'Alright, Okay, You Win' CD audience recording from Straight Arrow.
Here we have two Reviews of
Rebooked and at the International ... we get
superb sound and more of a concert feel with much Elvis dialogue originally cut - here for the first time. ... I am incredibly glad I took the plunge and invested in this release. The content (released and unreleased) is top notch and presented well, and great care was obviously taken in packaging, graphic design, and acquiring rare photos (and excellent sources for them). They don't come around like this every day. This is a release worthy of the engagement it represents.
'... you won't listen to the Sony 'On Stage' release ever again after hearing this ...'
In FTD's '
classic album' series we now release the third, and last, of Elvis' original gospel albums: The Grammy Award winning '
He Touched Me' - 2 CDs including the original LP master and, as usual, session outtakes and a 12-booklet with all relevant historical data and illustrations.
This CD will be released by FTD mid October.
FTD vinyl is pleased to announce the release of this special 2-disc 180-gram vinyl set,
Elvis Sings Guitar Man.
FTD have released full information on the next releases, now expected to be released
mid October. Due to a change in FTD's manufacturing situation, the release date may change but October 11-13 is out target date. An update will follow if this changes. The next batch of releases is set for late November.
This deluxe 4 CD set released by Backdraft is the ultimate January/February 1970 engagement package. 'Rebooked at the International' features multi-track recordings by RCA including unreleased leftovers that did not make the 'On Stage' album. These are the original rough mixes made by Felton Jarvis in early 1970 in preparation for the up-coming 'On Stage' album. No repairs, No overdubs! ... The tracks are unedited, with extra long unedited dialogue in between songs that also were never included on the album.
This is the 'On Stage' album that was meant to be, no overdubs, unedited and raw on stage directly from multi-track tapes.
'Elvis Christmas Album' has been awarded a Diamond Award for the sale of 10 million albums.
In a couple of weeks, we can expect the FTD titles
48 Hours to Memphis and
He Touched Me both in the 7" classic albujm format. And there will be the vinyl release of
Elvis Sings Guitar Man.
A little known Elvis fact has been revealed by car designer McLaren. They state on their website that Elvis Presley drove the very first Elva M1A group 7 car in his 1966 hit film, 'Spinout'. There were only a limited number of this model ever built, and while the car was never owned by Elvis, it is another first to add to the list! However, the McLMaren is NOT the white car with the '11' sticker on the hood, but it's the gold car. The white car is a 1965 Shelby Cobra. The gold car, [No. 5], makes its first appearance at 1:07 secs on the video.
The MxF label will soon release the third volume of the 'Wild Tiger at The Hilton' series this time featuring the unreleased audience recording from Las Vegas February 06, 1974 Dinner Show.
Elvis Presley and Tom Jones : Flamingo Hotel, Las Vegas : April 6, 1968. The day Elvis Presley led Standing ovation For Tom Jones. Elvis reportedly said 'You lit a fire in me tonight, 'I'm going to tell that old man I need to get back on the road'. And, sure enough, he phoned the Colonel the following day to demand that instead of signing him up to make more indifferent movies he had to set up a stage comeback.

To hear again in proper historical context what Presley did naturally to material by Big Joe Turner (
Shake Rattle & Roll), Carl Perkins (
Blue Suede Shoes), Ray Charles (
I Got A Woman), Little Richard (
Tutti Frutti) and Rodgers & Hart's 1934
Blue Moon is to realize the extent of his interpretive genius. And how much more self-assured he sounds on Disc #2! It's like night and day.

Video interview with Ernst Jorgensen. Ernst talks about his becoming an Elvis fan as a teenager, discovering Elvis tapes in the RCA vaults, including songs such as 'A Hundred Years From Now' and tapes that should have been in the vaults but were not. Ernst also talks about his mastering of Elvis' songs and the challenges involved, Elvis' duets with
Ann Margret and
Elvis Movies including his 'greatest movie',
Elvis That's The Way It Is. And finally,
Meeting Priscilla for the first time and her playing him 'My Happiness', and telling Ernst 'we think this is Elvis', and then the discovery of the second acetate - and much more.
Did Elvis really shoot TVs?
EU Regulators are set to give the music industry a boost by extending copyright protection by 20 years. Recordings will now be under copyright for 70 years, making it illegal for anyone to distribute them without permission. The EU council will rubber-stamp the changes on Monday, meaning member states will be required to write them into law within two years. Recordings that were due to fall out of copyright protection over the next month including Elvis Presley's
Little Sister among others will now not.

