Originally released in November 1970, 'Elvis: That's The Way It Is' combined eight studio tracks, recorded in Nashville, and four live concert performances recorded in Las Vegas during Presley's 1970 'Summer Festival' season at The International Hotel in Las Vegas. Elvis played dozens of times at The International Hotel in 1969 and 1970 over several number of weeks. Elvis was on a roll and making big plans - including a feature film and studio time in Nashville. This brand new 4LP version, That's The Way It Is (Deluxe Edition) centers on one show at The International which was recorded and partially filmed by MGM. These show recordings are released for the first time in their entirety. Most of Elvis' musicians prefer not to talk about Elvis' final tours, but whenever they do, they usually agree that final tour was one that should have never been undertaken. It was simply one tour too many. At this stage it was impossible to hide the fact that Elvis was in serious problems. However, the Lincoln concert is one of the finest shows from that last tour. Elvis sounds much better than in Omaha the day before. Straight Arrow's sound engineer was able to restore all 73 minutes of the Lincoln concert ... The August 24th, 1973 dinner show is unreleased in any form. From an excellent sounding 'booth' tape.

Backdraft : 2 'Super Jewel Case' Deluxe Versions Of 'Final Countdown To Midnight'
Due to the enormous success of Backdraft's Box set 'Final Count to Midnight' not enough copies were pressed which have left Elvis fans having to go without. Since 'Backdraft' are unable to process more copies of the box set due to logistical reasons, they will now release 'Super Jewel Case' Deluxe Versions of the 'Final Countdown To Midnight' set. A 2 CD version and a separate DVD only release, both with different front covers, contain a deluxe 24 page booklet inside of each, housed in a deluxe 'super jewel case' (See images). 'We would like to point out that the content of the booklet in both of the releases are entirely different from the box set that was recently released and that, the photographs and text information are not repeated to each of the releases'

'Elvis: That's the Way It Is' Blu-ray
Warner Brothers Senior Vice-President of Catalog Marketing George Feltenstein has provided more details on the 12 outtakes included as special features on the 'Elvis: That's The Way It Is : Two Disc Special Edition' Blu-ray due out on August 12. As suspected, the content mirrors that of the 2007 2-DVD set, except with a new twist. On DVD, the outtakes were presented in abysmal quality, but on Blu-ray, they will be pristine. 'The Blu-ray has high-definition, incredible new presentation, [and an] all-new master, but we also have, with really impressive quality, additional songs that were not included in the Special Edition. They were on a prior DVD but ... we were unable to locate the actual master tapes that had the outtakes, and, finally, now, that tape was located, and that is now on the Blu-ray.

60 Years of Rock 'n' Roll Celebration in Memphis
Memphis celebrated the 60th anniversary of rock 'n' roll this past weekend with a variety of rockin’ events across the city known as the Birthplace of Rock 'n' Roll. On July 5, 1954, Elvis walked into Memphis Recording Service, now known as Sun Studio, and recorded a fast version of Arthur Crudup's 'That's All Right' with guitarist Scotty Moore and bassist Bill Black. In honor of this special anniversary, the action packed weekend included a fireworks show, live music concert, new exhibit opening and much more.
Hardball negotiations over the 'Lisa Marie'
It does seem clear that both EPE and the owners of the 'Lisa Marie' are involved in some heavy hardball negotiations over how much of the ticket receipts EPE pays the planes owners. Clearly the planes owners have released the news, first to the 'Associated Press' and now in the form of a copy of the letter from Jack Soden of EPE in an effort to garner Elvis fan reaction so to help any such negotiations with EPE to go more in their favour, in response to EPE trying a good old fashioned bluff that they are happy to see the planes removed while trying to re-negotiate the price agreement down.

This rather disturbing 'Associated Press' report really makes us concerned about the direction EPE is taking Elvis' legacy and particularly the 'Graceland' name of late : For 30 years, tourists from around the world have paid money to get a look at two airplanes once owned by Elvis Presley at Graceland in Memphis. Fans enjoy touring the planes for their direct connection to Elvis Presley and his jet-setting lifestyle, a sort of touchstone to the life of the King of Rock and Roll and his family.

