Book - The King
From his beginnings in a shotgun shack in Tupelo, Mississippi, to his
untimely death at Graceland, Elvis' life story is stunningly revealed in
detail, in words and hundreds of pictures, on a scale that dwarfs anything
previously published.
Topics include his childhood and early career, his
army years, his rise to superstardom, his Hollywood years (in this section each
film is explored in detail and illustrated with stills and posters), Elvis in
Las Vegas, his many women, and the industry that has sprung up around his image.
The lively text by Jim Piazza, author of The Academy Awards and Four-
Star Movies, includes lots of inside information, behind-the-scenes gossip, and
details every Elvis fan needs and wants. A discography, a chronology, and
timelines round out this awe-inspiring overview of our most enduring and
influential contemporary entertainer. And the eyepopping package-featuring a

The 'parade' footage is good to see as it puts you in the right context with color and b&w footage. The interviews of Elvis' Parents are well worth hearing too. The afternoon show footage is wonderful and electrifying : Here is Elvis in his prime rocking and rolling in front of 11.000 people. Highly recommended.