'
Sittin' On Top of the World' double CD set
has just been released by Gravelroad: This awesome new two-CD set, 'Sittin' On Top of the World,' is the sequel to Gravelroad Music's '

FTD will release 48 hours to Memphis in September. A Live Concert from March 18, 1974 in Richmond Virginia. This recording was made 2 days before Recorded Live On Stage In Memphis. It's an unbelievable discovery: The recording 48 hours to Memphis came from a newly discovered, unmarked tape which later appeared to be a copy of the 16-track stereo recording machine. People who attended the concert from Richmond and heard 48 hours to Memphis believe that this recording came closest to the actual experience of an Elvis Presley concert. This CD will be presented as an 7" Classic album with a 16-page booklet featuring never before seen photos of the actual concert.
Out now from Venus Productions is a new CD, Unedited Masters : Stax 1973 in great sound quality. The first fourteen tracks feature mostly unedited overdub masters and some undubbed masters, all recorded during the famous Stax 1973 sessions. One of the highlights is definitely the complete unedited master of Promised Land with vocal harmony by Elvis himself, and partly used in the movie and on the album 'This Is Elvis'.
Following
This Is Elvis and
I Was The One is the 1971 '
Come On Everybody' album as originally released on RCA Camden. This 'classic' release will be presented in a
full color glossy three panel digipack with the original tracks along with five additional bonus tracks and two unreleased versions of songs from the album.
FTDs
Frankie And Johnny Soundtack CD will be re-released when FTD 'have made the neccessary corrections'. This will be 'probably in September/October'. More info when we have it.
In a few days, 'Straight Arrow' will release a new CD called 'Atlanta Bound'.
Down At The End Of Paradise Road : the previously-unreleased audience recording from Thursday, August 30, 1973 Midnight Show at the Hilton Hotel, Las Vegas, NV will be released by the Straight Arrow label.
To be released August 24, 2011: Rainbow Records proudly presents Volume 6 of their series 'Vegas Variety', featuring the performance of August 24, 1974 Dinner Show at the Las Vegas Hilton Hotel, Nevada.
The July 1, 1974 concert included with the new FTD book release, Fashion For A King proves that you do not have to have a stereo recording to have A grade sound quality. And this soundboard recorded concert is in A grade sound quality and it also may just about present us with Elvis' best concert performance from 1974, to my ears it is anyway. The sound is crystal clear and Elvis is in top vocal form, he certainly gives a far better overall performance, in my opinion, than the famous Recorded Live On Stage In Memphis concert recorded just three months prior ... The book is stunning ... a photo book ... also a tremendous photo book detailing Elvis' jumpsuit's and a detailed information book and then it is of course a great reference book ...
Sad news. Jerry Leiber has died at age 78. Jerry Leiber, one of the most important songwriters in the history of rock & roll - whose 50-year partnership with Mike Stoller produced 'Stand By Me', 'Hound Dog', 'Jailhouse Rock', 'Young Blood', 'On Broadway', 'Yakety-Yak' and countless other classics - has died.
Ernst Jørgensen while talking in Memphis about the progress his long-awaited Sun Book/CD set noted that it could be 'technically finished' by the end of 2011. The plan now is to have it out in
April 2012. We
revealed in July that there were still a lot of corrections to be made however Ernst now says that the the proofreading has been done, but there is still work being made to the audio side of the project ...

What an awesome evening it was. The perfect weather, great friends and a fairly short cue (we guess 4,500 to 5,000 fans in total) made this year's Candle Light Vigil a truly unforgettable experience. Theme song this time was
The 12th of Never. On behalf of Lisa Marie Presley, Kevin Kern read the following message:
If you're a fan of Elvis Presley, you certainly know the photograph entitled 'The Kiss'. The famous
June 30, 1956 black-and-white photo features 'The King' smooching with a mysterious and unidentified woman. The photo became iconic; but even the photographer, Alfred Wertheimer, didn't know who the girl was. Her name, if not her image, remained unknown for years. Who she was remained a mystery. Until now ...

