The April 1st FTD release will now be titled "The Impossible Dream". The CD will be a concert recorded live at The International Hotel, Las Vegas in January 1971 (Catalog number 82876 59845-2). The main body of the show is from the Dinner Show on January 28th. As the recording of the show has several flaws it has been necessary to replace certain parts with recordings from the opening night on January 26th, as well as fixing the intros of Johnny B. Elvis Fans All Shook Up Over Plan to Sell Bits of Reel
At 11 a.m. today, in a midtown Manhattan music studio, a handful of record
industry veterans will huddle around a reel of tape they say is an original
master from the historic 1954 recording debut of Elvis Presley. Then, after a
brief introduction, the tape will be chopped to pieces, however
BMG's Ernst Jorgensen says it's a copy of the mastertape.
"We [RCA] have the original and Sam had only one tape machine, and he certainly
didn't have the money to run two tapes at the same time," he said.

Filmmaker shares reels on Hollywood hush-hush
On a wall of Jim Forsher's home office, there is a framed clipping from a 1956 newspaper with a headline that reads, "The Job Every Girl in America Would Love." The photo shows a pert secretary taking notes on a steno pad while her boss, apparently dictating a letter, reclines on an office couch. The secretary is Forsher's mother. Her boss is Elvis Presley.

Jake Hess Dies At 76
Jake Hess, a four-time Grammy winner who sang with some of the premier quartets
in gospel music and influenced the career of Elvis Presley, died Sunday after a
heart attack Dec. 16. He was 76. Jake, whose career spanned more than 60 years,
was one of Elvis Presley's favorite gospel singers, leader of the Statesmen
Quartet and with the Imperials backed Elvis on his Grammy-winning gospel album
"How Great Thou Art". Jake Hess performed "Known Only To Him" on Elvis' funeral.

Elvis At Sun CD Box Set Update
As already mentioned, BMG are planing a three CD set titled
"Elvis at Sun". In a recent interview with ICE Magazine,
Ernst Jorgensen says that "hopefully BMG will have a three CD set with
everything Elvis ever recorded for Sun, from the worst sounding acetate ever -
of the Louisiana Hayride - to all the Sun masters. It will be very limited,
probably just 5,000 copies, a labor of love". The set is planned for release in
June, 2004.

From the recent EPE press release we have news of the following Elvis Presley CD release's. On March 23, BMG will release "Elvis Ultimate Gospel". This single disc CD will contain the greatest hits from Elvis' extensive gospel recordings. In June, shortly before the 50th anniversary of "That's All Right", BMG will release "Elvis at Sun", a new, comprehensive collection of Elvis Presley's Sun Records recordings. Yesterday the follow up to "ELV1S 30 #1 Hits" and "Elvis 2nd To None", titled "Anthology" was also announced.

Review : Fun In Acapulco FTD CD
Fun In Acapulco was filmed on location and the scenery is spectacular. The soundtrack has a Latin feel and is musically different from any other Elvis Presley album. This soundtrack was released in November of 1963 and quickly became another hit album for Elvis reaching number three on the charts.

Among the nearly one million Elvis artifacts in Graceland's collection are 6,000 items of clothing. The 'parade' footage is good to see as it puts you in the right context with color and b&w footage. The interviews of Elvis' Parents are well worth hearing too. The afternoon show footage is wonderful and electrifying : Here is Elvis in his prime rocking and rolling in front of 11.000 people. Highly recommended.
