The new book '
Elvis On Tour 1970 Vol. 2' is without a doubt THE very best book ever on this important part of Elvis' seventies career. 1970 was the year when the Elvis Road Show hit 'the road' again, and this wonderful book gives details about the second half of that year. Combined with Volume 1, this is a must-have set for every Seventies-junkie. And we're not the only ones to praise the book, see below for more:

One of Elvis' most beloved back-up singers,
Millie Kirkham, passed away on Sunday in Nashville. Millie, 91, suffered a stroke last week. Millie sang back-up for Elvis both in the studio and on the stage but she is perhaps best known for coming up with, and performing, the famous 'woo-ooh-ooh' part in 'Blue Christmas'. Elvis didn't want to record the song and told Millie and her fellow singers to sing something so silly that RCA would never release it. Of course, the song was released - and it's now a holiday classic.

Audionics is aware that these shows were released before (by the Graceland Records label, 2007 and official Sony/FTD label, 2007). To bring out the ultimate sound quality, Audionics worked with direct transfers of the original mastertapes.
In a never-before-seen photograph by Hollywood legend Nat Dallinger, Elvis Presley and Juliet Prowse attend a movie dinner after a special screening of their forthcoming movie G.I. Blues. The co-stars attended a studio-hosted buffet dinner to promote the film to exhibitors. Prowse, appearing in only her second major motion picture, apparently worked hard to perk up his mood.

He Touched Me: The Gospel Music of Elvis Presley. Brilliant, sincere, touching could all be used to describe this two part documentary and no more would need to be said but then again the purpose of a review is to give the reader an in-depth description of what is being reviewed. This two part documentary, narrated by Sander Vanocur, is definitely a labor of love and the sincerity of all involved shines through time and time again. The documentary delves deeply into exploring the religious side of Elvis' life, which most Elvis fans knew existed, but had only heard little snippets of prior to this documentary.
Jim Cox, author of '
Inside Graceland: Elvis' Maid Remembers', has done a wonderful job telling Jeanne LeMay Dumas's story in the riveting '
Elvis, Linda & Me'. Miss Dumas has been
Linda Thompson's best friend since they met in 1972 as they competed for the title of Miss USA. With so many Presley books in print, it's rare that a new project will be so chock full of never-before-told stories and unpublished photographs that you want to tell everybody you know to go out and purchase a copy, but that's exactly how I feel about this book. For my money, the candids of Elvis in his Karate outfit/black belt during his June 1973 concert tour, with Lisa Marie in a Nashville hotel room in-between shows and unseen photos of Elvis' bedroom were worth the price of the book... and then some!
Coming soon isthe final Straight Arrow's single-digipack release of 2014 - 'Meet Me…at Del Webb's Sahara Tahoe!', featuring May 26th, 1974 Midnight show. While Elvis was alive, many fans dreamt of a chance to meet the man. The best chance that people had to meet him was at the Sahara in Lake Tahoe, where the intimacy of the showroom gave Elvis the possibility to interact with his fans ‘upclose and personal’. Those that were lucky enough to witness the star during one of his shows there in May ’74, witnessed a charismatic performer in full control of his art and his audience.
For all his accomplishments, perhaps Elvis Presley's greatest, and unknown legacy was his enormous generosity, unknown until now. With the use of new interviews, on-location filming, classic footage and photos,
Elvis A Generous Heart takes you through the history of a shy, humble country boy always ready to share his love, and treasures, with friends, family and even complete strangers. For the hardcore Elvis fan there is perhaps too much same old. But the new material and unseen footage on offer go a long way, offering a new insight and appreciation of the world's greatest entertainer.
With
I'll Remember You, FTD finally gives us a brand 'new' show from February 3, 1973 Midnight Show in Las Vegas. Before the release, incorrect 'rumours' were going around that this would be the Dinner Show of the same date, that was already released way back on the Fort Baxter's
It's a Matter Of Time CD release in 1993!
The touchdown label has chosen the July 22nd 1975 show from Asheville for their next release. 'Still Crazy After All These Years!' is a 2 CD Set and said to be a Superb audience sound recording. Many fans know: that the tour with which Elvis stopped for 3 days also in Asheville just made the best tours Elvis in his career. It is also the tour where he for the last time gave still really energetic shows, then he never again approached completely these great concerts.
Following the remarkable success of our earlier 3CD set 'On A Winning Streak', Straight Arrow is pleased to announce another 3CD collection featuring three more unreleased shows from the Summer 1973 engagement in excellent quality audience recorded audio. The three shows are all strong shows, with Elvis vocally strong (much more than in February '73) and delivering a very varied selection of songs at each of the shows. It's clear that he is in his element here, as his entertaining interaction with the audience and his knock-out vocal performances amply demonstrate.
Coming out soon is the new Straight Arrow's double-digipak CD release, called 'Lightning Strikes Twice In Portland!', featuring the November 11th, 1970 and April 27th, 1973 Portland shows. These shows may well represent some of best of Elvis Presley live in the 70s. The Nov. 11th, 1970 recording really captures the raw excitement and electricity of those early tours. Elvis delivers a high octane performance that drives the audience in a frenzy.
The MxF label will release soon the second volume of 'Wild Tiger in Concert' entitled 'Magnetic As Ever', featuring the Spokane, April 28, 1973 8.00 PM Show. The April Tour represent the first tour of the year, Elvis on tour means Elvis at the top of his possibilities. The 1973 is still a rocking Elvis, but without doubt is the year when all the demons come to the surface, maybe everything has to change to remain the same ... .
The next release in the '
Bootleg Series' is '
Something Special For Everybody'. This CD comes with an eight page booklet and contains 29 tracks including: 'Something For Everybody' the original mono album masters, the alternate album with many alternate takes previously unreleased by the record company, the movie versions from 'Put The Blame On Me' and 'I Slipped, I Stumbled, I Fell'.
New from 'Star' is the 'Bossa Nova Baby : The Ultimate Party DVD'. This great release includes all 24 (!!) tracks from the European version and some bonuses!
'Hollywood Elvis' Volume 5 DVD features 55 clips from the late sixties, including some rare footage on the set, and hard to find pictures. The bonus section includes some alternate edits and rare outtakes. Including the following five movies in chronological order: 'Frankie And Johnny', 'Paradise Hawaiian Style', 'Spinout', 'Easy Come, Easy Go' and 'Double Trouble'.
Heineken have issued a company profit downgrade (forecast) and a company executive (when talking to the BBC) has jokingly put the blame on the recent Elvis themed commercial using 'Bossa Nova Baby'.

