Next release from Straight Arrow
The next release from Straight Arrow, scheduled for early May, will be previously unreleased Las Vegas September 3rd, 1973 Dinner show. It is very strong concert, containing the only known 1973 version of 'It's Now Or Never', rare 'Polk Salad Annie' performed only twice in 1973, part of 'Jailhouse Rock' and for 'rare live excerpts' fans there are bits of 'Guadalajara', 'Miracle Of The Rosary' and 'Farther Along'. This show was recorded by the same person as Dec. 02nd, 1976 concert and once again for our CD release, an original master tape will be used. The sound quality is excellent - regarding the off-line (Audience) source.

His best albums from the period - Pot Luck, Elvis Is Back, and Something For Everybody -- are presented in their entireties. Even better, RCA has done a good job remastering these tracks (from their original sources) as the sound is pristine.

Fort Chaffee Museum celebrates Elvis haircut anniversary
On March 24, 1958, Presley was inducted into the Army. His time in the Army marked a turning point in his musical career. A large crowd gathered Wednesday afternoon (Mar. 25) to commemorate the anniversary. Jimmy Don Peterson, (a licensed barber) the son of James Peterson, the barber who cut Presley's hair, was on hand to provide free 'G.I. haircuts'. 'I just can't believe how popular this has been. When Elvis the Movie starring Kurt Russell was originally broadcast, it was one of the highest rated TV movies ever, even outdrawing Gone With the Wind, shown opposite its premiere. While a two-hour edited version was released on VHS in the early 90's, it has since gone into moratorium. Fans have created an online petition to get this movie back on store shelves, and I encourage those interested to sign it.

The Inside Blue Hawaii Book / DVD / Vinyl boxset will include a lot of unseen pictures and also some unseen 8mm footage - in colour. The footage will be included on the bonus DVD. Like the previous set there will also be a bonus 45 RPM vinyl single. The Inside Blue Hawaii boxset is expected to be out late March. The reason for the delay is that a lot of unseen pictures and also some unseen color footage has been found.

Several months ago Joe Krein was approached to help promote Elvis Presley's tour bus. The owner, Bill Kinard sent a photo, and right away it was clear that this was NOT Elvis Presley's tour bus. This was in fact the bus for J.D. Sumner and the Stamps Quartet. So imagine our surprise when we awoke yesterday to see news on many Elvis sites with the headlines 'Elvis bus is coming to tupelo'.

George Klein In Car Accident
Legendary Memphis disc jockey George Klein, a longtime friend and associate of entertainer Elvis Presley, was involved in a one-car accident at U.S. 61 and Mississippi Highway 3 about 10:30 a.m. Tuesday. According to Mississippi Highway Patrol Sgt. Leslie White, Klein was traveling southbound along U.S. Highway 61 when he lost control of his vehicle and the vehicle rolled over.

The Elvis Christmas Duets CD has spent Christmas Week in the top 20 - at #20 - in it's fifth week on the Australian ARIA Albums Chart. This is Elvis' highest album chart position since Elvis The King made it to #4 in August 2007. This is Elvis' 28th top 20 hit album. On the Country Chart, the album remains #1 in it's eighth week on the chart. On the DVD chart, Elvis: The King Of Rock 'N' Roll is also in the top 20 this week. The DVD jumped 19 places from #38 last week to sit at #19 in it's 26th week on the chart. It peaked at #4.

Elvis Presley still has the most popular holiday album of all time. Elvis' Christmas Album, originally released in 1957, has sold more than 12 million copies. Presley's album logged three weeks at #1 in December 1957, before surrendering the top spot to Bing Crosby's holiday perennial Merry Christmas. The latest releases from the Official Elvis Presley Collectors Label, Follow That Dream, Elvis In Person a 2 CD Set in the FTD Classic Album Series that includes bonus songs recorded live in Las Vegas in August 1969 plus disc 2 is the complete show from August 22, 1969 (midnight show) and I'll Remember You, a soundboard recording of the dinner show from February 3, 1973 are now in stock. Elvis only sang I'll Remember You at the dinner show and not at the midnight show. Therefore the song is included as a bonus song on the new FTD release. Elvis in great spirits for this show and the sound is outstanding on this release.

This is an excellent release no fan should be without it.
The 'parade' footage is good to see as it puts you in the right context with color and b&w footage. The interviews of Elvis' Parents are well worth hearing too. The afternoon show footage is wonderful and electrifying : Here is Elvis in his prime rocking and rolling in front of 11.000 people. Highly recommended.
