Jimmy Dean, the music legend and entrepreneur passed away on Sunday, June 13, 2010 at his home outside Richmond, Va. at the age of 81. Elvis Presley appeared on 'The Jimmy Dean Show' once and Jimmy humorously recounted what a hard time he had getting anything out of Elvis other than a 'yep' or a 'nope'.

Having received the photo book Elvis : The King Of Las Vegas, all of 5 pounds (2.3 kg) and 25cm (10") x 30cm (12") of it, I can say I am just amazed, stunned, I went through it page by page, got to the end, and did it all over again, and there are 360 pages! This is without doubt the best Elvis Presley photo book I have seen. It covers in great style, Elvis' life in Las Vegas from 1956 to 1976 in pictures.

Elvis Presley's collection of the records that influenced his music and put him on the path to fame sold for $75,000. In 1968 The King asked his guitarist, manager and friend Scotty Moore to transfer his favourite 78s on to reel-to-reel tape. Scotty Moore's letter authenticating the set says: 'Elvis left me the briefcase with the records and asked me to mail the tape back to his house in Memphis. I made a safety copy for myself and kept the records and tape in my studio in Nashville. Elvis never asked for the records to be returned'.

Graceland Gates Damaged and Repaired
The internationally famous music gates at Graceland have been damaged. At around 2.30 a.m. on Friday morning a black SUV drove through the Graceland Gates, in Memphis, Tennessee, damaging them. The occupant(s) then drove up to the mansion, shouted something to a Security Guard and then drove off.

Memphis' oldest record store may have closed it doors at the end of last year but Hal Lansky and the H.A. Balton Sign Company have saved the iconic neon sign and donated it to the 'Memphis Rock and Soul Museum'. From now on, the restored sign shines again in the museum that is located close to Beale St.

In a statement released early this morning, CKx said it would not elaborate on the terms of the 'possible transaction'. Get Down And Dirty 2 CD Set : Gravelroad nailed it
The Get Down And Dirty rehearsal CD release is mind blowing. Gravelroad nailed it. The balance and sound is just great. Very well balanced sound, not from various sources and in stereo. Even the mike trouble is solved, and that was a technical problem of the enigneer in 1970! The missing 24 minuts are in place and finally I can play it without skipping the parts which were too painfull to my ears. They give us more complete recordings in better sound, a re-releases but they make it worth to replace the old one. Gravelroad is Premium Quality.

It's Official ... Zippin Pippin Saved
The mayor of Green Bay, Jim Schmitt, signed an agreement Thursday to buy Elvis Presley's favorite roller coaster during a ceremony in which the city officially acquired the rights to the Zippin Pippin.

Sweet Inspirations Sylvia Shemwell has died
It is with great sadness that we have to report the death of original Sweet Inspirations member Sylvia Shemwell. Sylvia passed away on February 13, 2010. Sylvia suffered a stroke in 2001 forcing her to stop touring with the group and her recovery had been slow, with her ability to speak and sing greatly compromised. Sylvia will be remembered fondly by millions of Elvis fans all over the world.

This is an excellent release no fan should be without it.
The 'parade' footage is good to see as it puts you in the right context with color and b&w footage. The interviews of Elvis' Parents are well worth hearing too. The afternoon show footage is wonderful and electrifying : Here is Elvis in his prime rocking and rolling in front of 11.000 people. Highly recommended.
