The wonderful Work In Progress: The Companion Album 2 LP + 45RPM + CD set is packed with unreleased tracks like : Blue eyes crying in the rain, The fool, Susan when she tried, Help me, Funny how time slips away and many many more. In 1980 Felton Jarvis, Elvis' record producer for the last decade came to the remarkable idea to freshen up some of Elvis' recordings. The idea was to add totally new backing tracks to Elvis' voice. This resulted in the 1981 record release of 'Guitar Man'. You hate it or you love it is probably the right thing to say about the album. Felton was convinced Elvis would have loved it. The original album contained 10 songs. But Felton worked on a bunch of other songs to see if they would suit the project. This special LP / CD & 45 RPM set contains many of those unreleased versions that never made it to the record. Also included are some unreleased unfinished versions of tracks that did make it to the final GUITAR MAN album.

Southbound was originally released in 1998 featuring the August 31 1976 show from Macon Georgia. The 7th tour of 1976 is not known as being the best tour in Elvis' career. During this particular show Elvis appeared demotivated. He was definitely struggling to get to the end of this engagement. Most likely the crowd never even noticed this as they go wild like always as Elvis delivered a mediocre performance.
FTD Vinyl's next release upgrades 'Love Letters From Elvis'. Recorded during the marathon sessions held in Nashville, June 4-8, 1970, the original LP became the last album of utilising songs recorded during that week. This new 180-gram heavyweight vinyl edition mastered at Abbey Road and features a FESTIVAL of outtakes and masters.

August 1974 is a remarkable period in Elvis' career. A new Vegas engagement was ahead of him and Elvis and his loyal musicians had plans for a new and refreshing show, which they were going to perform for a two week period. Probably to avoid getting bored from doing the same year in and year out, they went to rehearse some new songs to create the new setlist. Fortunately, the rehearsal from August 16 was recorded on a 2 track cassette deck and is presented here in its ultimate form. Originally released way back in 1995 it was time for an update.

Recently I had cause to reevaluate boxes for sending LP Vinyl Records. What I found was all boxes specifically designed for records had variable reliability protecting the record if dropped on a corner. (Which can and does happen in transit). It depended a lot on the grade of the cardboard used and I found no 'off the shelf' supplier adequately covered. Recently we were out of record mailers so we used a BOX - and I do mean a 'box'!!! - one meant for sending wine bottles. I realized that this gave
100% protection.

This resulted in the 1981 record release of 'Guitar Man'. You either hated it or you loved it is probably the right thing to say about the album. Felton was convinced Elvis would have loved it. The title track 'Guitar Man' written and first performed by
Jerry Reed was one of the tracks considered for the album. Jerry Reed was part of the original recording by Elvis in 1967 and now Jerry Reed was back in the studio with Felton Jarvis to work on the new album. Besides the guitar work he also recorded a 'duet' version of the song.

The 'parade' footage is good to see as it puts you in the right context with color and b&w footage. The interviews of Elvis' Parents are well worth hearing too. The afternoon show footage is wonderful and electrifying : Here is Elvis in his prime rocking and rolling in front of 11.000 people. Highly recommended.
