Ticket Information - Advance tickets will be distributed at the Guest Services desk in the Graceland ticket office pavilion each day during regular business hours, starting January 7. You may choose in advance, subject to availability, all the screenings you wish to attend and pick up all your tickets at one time. In fairness to all, you may have only one (1) ticket per selected screening and cannot obtain additional tickets for friends. Each individual must go to Guest Services to obtain his/her own advance tickets. (This does not prevent you from sitting with friends who are there. The seats/tickets are not numbered.) Any unclaimed tickets for a particular screening will be available at the door of the theater.

'68 and Aloha Sneak Preview Screenings - January 7-11, 2004

In mid-2004, EPE will release through BMG, new comprehensive DVD/video compilations of the material from Elvis Presley's 1968 television special Elvis and his 1973 television special Elvis: Aloha from Hawaii, via Satellite.

As part of the Elvis Presley Birthday Celebration at Graceland, EPE are offering free screenings of significant portions of the new releases.

As most fans know, for the 1968 special, Elvis taped two "sit-down" jam session shows and two solo "stand-up" shows for the portions of the special in which he is seen wearing black leather. At the end of his two stand-up shows, he taped some material to be used in the assembly of one of the big production numbers - thus the term "production number pickups" you see indicated on our screening schedule. The January screenings will include the two sit-down shows and the two stand-up shows in their entirety, plus the production number pickups. If you attended the screening event we had in August for Elvis Week, note that the edit you saw then was preliminary. This is a new edit. Also for the January screenings we've added the complete takes of the finale of the show, Elvis' performance of If I Can Dream in the white suit. You'll see all three takes and his false start, plus Elvis' taping of the phrase "Huh-huh-huh,"(a la All Shook Up) for use in an NBC promo for the show.

As most fans know, for the 1973 Aloha from Hawaii special, the broadcast concert occurred on January 14. It went out live to some countries and on taped delay to others. It was first seen in America on April 4. For expanded content for the American broadcast Elvis and the band went back out on stage in the empty arena to record "nsert"songs. For the January screenings, we have chosen to focus entirely on the broadcast concert and on the uncut taping of the insert songs. If you attended the screening event in August, you saw the regular edit of the broadcast show with a few "lost" elements added back in. For our January screenings you will see the broadcast show completely re-edited from scratch, presented in its absolute entirety and with virtually all the montage screen effect (trendy for 1973) eliminated. You will also see in its entirety the taping of the after-concert insert songs. For those few who might have a concern, do note that the few instances of playful cursing in that after-show taping have not been bleeped out. (The rehearsal show Elvis shot on January 12 has also been re-edited from scratch for the new releases. But, we'll schedule a screening of it some other time because the re-edit of the broadcast show is so exciting and we want everyone to have ample opportunity to see it. In August we screened the full-length "helicopter arrival" footage, but didn't manage to squeeze it into the January screening schedule.)

Quite a lot to screen for you, but do keep in mind that there will be lots more in the new releases. EPE are focusing on some of the more exciting elements for the January screenings and are offering repeat showings to accommodate everyone who wants to attend the screenings and to work around the other Elvis Birthday events. Another reason for the repeats is that seating in EPE's small theater is limited.

Screenings are at the videotheater in Graceland Plaza. Tickets are free and may be picked up at Guest Services in the ticket office pavilion, starting January 7. Further ticket information will be posted later.

As soon as all content for the DVD/video releases is absolutely finalized and the release date is locked in, we will post detailed information in News on our site.

Elvis Presley Video Tupelo's Own Elvis Presley DVD

Never before have we seen an Elvis Presley concert from the 1950's with sound. Until Now! The DVD Contains recently discovered unreleased film of Elvis performing 6 songs, including Heartbreak Hotel and Don't Be Cruel, live in Tupelo Mississippi 1956. Included we see a live performance of the elusive Long Tall Sally seen here for the first time ever. + Plus Bonus DVD Audio.

This is an excellent release no fan should be without it.

The 'parade' footage is good to see as it puts you in the right context with color and b&w footage. The interviews of Elvis' Parents are well worth hearing too. The afternoon show footage is wonderful and electrifying : Here is Elvis in his prime rocking and rolling in front of 11.000 people. Highly recommended.
