this marvelous 2CD set, and above that, the tracks are remastered for optimal listening pleasure!
Now we finally have the
true story of Alice Cooper meeting Elvis. In the
video we now have you can see and hear Alice and what he really said and compare it too how the UK's Daily Mail distorted the story ...
The husband of
Ginger Alden, has passed away in a sad coincidence, on the 38th anniversary of the Elvis Presley's death, August 16, 2015. Alden was a 20-year-old Memphis resident when she joined her older sister Terry, then the reigning Miss Tennessee beauty queen, to visit Elvis Presley at his home, Graceland. Smitten by Ginger, Elvis soon charmed her with a private jet flight to Las Vegas, jewelry, a Lincoln Continental, and shopping excursions. Terry now lives in St. Louis.
Elvis Presley, who revolutionized American popular music with his earthy singing style and became a hero to two generations of rock 'n' roll fans, died yesterday in Memphis, Tenn. He was 42.
Change Of Habit' from
FTD books is a high quality photo book covering Elvis Presley's last feature film with over 400 pages containing over 150 unpublished photos combined with interesting articles and interviews with cast and crew. Bobby Emmons a member of The Memphis Boys, who worked with Elvis in 1969 on the sessions at American Studios. Bobby tells of playing with Elvis at American in 1969 and the first time he saw Elvis.
Rock Legends will soon release 'Las Vegas' Voice - Volume Two' featuring the complete unreleased performance from February 2, 1974 Midnight show. This second unreleased booth recording is another good quality product and also a good performance by Elvis. As about all performances recorded during that season, Elvis sounded in control and very relaxed in front of his fans and Las Vegas' crowd. If you enjoyed the first volume then the second volume is for you too ! You can ask your dealer for a sample!
AudiRec proudly presents: 'Elvis Closing Night 1975' - a brandnew CD Set which will be released shortly. What we get here is the complete '

what a package!!! Obviously not much new is learned on disc 1, hearing the first 10 album tracks again - except that the SOUND on this FTD really DOES seem excellent.
'
Elvis the King: The Authorized Book from the Graceland Archives' by Gillian G. Gaar tells the personal story of Elvis and his relationships with those near and dear to him and contains more than 75 colour and black and white photographs from the Graceland archives, accompanied by insightful text.

'Elvis Love Songs' 3LP Gatefold 180g Red Vinyl has just been released following the '
Love Songs 3 CD Set' earlier this year. The Elvis recordings collected here have now retained their appeal for over half a century. As Eighties chart-topper and confirmed Presley fan Huey Lewis says, 'The best way to appreciate his greatness is just to go back and play some of the old records. Time has a way of being very unkind to old records, but Elvis' keep getting better and better.' In other words - if you love music, you'll love Elvis' love songs ... especially on this superb 3LP gatefold edition on glorious red vinyl!

