The JAT book, "Elvis Sessions 3", will now be reased early next year. Joe Tunzi says the information has finally reached the cut off stage and I think everyone will appreciate the reason for the extra time it took to get this project done. There are more than a few surprises, all of which have been supported. I understand the frustration of the many fans who want this book, but once it's out, it's out forever and I have only one chance to make that happen. And I want it to be my best chance. Common sense tells me people understand this. Thanks for your patience.!
All shook up, indeed.
Elvis Presley's granddaughter, Danielle Riley Keough, has been signed by IMG models - and she's just 14 years old.
A U.S. appeals court has brought down the curtain on a film documentary about singer Elvis Presley, saying it made improper use of copyrighted film, photo and musical material ... In a dissent from the three-judge ruling, Judge John Noonan wrote the court did not properly take into account the public interest in the Presley biography and called the decision "a miscarriage of justice".
Pegging the day Elvis Presley recorded a version of Arthur "Big Boy" Crudup's
"That's All Right" - July 5, 1954 - as the date "rock" and "roll" were married,
Memphis will celebrate 2004 as the 50th anniversary.

It seems that we will have to wait a bit longer for the Aloha From Hawaii and 68
Comeback DVDs. According to Elvis My Happiness the likely release date
for these two DVDs is now June 22, 2004 whereas EPE say this is one of the
likely dates being considered but the release date has not been "locked in"
yet. The DVD 'Elvis Lives' with 40 minutes extra is scheduled for January
13, 2004, and the CD 'The Ultimate Gospel' will be in stores on March 23,
2004.

Elvis always remained Elvis. He always stayed true to his past, his roots, and never attempted to be something he wasn't. He deeply felt he had a lot to offer the world, but was always extremely careful never to preach, or influence the public with his own personal philosophy and religious outlook. He did consider himself blessed, and for a while he wasn't sure just where destiny would lead him. He definitely felt that God had given him the great gift of his voice to use as his instrument for reaching out and inspiring people.
In its second week on the World Album Chart, Elvis 2nd To None slipped three places to #6. Rubberneckin' rose two spots to #17 on the Combined World Airplay & Sales Chart but slipped eight places to #15 on the World Sales (Only) Chart. The single has now been on the Combined chart for 5 weeks and for 6 weeks on the Sales Only chart.
As already announced the January 1, 2003 FTD release will be
"So High". This CD will feature
outtakes from Elvis' Nashville sessions during the 1966-1968 period and will
also include gospel takes from "How Great Thou Art", "Guitar Man Sessions" and
maybe the Jan. '68 sessions. (This will finalize the Nashville trilogy that also
includes "
Fame and Fortune"
and "
Studio B"). Also set for

1961 The Benefit Concert in

Elvis 2nd To None was a Hot Shot Debut on the World Album Chart, coming
in at #3. It amassed 216.000 points, well behind the #1 album, Dido's
'Life for Rent', wihich tallied 416.000 points. Rubberneckin'
slipped to #7 on the World Singles Sales Chart and to #19 on the World Sales
& Airplay Chart.
The Elvis hunter is staring at his plate, a mound of gravy-covered meat that is clearly not the cheeseburger he ordered .... Ernst Jørgensen explains to a waitress, who is hovering near the table. 'We think that he might have played in Covington in 1955, and we're trying to find someone who was at the show'.
With Elvis' debut single 'That's All Right' as the first track on
'2nd To None' it's great to see that Mojo magazine has just named that July 1954 song as the key world-changing moment in popular music, ahead of both The Beatles and Bob Dylan.
Inside Loving You, the new Ger Rijff book is ready and released in the next couple of days. It's another true 'Rijff Classic' with lots of fantastic pictures of Elvis. The book is very moody beacuse of the many stunning black and white pictures. There is a colour section and lots of memorabilia to be seen plus some very funny notes with some pictures. The cover just looks like a vinyl album sleeve.

