Fifty years after it was first released in the United States, Elvis Presley's "That's All Right" is a hit in Great Britain. But for BMG, the company releasing the track, the celebration might be short-lived. If there are no changes in European copyright law, the track will fall into public domain Jan. 1, 2005.

Elvis did make number one this week in the UK, on the 12 inch vinyl singles charts. According to OCC data it sold 5,016 copies - this is despite the fact that it is a 10-inch single and was supposedly limited to 5,000 copies in this format.

Bill Randle, one of the most influential, star-making disc jockeys of the 1950s and 1960s died Friday, aged 81. Bill was pivotal in bringing Elvis Presley to the ears of America and was the host for Elvis' first TV appearance on the Dorsey Brothers Stage Show on Jan 28th, 1956.

Bill Haley crossed paths with Elvis on a number of occasions. Remarkably, it was on Bill's 29th birthday, on 6th July 1954 that Elvis Presley made his first record That's All Right, Mama in the Sun Studios in Memphis, Tennessee.
The '68 Comeback Special' DVD has now qualified for Platinum status in Australia with BMG shipping in excess of 16,000 units. The DVD is selling well and is expected to top the ARIA Music DVD chart next week. 'That's All Right' is also selling well in Australia and looks set for a top 20 or possibly top 10 chart position.
This week has seen the re-release of Elvis Presley's That's All Right to

'That's All Right' has reached number two on the official U.K. Top 40 singles mid week chart. With just 1000 copies short of the No.1 spot, there is a chance that if all U.K. fans all get behind the single and purchase a few extra copies today, Elvis will have his 19th No.1 single in the U.K.
Elvis Presley has been honoured by the UK's postal service with a set of four
unique Royal Mail stamp sheets. The stamps are being released to commemorate the
50th anniversary of the birth of rock 'n' roll, which officially took place
yesterday (July 5th).

Elvis will be the centre of attention for much of the Australian media next

Elvis Presley could soon be back on top of the charts with his 19th UK number one hit. The U.K.'s Mirrior newspaper says "Fans have already been flocking to order the single and HMV says it is destined to be number one".
Due to a fault on "Aloha From Hawaii" DVD the title will now
be released in Australia in the week of July 19. The 68 Comeback

puts the original director's working scripts for "Tickle Me" and "Spinout" on
the block. These collector's items were the property of Norman Taurog. Highest

CBS is whipping up a big hunk of burnin' love for the King of Rock 'n Roll a new
four-hour movie about Elvis Presley. The film, tentatively titled "Elvis" will
be the first-ever TV movie to use the master recordings of some of Presley's
biggest hits, according to Variety.
Ernst Jørgensen will co-host five radio programs about Elvis on the Danish
station radio DR this summer. The programs will run for one hour each and have
the following themes ....

Elvis: The Birth of Rock N' Roll we clearly have what I would refer to as a repackage, meaning that the distributor, Kultur, has taken an aging documentary on Elvis Presley originally titled
Elvis: The Beginning (1992) and dressed it up into something it's not.
Ray Charles, the Grammy-winning crooner who blended gospel and blues in such crowd-pleasers as "What'd I Say" and ballads like "Georgia on My Mind," died Thursday at his Beverly Hills home surrounded by family and friends, a spokesman said. He was 73. Elvis recorded his compositions "I Got A Woman" and "What 'd I Say".

"The Complete Word For Word" Vol. 2 will be released this month. The CD will
contain all interviews, radio spots and other material that was not available
when volume 1 was released as well as a previously unreleased
interview.
The Double CD The 50 Greatest Love Songs has just been released in China. The two CD's contain the same tracks as the edition that we already know. The difference is in the way that it is packed. This edition comes in a small box that includes a lyric book.

flyer for the CBS miniseries "Elvis" which is produced for 2005 with the cooperation of Elvis Presley Enterprices so Elvis' own music can be used.

On June 21th BMG Sweden will release a 10 inch vinyl single of "That's All
Right Mama". It will come in a brown paper cover. The b-side will contain "Blue

A new documentary DVD "The Birth Of Rock And Roll" will be released in the USA on July 27, 2004. The DVD contains the story of Elvis Presley's early experiences on a cross-country tour and the Louisiana Hayride, as told by early associates and original Elvis guitarist Scotty Moore. Buy from

The 'parade' footage is good to see as it puts you in the right context with color and b&w footage. The interviews of Elvis' Parents are well worth hearing too. The afternoon show footage is wonderful and electrifying : Here is Elvis in his prime rocking and rolling in front of 11.000 people. Highly recommended.