You will see it can stand alone as a quality Elvis photo book period! But then it has the added bonus of being the ultimate encyclopedia on Elvis' stage suits. And that is just the book, to add extra value there are two CDs with two concerts from 1974 and 1975 provided by FTD. And prepare to be stunned, on the first page of the preview you will see one of the rarest and most unusual photos of Elvis Presley from July 31, 1969 live on stage. A good example of the quality of the book and again, its bona fides as a quality photo book in its own right. If you were undecided about this book and what it was about, any doubts anyone could possibly have will be cast aside after seeing this presentation.

this picture indicates, the concert was indeed at least partly filmed.
Elvis My Best Man By
George Klein comes across as an affectionate recounting of the times Klein spent with a man he considered his best friend. Klein called 'GK' by Presley offers a stirring account of how Presley coped with the untimely passing of his beloved mother, Gladys, whom Klein calls 'the anchor in his crazy life'.

The Elvis Military Tour Of Duty 1958-1960 DVD a new DVD release about Elvis' Army years ... Haven't we yet seen all of that? The short answer is: no. The footage comes from a wide variety of sources. In chronological order the DVD shows you the complete story of Elvis in the Army. There is footage you will know and a lot of footage that is not so common, better: very rare! Elvis in Germany and in Paris and even Cliff Richard walking up to Elvis' house only to find Elvis just left ... fantastic! Elvis met by Nancy Sinatra upon his return. Elvis making the joke 'Ari vi derci' during a press conference, something I had only heard before not seen in screen. Elvis induction in the Army as complete as you will ever see it up to the bruises on Elvis' chins during the physical examination. Elvis' arrival in Texas: wow! Read the full deatils / view the cover art.
Elvis, The Beauty Queen & Me Volume II DVD is now available to order. The majority of this second volume with Jeanne LeMay was filmed during Jeanne's trip to the UK in 2008. She was captured talking candidly about her time with Elvis at Graceland, on tour and in Vegas. She openly discusses how she was able to enjoy a close relationship with Elvis through her friendship with Linda Thompson, how she became a secretary at Graceland and what went on during those years. Her memories of those times are funny, fascinating and extremely riveting. Jeanne is a great talker and her warmth comes across beautifully in this 60-minute programme. We are sure that fans will also enjoy some stunning-quality 8mm amateur footage.
In
Elvis Presley, Reluctant Rebel, the little boy from Tupelo who could, Elvis Aaron Presley, finally has the chance to shine through and break the yellowed, cracked veneer that is the Golden Tomb of the American Dream. In the war between Elvis fact and fiction, this highly entertaining and lovingly researched book details the historic, spiritual and commercial aspects of America's Mystery Son, Elvis Presley.
Kathy Westmoreland : Elvis' Voice of an Angel contains 43 photos including numerous pictures of Elvis and Kathy by famed Elvis photographers Bob Heis and Keith Alverson This book spans Kathy's life before, during and after her years with Elvis Presley and includes interviews with friends from all three eras. It was in August of 1970, right after the release of
That's The Way It Is, that the new soprano by the name of
Kathy Westmoreland entered the picture. Kathy, as we soon found out, was not only Elvis' high voice singer, but also his confident, close friend and lover. Kathy continued to stand by his side until his death in 1977.
Here we have a very interesting article that we are honored to bring to you. Author Ed Silverman has given kindly given us permission to present his story of his two encounters with Elvis, the first in Las Vegas 1956 in which he was in the audience for one of the 'Atomic Powered Singers' shows. He did not get to meet Elvis on this occasion but made up for that when he covered Elvis' discharge from the army, interviewing him close up at Fort Dix on March 2, 1960 as an American broadcasting Company TV news correspondent.
Ed's title for the article, is simple, 'Elvis'. And we have decided to keep it as is!
An update on the much anticipated Sun Book and CD set - Ernst Jorgensen says it is 'still quite a bit away'. With the Sun book Ernst says 'there are still a lot of corrections to be made'. As everyone knows this has been a project he has been working on for several years and it is obviously extra special to him and getting everything right is important. Also at this time the '
Young Man With The Big Beat' is Sonys priority and it would not be ideal to put two fairly pricey sets up competing with each other at the same time. Plus they have the other two book projects mentioned above, 'Fashion For A King; and '
Spring of '56' at this time.
The next release from Venus Productions is titled