'Concha Time' features Elvis wearing the famous 'Concha' Suit with footage from two Dinner Shows edited to form one complete show. Strictly Limited To 250 Copies, this DVD for the
first time presents fans with
all film in true
WIDESCREEN, which gives a great new feel to both the official footage and unreleased film*. Unlike the '
TTWII Complete Shows' set, (which is still a must have) here you get ONE Elvis instead of multiple angles, which didn't get you 'into' the show. Also some hard to find angles have been used to give it a totally new experience! (* unreleased clips on previous releases were all in 4:3).
Out now on CD is 'Elvis Blue'. Originally released in Australia on the Starcall label in 1983 as a 19-track LP, with a beautiful painted Elvis portrait on the front sleeve, as the title suggest all tracks on this album had the word ‘Blue’ in it. The album was a great success, but it was never released on silver pressed CD. Until now! Housed in sealed cardsleeve, this is a stunning miniature vinyl-look CD release, that also includes some special bonus tracks!
A LIMITED EDITION OF ONLY 400 COPIES !!!
Out now on CD in beautiful sealed cardsleeves, a great collection of classic Camden / RCA albums. From 1968 to 1975, RCA Camden issued a series of compilation albums. This output primarily consisted of repackaging of Elvis Presley's 1960s-era movie soundtrack recordings. These albums were very successful, due to the low budget price and the great gatefold album sleeves. For many (young) fans these albums were their introduction to the music of Elvis Presley. Although these albums did not always contained the very best of Elvis’ recordings, The Camden albums taught many customers one valuable lesson: you may find gold, when you least expect it 'The Elvis Presley Collection' contained 3 volumes. Looking like miniature vinyl albums, these releases will bring back many of the happy memories from the good ol’ days. A LIMITED EDITION OF ONLY 400 COPIES !!!
Elvis Coming Home’ features a mixture with Elvis' songs and videos highlighting the fascinating late-sixties period. Since the first pressing sold out very fast, many Elvis fans missed out on it, so here is your chance to obtain this great release, which now features 5 bonus tracks, the rarest is the 68 medley: During the show NBC used one hand-held camera (ISO cam) to fill in the gaps made during the live control room switch, although the quality is less then we are used to you will get a live experience like never before!, with lots of surprises along the way.
The U.S. Postal Service will issue the Music Icons: Elvis Presley Commemorative Forever stamp and together with Sony Music's RCA/Legacy Recordings an exclusive music CD titled 'ELVIS FOREVER' that includes an Elvis song, as you've never heard it before. The CD will be available in select Post Offices beginning August 12.
Big Boss Man represents Elvis' 18th March - 1st April 1975 Las Vegas season. What we get is a full CD with parts of 3 shows from that season, giving us some rarely performed songs. While 5 songs have been previously released on 'Live in Las Vegas' 4 CD set, the 8 bonus songs are very nice additions to an essential CD representing a great Las Vegas season.
.. '
By Most Accounts Elvis was as happy and exhilarated as anyone around him had ever seen'. Once more presented with an artistic challenge, he embraced each day that brought the live show date nearer. He incessantly pondered his intended presentation, emphatically compiling and revising the set-list on a daily basis. Among the musical gems being considered were songs like '
The Wonder Of You', '
My Babe', '
The Impossible Dream', '
Suzy Q', and '
The Twelfth Of Never'. These selections were eventually omitted in favor of 'What Now My Love', 'Steamroller Blues', 'I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry', 'It's Over' and 'My Way'.
Next up in the Sony Music '
Legacy Edition' series is a reissue of '
Elvis Today'. A highlight of this set is the Undubbed 'Original Session mixes' that are
almost worthy of their own release in our opinion. Originally released in 1975. The Today sessions were held in RCA's Studio C, Hollywood, Los Angeles, California, March 10–12, 1975, and marked the last time Elvis Presley would record in a studio.
Priscilla Presley interviewed by Larry King August 16, 2007.
GMail's introduction of a 'promotions' tab continues to cause trouble, particually for anyone sending email (as we have too) via professional Email Service Providers (ESPs). This BIG move by Google changed dramaticaly email delivery to users email inboxs, some for the good, but all too often for the worse. That means, if WE send content to YOU, your Elvis newsletter will possibly be featured alongside spammy Promotional emails. Not only does this negatively affect us, it also puts YOU at risk of NOT getting your Elvis updates. Here's how to ensure you don't miss email Elvis Newsletters and Updates.
Big Boss Man provides us with a complete concert (77 minutes of mostly unreleased material) plus eight bonus songs from Elvis' twelfth season in Las Vegas, 18th March - 1st April, 1975, a year that would have many highs and lows for the forty year old superstar.
A valuable bonus inclusion is Elvis' only known recording of Bobby Darin's You're The Reason I'm Living - a true rarity, the song is charming and unrehearsed. The tracklisting provides a great overview of Elvis' return to live performances following a five-month absence. This CD is worth acquiring, as very few soundboards are available from this engagement. 'Big Boss Man' reveals a dedicated entertainer in strong voice doing what he loves best ... you will not be disappointed.
Jerry Scheff's original TCB necklace has been sold at auction for 11,970 euro ($13,364 USD).
Jerry Scheff, Elvis' bass player, received the 14K gold necklace from Elvis in the early 70s. While this would be something every Elvis fan would like to own, we think the price is a bit steep.
ElvisPresleyShop.com has an
identical pendant for sale for a whole lot less, made from the same mold and identical in size.

