Tourism officials in Tupelo are awaiting word on whether Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi will visit Elvis Presley's birthplace.

According to Variety, Dakota Fanning is currently filming a new movie where she playes a young girl, the victim of abuse, who tries to keep her life together by singing and dancing like Elvis.
Ernst Jorgensen says he has found a new live version of 'That's All Right', recorded in 1955 and that another FTD book / CD project entitled 'Writing For The King' is in the works. A disc of Elvis outtakes and a disc of Elvis songwriters demos will be included.

Uri Geller's dream of turning Elvis' Audubon Drive House into a museum dedicated to the paranormal has been dealt a setback nearly as bizarre as the spoon-bending trick that made the Israeli-born 'psychic' famous. Geller, who thought he had purchased the Memphis property in an eBay auction last month for $905,100, learned on Friday the sellers had turned around and

In August, Coming Home Music is scheduled to release a DVD of content from

My Life Before, During and After Elvis Presley by
John Wilkinson and Nick Moretti has been released. Elvis Presley's TCB Band rhythm guitarist, John Wilkinson, tells his story. The first member of the TCB Band to write a book, Wilkinson describes meeting Elvis Presley twice as a boy and a young man, who left a lasting impression on the King of Rock and Roll. So much so that when Elvis decided to form a band, quit the movies and return to live performance, he tapped John (who was also recommended by Presley's lead guitarist, the legendary
James Burton) to join.

This is Elvis. This 'Special Edition' is a major project that will have a theatrical release as well as eventual release on DVD. Out will go a lot of the early film footage with the Elvis look-alikes and be replaced with more emphasis on the real Elvis and more music.
The DVD of 'Elvis the Concert' is almost ready. The concept of this 2002 show is to present Elvis doing the show, with his musicians backing him up. According to the information we received the result is 'spectacularly good, this will definitely be a winner!'. The release date is scheduled for next June. Fans who travel to Memphis this August, will have the chance to see the DVD show on a big screen. Extra bonus footage includes interviews with band members and co-workers.
Twice Elvis co-star gave up Hollywood for her faith. Dolores Hart, who at age 24 startled the film world in 1962 by leaving a thriving screen career - including two roles opposite Elvis Presley - to become a nun, has returned to Hollywood for her first visit after 43 years in a monastery.

Elvis The Documentaries' is to be released. The CD contains 36 tracks containing material from 'That's The Way It Is' and 'Elvis On Tour'. All the tracks on this release have been remastered. The CD is a picture disc and comes with a 16 page full-colour booklet with photos and memorabilia from 1970 and 1972.
Hundreds of books have been published since Elvis Presley's death yet none have seriously documented the making of his films. Elvis spent more than half of his career making films, yet this critical time period has been essentially ignored by most biographers.
Elvis: Frame By Frame investigates the making of nine of his films, in the words of those that worked on and co-starred in them.

Elvis Presley In Concert, formerly known as Elvis The Concert, will tour in Australia and New Zealand in October 2006. After years of silence, Dr. Nick (Nichopoulos) has decided to put his memoirs to paper. In a 10 chapter book, he tells the story of his first meeting with Elvis, and how he became to be the always-stand-by physician for the biggest celebrity in the world. The book is expected to be released in 2007.
Follow That Dream has acquired an audio recording of Elvis' final performance on the Louisiana Hayride from December 15, 1956. The only other information currently available is that Elvis' performance of Paralyzed is very audible.

When Elvis died at Graceland on August 16, 1977, his will appointed his father, Vernon Presley, who had long handled Elvis' personal, non-career business affairs, as executor and trustee. The beneficiaries were Elvis' grandmother, Minnie Mae Presley; his father, Vernon Presley; and his only child,
Lisa Marie Presley.

Made In Memphis and
Something For Everybody have been released. Made in Memphis is a single-disc regular FTD release featuring outtakes from Elvis' sessions in Memphis in 1969 (American Sound Studio), 1973 (Stax Recording Studio) and 1976 (the den at Graceland).
Elvis The Concert Years 1969-1977 is a book to be enjoyed: it can be read from cover to cover or simply browsed through at random. It is produced in the 'coffee-table' format and will indeed grace any coffee-table, though it probably won't be left on the table long enough to get stained! Buy it, enjoy it; you will not regret it!
There will soon be a new release in the Inside ... book series. This time will it be about the movie G.I. Blues.
Inside G.I. Blues will follow the line of similar projects from Ger Rijff and will contain more than 100 pages of known classic and rare and never before seen pictures from the movie.
Interior Secretary Gale Norton joined Priscilla Presley today in announcing the designation of Graceland, home of the king of rock 'n' roll Elvis Presley, as a National Historic Landmark. Norton made the announcement during a special ceremony on the grounds of Graceland Mansion in Memphis, Tennessee.

Elvis NBC TV Special album will be released in Australia on April 10. Like the name suggests the CD's are made to look like vinyl records and the packaging is like a vinyl gatefold sleave.

