Elvis The King #6 in Australia

Elvis The KingElvis has two albums in the top 100 Australian albums chart this week. Elvis The King drops to #6 from a high of #4 after four weeks and Viva Las Vegas containing a previously unreleased concert, recorded at The International Hotel in Las Vegas, August 21, 1969 drops to #85.

Elvis The King reached Gold status last week and has now been certifed as such by ARIA.

On the DVD chart Aloha From Hawaii and the Elvis '68 Comeback Special remain #2 and #3 respectively. Both are certified double platinum.

In New Zealand Elvis The King is #3 on the top 40 album chart and is certified Gold.

Last week the single Feelin' In My Body featuring the vocals of Australian Elvis tribute artist, Mick Gerace backed up by Elvis' original back-up singers, The Sweet Inspirations reached #76 on the singles chart.

Last week Elvis had five albums in the top 100 Australian albums chartElvis The King was at #4 after three weeks and reached Gold status, Viva Las Vegas #63, Elvis Live #77, ELV1S 30 #1 Hits #85 and Elvis At The Movies #95. Early Elvis dropped out of the chart after one week at #74.

70,000 units of the Elvis Catalogue have been sold in Australia in the last 8 weeks.

The King is Elvis' first top 10 album for almost four years, his last being 2nd To None which also hit No.4 in October 2003.

Elvis last had five albums in the Australian top 100 in August - Sept 1997, when he had the five on the chart for three weeks in a row. The last time he had more than five albums on the chart was 1977.

Within weeks of his death on August 16, there were as many as eleven Elvis Presley albums simultaneously in the Australian top 100 Albums chart.

On the week of September 5 there were the 11 Elvis albums in the top 100. The new release, Moody Blue was #8, Rock 'N' On #43, Rock 'N' On Vol. 2 #47, Elvis In The 70's #54, Welcome To My World #58,  Blue Hawaii #68, G.I. Blues #72, The Elvis Tapes #80, Elvis' Golden Records Vol.1 #82, A Legendary performer Vol.2 #87 and Elvis In Demand #89.

(On that week, the 1973 album Aloha From Hawaii actually dropped back out of the top 100 after spending just one week back in the list.)

Moody Blue was on the chart the day he died, entering the chart on August 15 and reaching a peak of #3 with a 29 week run.

On the tenth anniversary (1987), his album Words & Music reached the top 10 peaking at No.8 while a decade ago on thetwentieth anniversary, five of his albums made their way into the chart.

Elvis Presley Video Tupelo's Own Elvis Presley DVD

Never before have we seen an Elvis Presley concert from the 1950's with sound. Until Now! The DVD Contains recently discovered unreleased film of Elvis performing 6 songs, including Heartbreak Hotel and Don't Be Cruel, live in Tupelo Mississippi 1956. Included we see a live performance of the elusive Long Tall Sally seen here for the first time ever. + Plus Bonus DVD Audio.

This is an excellent release no fan should be without it.

The 'parade' footage is good to see as it puts you in the right context with color and b&w footage. The interviews of Elvis' Parents are well worth hearing too. The afternoon show footage is wonderful and electrifying : Here is Elvis in his prime rocking and rolling in front of 11.000 people. Highly recommended.
