Sadness at Graceland Stable as Sun’s Reflection Passes Away
After a full life of roaming the pastures of Graceland for 21 years, Sun's Reflection, a Palomino American Quarter Horse, died of respiratory distress on August 14th, 2009. Sun came to Graceland in June of 1988 following the loss of Elvis' horse, Rising Sun. Sun’s Reflection and Rising Sun came from the same blood line.

Review - Elvis 1957 Book (Elvis In Gold)
Elvis In Gold does start with it's first chapter showcasing Elvis posing for photos in his new Gold lame' suit -- including one with the suit's creator Nudie Cohen -- and gives us text with the story of the suit. But after these first pages, the book can be said to be a photo book of Elvis in 1957. And a high quality hardcover one at that! Not 100% essential but this is one book that will definitely be finding a home on my bookshelf.
Review : From Elvis In Memphis Legacy Edition CD set by Tygrrius
When I first heard about the Legacy Edition of From Elvis In Memphis, now upgraded to include Back In Memphis and all of the other songs from the sessions, I was not planning to buy it. As much as I loved them, I had bought these songs countless times over. Then, a new press release announced that From Elvis In Memphis - Legacy Edition was going to include the original mono versions of all of the singles. There, Sony/RCA had hooked me -- I played the mono singles first on Disc 2, and once I heard the quality of their sound, I could hardly wait to go back to Disc 1 and play From Elvis In Memphis proper. I don't know what Sony/RCA did differently this time, but they finally got rid of that sort of muffled sound some of the Memphis tracks had before. Crystal clear. I'm loving this release! What a great surprise!

Filming is well underway for the new film; 'The Runaways' about the 1970s all girl rock band, 'Joan Jett and The Blackhearts'. Elvis Presley’s granddaughter Danielle Riley Keough plays Marie Currie and Dakota Fanning plays Cherie Currie. The lead singer Joan Jett which is played by non other than Kristen Stewart.
Lost Elvis donut commercial found?
Elvis made only one commercial in his life on november 6, 1954 for Southern Maid Donuts. This commercial was broadcast during the Louisiana Hayride. Elvis sang the jingle: 'You can get 'em piping hot after four PM, you can get 'em piping hot. Southern Maid Donuts hit the spot, you can get 'em piping hot after four PM'. This commercial has never been released. George Klein recieved a phone call this week in his radio show. The caller claimed that he received the commercial thru an ex-employee from the production company and that is willing to give the commercial to EPE for free, if they arrange a meeting with Lisa-Marie.

Alfred Wertheimers classic pictures of Elvis Presley are part of a photo exhibit which will be a part of the new Smithsonian Traveling Exhibition. It Shows Elvis before He Was 'The King of Rock 'n' Roll'. This exhibit will debut at the Grammy Museum in Los Angeles on Elvis' 75th birthday, January 8, 2010. The exhibit will remain there until March 28, 2010 and then travel to museums across the USA throughout 2013. Pete Smith - Apache Elvis
We have been given some sad news today, a great Elvis fan, and one known to many, Pete Smith who ran the Elvis Presley website Apache Elvis, is seriously ill with a disease called PPA (Primary Progressive Aphasia) that affects speech and other parts of the brain. Pete has had to be put in a long term care facility. His nurse said one of the only things he talks about is Elvis, it's because he dedicated most of his life to making sure everyone remembered Elvis. Pete's ex partner, Jen, asks that all his Elvis friends say a prayer for Pete.

Many people played an important roll in Elvis Presley's career, and Dewey Phillips was certainly one of them. He was the one who, 55 years ago today, on July 8th 1954 gave Elvis' very first single 'That’s All Right', a spin in his radio show 'Red, Hot & Blue', broadcast live from Hotel Chisca downtown Memphis. Elvis, Scotty and Bill were hired to perform at the grand opening of the shopping center on September 9, 1954. They did so on a makeshift stage built on a flatbed truck in the center's expansive, unprecedentedly large parking lot. Still relatively unknown outside of Memphis the Memphis Press-Scimitar again misspelled Elvis' name, this time with two S's in Presley. Elvis' appearance at Katz drugstore drew a a huge crowd of teenagers and is MCed by Elvis' former Humes classmate George Klein.

Sillerman Dealt Elvis Default Heartbreak in Vegas
Media baron Robert F.X. Sillerman had a great run until he tried to break into real estate -- with Elvis Presley as his partner. The Vegas project is in default. Plans for a new hotel and convention center at Graceland, Elvis' Tennessee home, are on hold. FX Real Estate fell to pennies a share in April from its February 2008 peak of $7.88 and was delisted from the Nasdaq stock exchange.

A Change Of Mind, As recorded at the Hilton Hotel showroom in Las Vegas, Nevada, September 3rd, 1973, Dinner show is the next release from Straight Arrow (SA 2009-13-02), scheduled for early June, and will contain the previously unreleased Las Vegas September 3rd, 1973 Dinner show. It is very strong concert, containing the only known 1973 version of 'It's Now Or Never', rare 'Polk Salad Annie' performed only twice in 1973, part of 'Jailhouse Rock' and for 'rare live excerpts' fans there are bits of 'Guadalajara', 'Miracle Of The Rosary' and 'Farther Along'. The sound quality is excellent - for a off-line (Audience recording) source.

The new CD release by Audionics label, 'Stranger In The Crowd' Audionics® Stereo 2009-01-2 has been released. The CD contains the excellent August 13, 1970 dinner show recorded live at the International Hotel, Las Vegas. Import collectors first heard this recording as a part of boxed set called 'TTWII - The Complete Works' but all 6 shows was presented in mono (sounding) sound only. Now whole show is in Full Stereo sound, taken from original master tape. There is no noise and balance of instruments and voices is excellent.

Palm Springs has not been on the radar of most Elvis fans except for the other house linked with Elvis in Palm Springs which is nicknamed the 'honeymoon' house. Fontana is quick to point out that the honeymoon house at 1350 Ladera Circle was never owned by Elvis Presley. According to Fontana, the house on Ladera Circle was leased only for 9 months in 1967 under Elvis' father's name of Vernon Presley.

Praytome Publishing have released details of their Multimedia-Box-Set (By Bud Glass and Praytome Publishing). Released in cooperation with the Follow That Dream 2-CD set, Dixieland Delight which features concert performances from May 31, 1975 and June 1, 1975 in Huntsville, Alabama. With so much information about the shows and hundreds of different photos that cover the performances, it would not have been fair to squeeze the existing material into a single book with 144 pages. So the production crew came up with the idea of a package that absolutely deserves the expression of 'a true collector's item', The Multimedia-Box-Set.

The afternoon show footage is wonderful and electrifying : Here is Elvis in his prime rocking and rolling in front of 11.000 people. Highly recommended.