'King of the Hilton' is a book about Elvis Presley in Las Vegas, seen through the eyes of someone who was there. After many requests from fans, respected Elvis writer and researcher Anne E Nixon, (author of 'Ten Years After' and 'The Elvis Archives'), is for the first time publishing her detailed show reports from the Vegas years. Anne attended 40 Elvis Presley shows from 1972-1976, and wrote copious notes on each performance. A few of her show reports were printed in books and magazines at the time, but only now has she opened the vaults and every show she attended is given in-depth coverage

Sony Music Japan has released a new CD; Elvis Presley Selection:
Eiichi Ohtaki's Juke Box. The CD contains a selection of well-known sings, with 20 tracks: (Eiichi Ohtaki (大瀧 詠一 Ōtaki Eiichi?) (July 28, 1948 – December 30, 2013) was a Japanese musician, singer-songwriter and record producer. He first became known as a member of the influential rock band Happy End, but was better known for his solo work).
Will McDaniel met Elvis Presley in 1957 at Rainbow Skating Rink. In this video, Will talks about how he earned the nickname Bardahl from Elvis that evening.
It seems only fair that the man known as 'the King of Rock 'n' Roll' should be the king of this list.
Drafted by the U.S. Army just as he was experiencing a rise to stardom seldom seen before or since in popular music, Presley didn't shirk from his duty and found himself trading in his leather jacket for combat fatigues. He entered the Army as a regular GI at Ft. Chaffee on March 24, 1958. As his famously tousled hair was shaved down to regulation length, he cracked, 'Hair today, gone tomorrow.' His induction was a major event, with hundreds of overlookers and media there to witness it.
Former Los Angeles Times pop music critic Robert Hilburn, author of the acclaimed 2013 biography 'Johnny Cash: A Life', has agreed to write the ultimate biography of Paul Simon. And yes, Elvis is never far away. By way of example, Paul Simon shared an anecdote about talking to Simon about one of his musical heroes, Elvis Presley. 'He loved the way Elvis sounded on
Heartbreak Hotel, the way he looked on television and his exotic Southern background', Hilburn said.