Click Here, the promo campaign for Second To None, you can find a video of an unreleased version of "Baby What You Want Me To Do", from a NBC "stand-up" show.
Just like during his lifetime, Elvis is everywhere on the Australian charts this week. The highest debut album is Elvis 2nd To None at #4 (it also debuted this week in England at #4) with Elvis 30 #1 Hits also re-entering the chart at #32 with a bullet. Rubberneckin' is the #1 Dance track for the fifth consecutive week and also moved up one place to #15 on the Singles chart. Elvis 2nd To None shipped at Gold status and should reach Platinum status later this week.
A British museum is facing a battle with the government over its plan to import a collection of handguns once owned by Elvis Presley.
BMG is using some fascinating promotional activities for 'Elvis 2nd To None' (aka "E2"). French Elvis fans are in for a real treat with E2 "branded" taxis cruising the streets. In Seattle, USA whole shopfronts have been plastered with E2 promotion and in Munich, Germany, E2 street posters are everywhere. Meanwhile, BMG has already shipped 2 million units of E2 globally with a target of 3.5 million by 31 December, 2003.
Ernst Jorgensen was interviewed this week on The Bob and Tom' radio show in the USA. Ernst announced BMG has plans for 'E3', a follow-up album to 'Elvis 2nd To None' featuring 25 of Elvis' lesser known songs.
Rubberneckin' achieved a major double this week on the World Singles Sales &
Airplay Chart. It rose nine places to #3 (sales) and #15 (sales &
airplay), but more importantly it registered the 'biggest points increase' for
airplay and the 'greatest sales increase' of any single! In Australia the
single slipped four places to #16 but continued its dominance as the #1 Dance
track. In England the single slipped four places to #9.
Much has been made of the fact that Lisa Marie Presley didn't start her professional singing career until she was in her mid-30s, but let's face facts -- if you were the daughter of Elvis, you'd be in no rush to hear the criticisms and comparisons, either.
Actress Julie Parrish, who appeared with Elvis in Paradise, Hawaiian Style has died. The cause of death has yet to be announced. This is the official media release from Elvis Presley Enterprises:
If you're a fan of Elvis and live within an hour's driving distance from Las Vegas or Los Angeles, a Monster House could be in your future. Monster House on the Discovery Channel is a show about a team of design and construction pros who come to your house and remodel it. The owners must be willing to live in an RV for a week and are not allowed to see the house until it is finished.

We have just received the cover art for the next FTD release "Takin' Tahoe
Tonight!" and you can view it

Elvis scored yet another top 5 in England when Rubberneckin' debuted (as expected) at #5. Dot Music noted in its chart comments that the Oakenfold remix lacked something compared to last years's mega hit, Elvis vs JXL. In Australia, Rubberneckin' fell three places to #12. Elvis 30 #1 Hits also exited the Australian ARIA Album Top 50 Chart this week.
Elvis - The King Of Stage And Screen a 12 Month 2004 Elvis Calendar has
just been released in Australia and is now available from
ElvisPresleyShop.com.
Rubberneckin' has debuted in the World Singles "Sales" Chart at #13 (with a
bullet). Lack of airplay in many countries is stopping the song from appearing
in the combined Top 40 World Sales/Airplay Chart. The chart is compiled
based on returns from 22 countries around the world.
Rubberneckin' has shipped more than 70,000 units to retailers in Australia. This means it has reached Platinum status. The single had reached Gold status during its first week of release.
The second Elvis Presley
song to chart on the Billboard Hot 100 in the 21st century extends the king's reign on the Billboard pop singles chart. "Rubberneckin'" (BMG Strategic Marketing/RCA), remixed by producer Paul Oakenfold, is new at No. 94, giving Presley a rock-era chart span of 47 years, six months and three weeks, counting back to the March 3, 1956, debut of "Heartbreak Hotel."
Rubberneckin' dropped to #9 in its 3rd week on the ARIA Singles Chart. It continued to hold the #1 spot on the Dance Chart for the 3rd consecutive week. Elvis 30 #1 Hits continues its run in the Top 50 Albums Chart at #47 (after 38 weeks).
The special edition of 30 #1 Hits will now be released in Europe on
November 3. There will be a second bonus disc featuring 15 classic rare and
unavailable tracks. Pre-order from
ElvisPresleyShop.com. The bonus
tracks (on the second disc) will be-
Heartbreak Hotel / All
Shook Up / Teddy Bear - Don't Be Cruel / A Big Hunk 'O Love / Stuck on You (take
1) / It's Now or Never (takes 2 & 3) / Surrender (take 2) / His Latest Flame
(rehearsal and take 2) / She's Not You (take 2) / Devil in Disguise / In The
Ghetto (take 11) / Burning Love / Way Down (take 2) / In The Ghetto (vocal only)
/ A Little Less Conversation (extended remix)
As expected, Rubberneckin' debuted at #1 on this week's Billboard Sales
Chart. Unfortunately, like Elvis vs JXL (also #1 in USA sales), it is
unlikely the single will make much of an impact on the USA chart
"bible", the Billboard Hot 100, as that widely publicised chart is
based on airplay and sales (with airplay being the dominating factor!).
According to Soundscan, the organisation that records sales through the cash
register, the single sold 11,000 in its first week. Last year, Elvis vs
JXL sold 26,500 in its first week at #1.