Loanne Parker. I first met Colonel Parker in 1969. In the spring of 1969, when he came into Las Vegas to sign a contract for the opening of the International Hotel. And the hotel wasn't even opened at that time. It was still under construction. I was working as a secretary to the advertising and publicity director of the to-be-opened International Hotel.
Elvis at 21: New York to Memphis a new book featuring Albert Wertheimer's seminal Elvis photos from 1956 will be released on October 10, 2006. There will be a regular hardcover with 224 pages a deluxe edition with 248 pages.
Andrew Solt is looking for a video distributor to release all of Elvis' appearances on the Ed Sullivan TV shows in 1956 and 1957. The sound will be available in 5.1 Surround, and will include special features and commentary by Jerry Schilling.
Sony BMG this week released a 50th Anniversary CD Single edition of Elvis' first U.S. No.1 single '
Heartbreak Hotel'. It debuts at No.37 on this week's ARIA Chart, giving Elvis his 120th
Australian charting single. The single had previously reached No.3 in August 1956, and was again a minor chart hit in January 1972 when it was re-released along with the tracks 'Don't Be Cruel' and 'Hound Dog', where it reached No.81. This is the second Elvis single to have charted on a third occassion, the other being 'Are You Lonesome Tonight' which charted in 1960, 1982 and 1987.
Almost eight years after the death of Frank Sinatra, Nancy is determined to make a documentary about her father that would obviously include Elvis. The Sinatra family, keen to avoid the tacky imitators that followed Elvis Presley after his death, took advice from Priscilla Presley on the best way to handle his futuristic retrospective.
As a follow-up to the smashing success of the release of
Elvis: '68 Comeback - Deluxe Edition DVD (3-disc set) and
Elvis, Aloha from Hawaii - Deluxe Edition DVD (2-disc set) in 2004, single-disc DVD releases are coming from EPE in August 2006. As with the deluxe sets, the distributor will be Sony BMG.
Personalised Plates Queensland (PPQ) have launched the very first
Elvis Presley personalised number plates in
Australia. The world's very first Elvis theme plate outside of Memphis. The plates were released and launched at the 2006 Collector Plate Auction last Wednesday night.

Interview with Connie Stevens. While on the set of 'Hawaiian Eye' Connie was told she a telephone call from
Elvis Presley. She didn't believe it, but in fact it was him, inviting her to a party, saying he would come to her house and pick her up personally. They dated for a time and she says they remained lifelong friends.
Released later this month is the latest book from JAT Productions titled

A revised version of the
Elvis Behind The Image Vol. 1 DVD has just been released. With 8mm film, this DVD shows us the 'man behind the image', the private citizen Elvis, his residences and the interior of his houses in California. Before this DVD was released there had been a black hole in Elvis' known life - totally unknown and unexplored. Because of the revision the running time extends up to 99 min.
Elvis' loyal sidekick, Charlie Hodge has died at age 71. Charlie lost his battle with lung cancer Friday March 3rd. Charlie was diagnosed with lung cancer in December 2005 and despite this, he continued to perform at Memories Theatres for the love of his fans. Charlie first met Elvis on the transport ship from the New York to Germany, September 1958, although they appeared together on a Red Foley show in 1956.
Fifty years ago a song inspired by a suicide note and sung by a greasy-haired new musical talent entered Billboard's pop music top ten. The song was '

. The singer, as Life magazine put it, was a 21-year-old 'hillbilly who howls'. His name was Elvis Presley. The American music scene would never be the same.

he DVD documentary has the last ever footage of the late Al Dvorin who died tragically in a car crash within just 28 hours after the filming, and the DVD is dedicated to his memory. Loanne Parker (the widow of the late Colonel Tom Parker), also agreed to go on camera for the first time and discuss the intimate details of her experiences with Elvis, The Colonel and the TCB Gang. Only 900 copies have been produced of this DVD and it is claimed that it will never be re-released. Present at the filming were:

2006 marks the 50th Anniversary of several historic moments in the early career of Elvis Presley. One of them is the informal '
Million Dollar Quartet' jam session with Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee Lewis and Johnny Cash* at Sun Studios on December 4th 1956. To mark the Anniversary, Charley Records will be releasing a special edition 2CD set.
Sony BMG will release the '
Heartbreak Hotel / I Was The One' CD single in Australia on March 10, 2006. The single will also contain an alternate version of the legendary song 'Heartbreak Hotel'. This release will be a standard CD single.
Ernst Jorgensen confirmed that at this stage the plans for the July 2006 releases are a Las Vegas soundboard recording from January or February 1974 and the 'Clambake' soundtrack in the Classical Album series. There is a possibly for an additional Classic Album release.
FTD will release
Made In Memphis and a deluxe edition of
Something For Everybody in April. Made in Memphis features outtakes from Elvis' sessions in Memphis in 1969 (American Sound Studio), 1973 (Stax Recording Studio) and 1976 (the den at Graceland). There is an additional 5-song set of home recordings made at Sam Thompson's place in November 1973.
Lisa Marie Presley was married to musician and producer Michael Lockwood on January 22, 2006. The traditional Japanese ceremony took place in Kyoto, Japan.

The 'parade' footage is good to see as it puts you in the right context with color and b&w footage. The interviews of Elvis' Parents are well worth hearing too. The afternoon show footage is wonderful and electrifying : Here is Elvis in his prime rocking and rolling in front of 11.000 people. Highly recommended.