TNT Records' have announced, 'Bicentennial Superstar' will be their fourth CD release, again with a little help from 'our friends at 'Audionics', probably THE premium and still active label when it comes to rare recordings in best possible sound - we decided to take a closer look to the extremely busy Elvis in the Summer of 1976. (Does it sound more like these are in fact the same people). As we all know it was a time when Elvis actually should have cared a lot more for himself than for his fans. Money might also have been some kind of reason to continue restless touring and the quality of his performances were in many cases merely a shadow of the past. Still Elvis' popularity was tremendous and it seemed so easy to sell out every single show. And so he did on the two nights featured in this 2 CD set.
On 4 December 1956, four up-and-coming singers came together, largely by accident, at a Memphis recording studio. Inevitably the four began an impromptu jam session, some of which was taped by studio engineers. And that spontaneous, informal get-together became the stuff of legend, the four individuals being Elvis Presley, Carl Perkins, Johnny Cash and Jerry Lee Lewis AKA 'The Million Dollar Quartet'. Author Stephen Miller recreates that singular moment in rock history in '
The Million Dollar Quartet: Jerry Lee, Carl, Elvis & Johnny' Hardcover Book, a 2013 Omnibus Press release.
Alfred Wertheimer, the photographer whose portraits of Elvis Presley documented the birth of a music legend, has died. Wertheimer, who was 85, died of natural causes Sunday at his New York apartment.

Coming out soon is the new Straight Arrow's double-digipak CD release 'A New Decade, A New Sound', featuring the February 3rd and 5th, 1970 Dinner shows. Looking back at Elvis' final decade of live shows, there are two Las Vegas engagements that stand out: the August '69 one obviously, but certainly also the one in February '70. Whereas the '69 comeback shows were a natural extension of the NBC '68 special with a strong focus on his classic hits, the second engagement From the way he performed these songs, you could tell that he really loved them and genuinely enjoyed the new direction his career was now taking.
WMHS TV-13 from Murray High School interviews Sandi Pichon at Marlowe's Restaurant in Memphis, Tennessee. Sandi met Elvis Presley on several occasions and student Aileen O'Brien talks with Sandi about her experiences.
In 1956, Sandi Pichon was a bored 11-year-old girl sweating out summer living in Memphis, Tenn., when she got the idea to knock on rising star Elvis Presley's back door. Such was the beginning of her years-long friendship with one of the most famous entertainers of all time. Don't miss viewing this!

Sir
Tom Jones is reportedly set to lift the lid on his lengthy career by writing a tell-all book. The Welsh singer, who performed at this year's AFL grand final, has signed a lucrative deal with a UK publishing house, according to Britains Mail on Sunday publication. According to the report, Jones will reveal all about his friendships with stars including Elvis and Frank Sinatra. The book is reportedly set for release next year.
To be released soon is new CD 'Tryin' To Get To Tahoe' (label E.P. Collector, EPC 2014-02) recorded at the Lake Tahoe, NV, May 16, 1974 Opening show. Elvis' spring '74 shows were consistently strong, and the May concerts in Lake Tahoe were no exception. Elvis' shows there were solid and entertaining, and he was in particularly good voice. The set lists offered a wide variety of music, and Elvis' commitment and enthusiasm made these intimate shows very memorable for those who were lucky enough to attend them. The show on this CD has never been released in any form, and this very decent, digitally restored
audience recording gives you a unique perspective of what it was like to experience him in person in Lake Tahoe during this engagement.
Following the very popular limited edition release on Blu-ray of

Great voices don't always make beautiful music together - because collaborations don't just require exceptional pipes, they also demand vocal harmony and good chemistry. So, does 'Love Me Tender', Barbra Streisand's duet with Elvis Presley, make the grade? We're happy to note that the song is one of the best tracks in the 72-year-old diva's 34th studio album, '
Partners'.
The book, '
Channeling Elvis: How Television Saved the King of Rock 'n' Roll' by Allen J. Wiener will be released in October 2014. Based on more than a decade of research, dozens of fresh interviews, and careful review of hours of television and other footage, this book focuses on Elvis' TV career and the role it played in creating, sustaining, and reviving his unrivaled popularity.
Nancy Graff talks about when she met Elvis in December of 1971.
Del Puschert's most prized possessions are two scraps of fabric, each about six inches long and frayed at the edges. One is lavender-colored cotton with faint white lines forming a rectangular pattern; the other is black wool with thin pinstripes and a zipper attached. At first glance, they're nothing special. In fact, if they weren't framed together and hung on the wall of Puschert's Annapolis home, you'd pay them no mind. Puschert stands before the scraps like a pilgrim in the presence of a reliquary. 'There they are', he says, dialing back his boisterous voice to a murmur. For rock-and-roll devotees, the scraps do, indeed, have near-religious significance - they were cut from a jacket and pants that clothed Elvis Presley.
View, and listen to an amazing testimony of meeting Elvis, and even as fans becoming friends, Donna Lewis first met Elvis in July 1962 at Graceland.