FTD Books have released their new book, 'Memphis To Nashville '61' and our order is on the way to us now. This book gives a comprehensive account of the two Memphis charity shows that Elvis performed at the Ellis Auditorium on a cold day in February 1961.
The Return To Vegas 1969 Soundboard Concert CD from FTD
FTD has released 'The Return To Vegas' and our order is on the way to us. This is the official release of the soundboard recording that Joan Deary planned as a double album release back in the late seventies. It's the earliest known professional recording from Elvis' 1969 engagement in Las Vegas. The original tape box has 'opening night' written on the back, but that's not the real date. Some experts believe it's from August 3, but we have no information whatsoever to suggest a certain date. However, the arrangements seem to suggest that this show is definitely several days earlier than the shows RCA recorded from August 20 and onwards.
Las Vegas, December 07, 1976 CD
'Las Vegas, December 07, 1976' is the title of a new release of the only known available soundboard recording from Elvis' last Vegas season. Now newly remastered and for the first time available in the right speed!!! This show was first released on the cd 'Run On' in 1997. Although this is a soundboard recording, the sound quality is not very good. Whilst the sound quality is disappointing for a soundboard, the unusual circumstances of this show make it worthwhile to listen to. And as stated above, now you can hear this show for the first time on cd in remastered sound and in the right speed!

Here's another book of which fans have high expectations. 'Elvis : We'll Remember You' is the 1.2 kilo heavy book by Ed Bonja, who worked as an official tour photographer and tour manager during 1970 – 1977. Ed took some 10,000 photos of Elvis live on stage, and backstage. This new release focuses on the seventies. The live section of the book covers all the concert years (1970 – 1975) when Ed used his camera. There will be quite a lot of material from 1972, which seems, in a way, to be Ed’s 'top year'. The countless b/w and color photos of the book show the clowning, rocking, smiling, moody Elvis – even lying on stage – and most of all: giving his all as an entertainer: singing!

Blues' masters are the original mono masters as released in 1960, including 'Tonight's All Right For Love'. Also you can hear almost 40 minutes private home recordings recorded in Waco Texas, May 1958. This recording was edited on the release 'Off Duty with Private Presley', now you can hear the complete unedited recording! New Graceland Hotel Approved
The Memphis-Shelby County Land Use Control Board approved a proposal from Elvis Presley Enterprises to build a 450-room hotel on the same side of Elvis Presley Boulevard as the historic Graceland mansion.

The book, 'Elvis : We'll Remember You' by Ed Bonja will be released in July. This hardback release will contain many unseen photos of the King of Rock 'n' Roll and will be limited to 1000 copies. Photos for this publication were taken by Ed Bonja, who worked as Tour Manager and Official Photographer from 1970 to 1977. During that period he took some 10,000 photos of Elvis and various happenings in conjunction with the tours and engagements. Ed's photos were routinely used on all kinds of souvenir materials promoting Elvis' tours, Las Vegas and Lake Tahoe engagements. In addition, most photos used on the single and LP covers from the 70's are from Ed. Elvis' movies and I | A review of the Hollywood Elvis DVDs
When I think about Elvis' movies, I sometimes think back to when I first 'discovered' Elvis Presley (January of 1978) and my first impressions of 'Elvis movies'. What I always recall is initially enjoying these films but cringing when Elvis would start singing, probably nothing against Elvis, just that to my mind movies were for acting not singing, as such I could not stand it when the story was interrupted But then after a while (probably) I learned to love both (So I assume this part) but then it developed (I assume slowly evolved) into actually watching the movies FOR Elvis' singing and as the movies got 'tired' as in I had seen them often I began to lose interest in the actual movie and just watch for the songs. Which (I guess) eventually led to a decline in overall interest.

Broadway Show about Priscilla
Priscilla Presley revealed in an interview with George Klein that she is currently working on a Broadway show about her life. Priscilla didn't reveal many details but she did say that it focused on her teenage years and how she met Elvis. No word on when this production will launch.

FTD will be issuing a FREE replacement disc 1 for 'Destination USA' as there was a mastering fault on the original pressing. These discs will be sent out - to us - with the new release, 'Love Me Tender'. While we do hope many can order the replacement disc with some other new item(s), WE cannot believe that some fan clubs are not only asking their members to return the faulty disc, and at their cost!!!, they are also asking they pay postage for the replacement disc. After being preserved and showcased during the Charlotte Motor Speedway AutoFair, officials helped return the 1973 Stutz Blackhawk III to its home at the Elvis Presley Car Museum. New 'Today, Tomorrow & Forever' set is a winner
Sony Music's re-release of the box set Today, Tomorrow & Forever is a winner. Why? While it is 'cut down' it is only slightly so, the new set is about 75% the size of the original but importantly it is other than that the same 'book' type presentation, it looks identical just a touch (25%) smaller. But way cheaper than the original release. We still have a couple of the original sets -- at the same price as the new set -- but if you miss out on one of these you would have no reason to be concerned!!! The 'parade' footage is good to see as it puts you in the right context with color and b&w footage. The interviews of Elvis' Parents are well worth hearing too. The afternoon show footage is wonderful and electrifying : Here is Elvis in his prime rocking and rolling in front of 11.000 people. Highly recommended.