Was Elvis' musical output in the 1970's aimless, obsessive or something else? In his latest article for Elvis Australia, Paul Simpson, noted author of The Rough Guide to Elvis, provides a thought provoking analysis of an emotionally distraught singer and how it affected his musical recordings.
Rubberneckin' slipped one place to #4 on the ARIA Singles Chart in its second week, but was #1 on both the ARIA Dance Chart and the Australian Top 30 MTV Video Chart for the second consecutive week. Elvis 30#1 Hits slipped to #49 on the ARIA Albums Chart for a total of 37 weeks in the chart.

Rubberneckin' sold around 7,500 copies in Australia during its first week on
sale in Australia. While well short of the sales of the #1 selling
single, it was less than 200 units behind the #2 single. As of today
it has shipped less than the 70,000 units required for Platinum
certification. We'll have an update on final figures for this week on
Friday. The single also debuted on the Aussie MTV Music Video chart at #1
last Thursday.
It wasn't to be! Expectations were high that Rubberneckin' would debut on the Australian ARIA Singles chart today in the top position. Unfortunately, The Black Eyed Peas with Where Is The Love? continued its chart dominance this week with Angel by Amanda Perez in second spot. However, Rubberneckin' at #3 was the highest debuting single on the chart. Rubberneckin' did debut at #1 on the ARIA Dance chart and Elvis 30 #1 Hits moved up two places to #45 on the ARIA Albums chart (it has now been in the Top 50 a total of 36 weeks).
The booklet examines Elvis' early years with a nice mix of interesting & rare photos, press clippings and interviews. The CD has high productions values featuring eight songs that Elvis is rumoured to have performed but have not yet been released. Screen legend and one-time co-star with Elvis, Charles Bronson has died of
pneumonia, aged 81. Bronson co-starred with Elvis in the 1962 film, Kid
Galahad, and it was widely reported they didn't get along. Bronson later
found fame as a screen "tough guy" in films such as the Death Wish series,
Chato's Land, From Noon To Three and the acclaimed thriller, Rider On The
Rain. The actor got his first break on television, co-starring in The
Travels Of Jamie McPheeters with a young man who would later appear as Elvis,
Kurt Russell. Coincidentally, Kid Galahad is being released on DVD in
Europe this month.
The planned Aloha and '68 Comeback Special DVD release's will now be "sometime in 2004" rather than this year. The releases were set for September 2003 however there have been delays. Also read

Ernest Withers's fame comes from his skill with a camera and his ability to be in the right place at precisely the right time. So, of countless images in the world of Elvis Presley, the ones by the renowned Memphis photographer are of special interest. Elvis had this thing for music, you see, especially gospel and R&B. As Withers puts it: "He began to show up at musical events where I happened to be."

She told Jane magazine in its September issue, "I saw a Velveeta commercial, and it was playing, I think, 'Burning Love.' He had approved it--that's something we can't control. He can do whatever he wants with the songs he owns to make money, and that got under my skin."