FTD Vinyl has released 'Hot August Night' as a Limited Edition Vinyl 2-Disc Vinyl Set. Previously release only on CD, this is the first ever issue on vinyl of this concert! From the review of the CD 'Elvis was in fine form on this 'Hot August Night' of the 25th of August 1969, a performance perhaps never to be beaten. For those that only read the summery of reviews, I can be quite clear, this concert is without doubt the best live recording released to-date of Elvis Presley in 1969, and is one of the best concerts Elvis Presley ever performed - both in sound quality and performance! So crystal clear stereo sound and a great performance.
In the summer of 1954, Elvis Presley released his first single. He had one problem: He couldn't play it. The aspiring 19-year-old singer was living with his parents at 462 Alabama Avenue in Memphis, Tennessee. With rent at $50 a month, his family was too poor to afford a record player. So, as he often did, Elvis turned to his upstairs neighbours for help - Rabbi Alfred Fruchter and Jeannette Fruchter, his wife.
Barbra Streisand's new album, '
Partners' will include a duet with Elvis, the CD features '12 inimitable new Streisand duets with the world's greatest male vocalists'. This is the legendary artist's first duets album in more than a decade, and debuts new studio recordings of Streisand classics and others songs.
View a video of Barbra Streisand telling the story of how her virtual duet with Elvis Presley came to be and the magic they created in studio and of her meeting the King, in this exclusive clip. 'Because I met him a couple of times, it was very easy. It felt like our spirits were kind of touching'. : Barbra Streisand.

It seems the very public 'negotiations' between EPE and the owners of the 'Lisa Marie' (OKC Partnership) continues with the Memphis based company apparently putting both planes up for sale. However the jets namesake, Lisa Marie Presley has responded to fans saying they 'are not for sale', so it seems the dysfunctional maneuvering between the two parties continues. EPE are trying to obtain a better, more affordable lease agreement, but the negotiations are not for the faint hearted with EPE seemingly playing hard-ball telling the owners to remove the planes (or, we assume, agree to terms) and the planes owners playing on the sympathies of Elvis fans ...
Ginger Alden's book, '
Elvis and Ginger: Elvis Presley's Fiancée and Last Love Finally Tells Her Story' has been released. The following is from the publisher ... 'For over three decades Ginger has held the truth of their relationship close to her heart. Now she shares her unique story, and while a lot has been written about the King, the Elvis we meet in this long-anticipated memoir is a revelation'. 'In her own words Ginger details their whirlwind romance - from first kiss to his stunning proposal of marriage. She details his exploration of Eastern religions, his perception of being a 'legend', his devotion to family and friends, and her attempt to know the insular group surrounding Elvis. And for the very first time she talks about the devastating end of it all, and the 50,000 mourners and reporters who descended on Graceland in 1977, exposing Ginger to the reality of living in the spotlight of a short, yet immortal, life'.

The forthcoming release from the 'SR' label is titled 'Living the Pain' and will feature the unreleased show from Las Vegas February 21, 1972. As everybody knows SR concentrates it's work on early 70's live period of Elvis' activity, trying to produce always unreleased shows with Elvis at the top of his possibilities. With the new release, we are proud to present the complete show from February 21 midnight show, a rare show from a Las Vegas winter season with few official and unofficial releases. Elvis' love of singing is clear in this tape and we are glad to give you the opportunity to listen to it.

Backdraft has now released the 2 separate 'Final Count to Midnight' titles, housed in a SUPER DELUXE jewel case. The 2CD version and a separate DVD only release, both with different front covers, contain a deluxe 24 page booklet inside of each. We would like to point out that the content of the booklet in both of the releases are entirely different and that, the photographs and text information are not repeated ON EACH of the releases. Of note, we are delighted to be able to tell you that it is now 100% complete - for the first time ever (Roughly an overall extension of 6 minutes). Due to the enormous success of Backdraft's Box set 'Final Count to Midnight' it appears that not enough copies were pressed which have left Elvis fans having to go without.
Never before have we seen an Elvis Presley concert from the 1950's with sound. Until Now! The DVD Contains recently discovered unreleased film of Elvis performing 6 songs, including Heartbreak Hotel and Don't Be Cruel, live in Tupelo Mississippi 1956. Included we see a live performance of the elusive Long Tall Sally seen here for the first time ever.
+ Plus Bonus DVD Audio.
This is an excellent release no fan should be without it.
The 'parade' footage is good to see as it puts you in the right context with color and b&w footage. The interviews of Elvis' Parents are well worth hearing too. The afternoon show footage is wonderful and electrifying : Here is Elvis in his prime rocking and rolling in front of 11.000 people. Highly recommended.