Sony Music has a major new CD release, 'If I Can Dream', due out in September. As we understand it the CD will NOT be a 'duets' album, (that has been known to be in consideration for some years, however we have been told this is NOT a 'duets' album), instead it will focus on ELVIS PRESLEY as the 'headline' artist while '
featuring, many artists including Michael Buble', and remixed with The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.
Priscilla Presley has spoken of the release with; 'Elvis' voice now sounds unleashed while attacking 'Bridge Over Troubled Water' with the orchestra fuming. He probably would have loved this album, because it stands where it always wanted to be: the best entertainer on the planet'.

Dolores Hart, the woman who gave Elvis his first on-screen kiss is asking for $9 million to restore her crumbling abbey. The most recent version of the renovation plan, dubbed New Horizons, calls for a new chapel (the ceiling is sagging), housing and other environmentally friendly and disabled accessible spaces to live and pray. More than anything, they need more space. In the documentary

The King of Rock 'n' Roll is born: The making of Elvis, behind the scenes Hardcover Book by Chris Murray (Editor),
Alfred Wertheimer (Photographer), Robert Santelli (Contributor) will be released in June. 'Elvis who?' was photographer Alfred Wertheimer's response when, in early 1956, an RCA Victor publicist asked him to photograph an up-and-coming crooner from Memphis. Little did Wertheimer know that this would be the job of his life: just 21 years old, Elvis Presley was - as we now know - about to become a legend.
The World Knows Elvis Presley, but They Don't Know Me Hardcover Book has been written by a person who conducts Elvis, (and other musical stars), tours and knows what he is talking about. This is a refreshing book on Elvis and a pleasure to read. The author is not one of the 'bash the fat junkie Elvis' writers and you can tell he loves his subject. At the same time he does destroy several myths in his writing and sets the record straight on the
Memphis Mafia and Tom Parker If you are fed up with the usual trash that is on the market about the greatest entertainer that has ever lived and would like to read what he was really like and how his own so - called 'friends' acted towards behind his back and ripped him off then this book is for you. Buy it, read it and have your eyes open.
This concert was released nine (9) years ago as a double CD set titled 'The Elvis Presley Show : Holding Down The Fort' and featured part of the opening acts on the first CD. The original tape had some damages and omissions, and therefore the show was made complete while using the same songs performed a month later at the same venue. It was well edited and runs as a complete show. It isn't most popular period for Elvis' concert but the two shows recorded in Fort Worth, TX turned out to be rather good at the time. The sound engineer Bruce Jackson was on a lucky and bad day altogether, but Elvis' mood turned the situation into a good one for his best sounding man on tour.
In an interview for 'Daily Mail' (UK),
Nancy Sinatra was asked who her dream dinner date would be. She said: 'Elvis. He always made me laugh. He was silly, funny and such a lovely guy to be around. When we did our movie (
Speedway) he had a tandem made for the two of us. He'd say: 'Nancy, let's go for a ride', and then we'd go off and within seconds all these Elvis fans would descend on us and we wouldn't get more than a few minutes cycling done. But it was fun. He loved life. He loved to laugh.

The 'parade' footage is good to see as it puts you in the right context with color and b&w footage. The interviews of Elvis' Parents are well worth hearing too. The afternoon show footage is wonderful and electrifying : Here is Elvis in his prime rocking and rolling in front of 11.000 people. Highly recommended.
