Elvis, The Beauty Queen & Me Volume II originally announced in May is still in production but expected to be completed 'soon'. This second volume with Jeanne LeMay is now almost complete. The majority of this DVD was filmed during Jeanne's trip to the UK in 2008. She was captured talking candidly about her time with Elvis at Graceland, on tour and in Vegas. She openly discusses how she was able to enjoy a close relationship with Elvis through her friendship with Linda Thompson, how she became a secretary at Graceland and what went on during those years. Her memories of those times are funny, fascinating and extremely riveting.
Elvis made television and entertainment history with his 'Elvis: Aloha from Hawaii - Via Satellite' concert.
Elvis is Johnny Cash, for a young teenage girl in 1957 he was. She came down the aisle and stopped next to Elvis, her eyes wide with disbelief. 'Johnny Cash!' she said in an excited whisper. We started laughing, but Elvis quickly hushed us and started talking to the girl. She told him how much she loved his records, and how she'd been to one of his shows. Finally, she asked. 'Johnny, would you sing me one of your songs?' ...
Bill Porter, sound engineer on many of Elvis' recordings died on July 7, 2010. Bill recorded nearly all of Elvis' number one hits upon his return from the Army and mixed the sound for Elvis' concerts from 1970 to 1977.
Connie Francis: The first time I saw Elvis in person was shortly after his mother died. He was in the audience front row center at the Sahara in Las Vegas. Knowing that, I was just dying to meet him after the show.
I sang 'Mama' and he started to cry and left the showroom. That was it that night.
Elvis On Tour - MGM 1972 combines performance footage with tapes of television shows, clips from early Presley films, other memorabilia of the great Elvis, and finally, a clear glimpse of the superstar at work.
Every day is a discovery at Elvis Presley’s Graceland in Memphis, and never has that been more true than when the negatives for three never before seen photos of Elvis were uncovered this summer in a collection of papers found in the Graceland office of Elvis' father, Vernon Presley.
Or have they? ...
The Elvis Files author
Erik Lorentzen advises that he was a little bit suprised with this news, since
he has these pictures in his collection for over 20 years. And they will be published in his next release,
The Elvis Files Volume 2.
Due for release at the end of September is
The Elvis Files, Volume 2, 1957-1959.

Christmas Today includes a beautiful, 16-page, full color booklet, with relevant photos and notes. It is cleverly designed so that half is dedicated to CD 1's Christmas songs, and the other half to the Today material on CD 2. A fan may position their preferred cover in the CD case! This Venus release is an essential purchase, most especially for the unreleased moments and fantastic fidelity. Elvis Presley could still thrill a listener in the 1970s, and proof of how hard he worked to do it is found on this compilation.
It was in 1973 that
Vernon Presley wrote and recorded this song called 'Don't Close Your Door', it's the only known recording of Vernon singing, it was originally contained on an audiotape, but it has now been re-mastered. The lyrics are said to be about the marital troubles that Vernon was having with his second wife, Dee at the time.
Harold Loyd: Vernon had a darn good voice. I believe that if he'd ever really tried, he could have made something out of himself. Gladys, Vernon and Elvis, loved to sing, and they had a lot of rhythm.
Welcome To The Jungle : Solitaire is a wonderful compilation of released and unreleased tracks recorded in February 1976. ' There was a man, a lonely man....' is certainly a line the rock singer had on his mind during those early February winter nights behind Graceland's walls, and he felt Neil Sedaka's song could work very well for him. On this CD you can hear the progress from the very first take through the master take.

I really fell for Elvis -- I mean, who wouldn't? We did have a romance, it was quite wonderful, we were on location in Crystal River (Florida), Elvis was away from the madding crowd, it was like a shipboard romance with Elvis.

Jimmy Dean, the music legend and entrepreneur passed away on Sunday, June 13, 2010 at his home outside Richmond, Va. at the age of 81.
Elvis Presley appeared on 'The Jimmy Dean Show' once and Jimmy humorously recounted what a hard time he had getting anything out of Elvis other than a 'yep' or a 'nope'.
Having received the photo book Elvis : The King Of Las Vegas, all of 5 pounds (2.3 kg) and 25cm (10") x 30cm (12") of it, I can say I am just amazed, stunned, I went through it page by page, got to the end, and did it all over again, and there are 360 pages! This is without doubt the best Elvis Presley photo book I have seen. It covers in great style, Elvis' life in Las Vegas from 1956 to 1976 in pictures.

I'm Leavin', recorded in May '71, was such a song. Written by
Michael Jarrett and Sonny Charles,
I'm Leavin' is moody and restrained. Presley did not rely on his pipes to carry this song. Instead he depended on his artistic sensibilities to get the song's story across ... Presley and his group 'committed a good deal of hard, sustained effort' to
I'm Leavin'. They were not rushing through this one. Between takes, Presley acknowledged his fondness for the song, saying, 'Phew man, it's tough, but the thing is worth working on'.

Blue Hawaii is rightfully placed at the top of the Elvis Presley movie list. Both the soundtrack and film are truly essential Elvis. They both represent the Elvis that we would like to remember. Another fabulous soundtrack release from FTD, The alternate 'album' of First Takes works extremely well and the packaging is very stylish. The newly remixed audio quality is astounding - especially on the outtakes. With this release FTD corrects the error with the 1997 issued CD where they incorrectly reversed the stereo channels.

Elvis Presley's collection of the records that influenced his music and put him on the path to fame sold for $75,000. In 1968 The King asked his guitarist, manager and friend
Scotty Moore to transfer his favourite 78s on to reel-to-reel tape. Scotty Moore's letter authenticating the set says: 'Elvis left me the briefcase with the records and asked me to mail the tape back to his house in Memphis. I made a safety copy for myself and kept the records and tape in my studio in Nashville. Elvis never asked for the records to be returned'.

Elvis Presley - Elvis Is Back! (2 LP, 180 g, 45 rpm). The ultra-hyped, hugely celebrated return of the King most certainly did not disappoint. During his military service, Elvis fans waited anxiously for new material. Record label executives worried about whether he'd still be able to crank out the hits. Radio stations were dying for something new for their most requested playlist. It all combined to mount tremendous pressure on Elvis and all involved to deliver something that lived up to expectations. As it turned out, it was worthy of a giant yellow exclamation point on the front cover! Almost immediately after his service time had ended, Elvis entered the studio in March 1960 to record a batch of songs that would go on to become monumental worldwide hits. Elvis Presley's On Stage Sparkles Like Las Vegas
Elvis Hits Jackpot In Vegas : On Stage CD Review.
Presley's first two engagements in Las Vegas yielded good results. He was excited about performing again, and his vocals - deeper, moodier and more nuanced than the gyrating dynamo of mid-1950s - were at a peak as he hit 35 in 1970. His songs and albums were charting high; he was on top again.
