A Mini (Pre Release Review) Elvis Presley: 50 Australian Top Ten Hits 1956-1977

I have just been listening to two CDR copies (Disc 1 and 2), made directly from the Sony master for Elvis Presley: 50 Australian Top Ten Hits 1956-1977, and they sound fantastic. Not just the songs themselves, not just the quality, but to hear each track in the order that they charted, and then getting into the 60s all of a sudden a 50s recording comes on and it's just magic!!! Read more about this historic release.

John Lennon and Elvis Presley

One day in 1975, he took me to his son, Sean's playroom, where he kept one of his prized possessions, a vintage jukebox. Plugging it in, he punched one Elvis Presley record after another and bopped around playfully. As Elvis sang Don't Be Cruel in the background, John recalled his first and only meeting with our mutual rock hero. It was a story he relished sharing as much as he did his Beatles memories.

And totally uncalled for explicit discussion of very private matters. So for all those that have emailed me in the past months saying we should not be reporting on her book, you were correct! Here is a poem by club member Maxine Graybill that we really enjoyed and wanted to bring to you on this day, 32 years after Elvis passed and 12 since Maxine originally wrote it. 'I wrote this on a plane trip from Tampa to Memphis on the 20th Anniversary. A lady sat down next  to me, asked where I was going. Memphis I said. Oh you have family there? Yes you could say that, I'm going up for Elvis week. She looked at me like I had suddenly grown an extra head. I politely excused myself and started to write. Hope you enjoy it ...'

Review - Elvis: Vegas '69 Hardcover Book

Elvis: Vegas '69 is a quality hardcover book and is without doubt the best book on Elvis Presley produced to-date ... And it is something altogether new .... It is not a photo book ... It is not an information book ... It is not an interview book. Yes it has all three elements - and in abundance - but the way it is formatted -- presented -- is completely new, refreshing, easy to read or just to flick though - (when time is limited) - and enjoy some great photos of Elvis, or read some quotes taken from the many interviews Ken has conducted.

Review - Elvis 1957 Book (Elvis In Gold)

Elvis In Gold does start with it's first chapter showcasing Elvis posing for photos in his new Gold lame' suit -- including one with the suit's creator Nudie Cohen -- and gives us text with the story of the suit. But after these first pages, the book can be said to be a photo book of Elvis in 1957. And a high quality hardcover one at that! Not 100% essential but this is one book that will definitely be finding a home on my bookshelf.

Review : From Elvis In Memphis Legacy Edition CD set by Tygrrius

When I first heard about the Legacy Edition of From Elvis In Memphis, now upgraded to include Back In Memphis and all of the other songs from the sessions, I was not planning to buy it. As much as I loved them, I had bought these songs countless times over. Then, a new press release announced that From Elvis In Memphis - Legacy Edition was going to include the original mono versions of all of the singles. There, Sony/RCA had hooked me -- I played the mono singles first on Disc 2, and once I heard the quality of their sound, I could hardly wait to go back to Disc 1 and play From Elvis In Memphis proper. I don't know what Sony/RCA did differently this time, but they finally got rid of that sort of muffled sound some of the Memphis tracks had before. Crystal clear. I'm loving this release! What a great surprise!

Elvis Presley’s granddaughter Danielle Riley Keough plays Marie Currie and Dakota Fanning plays Cherie Currie. The lead singer Joan Jett which is played by non other than Kristen Stewart. Photos

Lost Elvis donut commercial found?

Elvis made only one commercial in his life on november 6, 1954 for Southern Maid Donuts. This commercial was broadcast during the Louisiana Hayride. Elvis sang the jingle: 'You can get 'em piping hot after four PM, you can get 'em piping hot. Southern Maid Donuts hit the spot, you can get 'em piping hot after four PM'. This commercial has never been released. George Klein recieved a phone call this week in his radio show. The caller claimed that he received the commercial thru an ex-employee from the production company and that is willing to give the commercial to EPE for free, if they arrange a meeting with Lisa-Marie.

Elvis Presley Video Tupelo's Own Elvis Presley DVD

Never before have we seen an Elvis Presley concert from the 1950's with sound. Until Now! The DVD Contains recently discovered unreleased film of Elvis performing 6 songs, including Heartbreak Hotel and Don't Be Cruel, live in Tupelo Mississippi 1956. Included we see a live performance of the elusive Long Tall Sally seen here for the first time ever. + Plus Bonus DVD Audio.

This is an excellent release no fan should be without it.

The 'parade' footage is good to see as it puts you in the right context with color and b&w footage. The interviews of Elvis' Parents are well worth hearing too. The afternoon show footage is wonderful and electrifying : Here is Elvis in his prime rocking and rolling in front of 11.000 people. Highly recommended.
