Elvis Presley Home

The King is gone, but his daughter intends to be back - or at least that is the promise Lisa Marie Presley made to fans after the final show of her Australian tour last Sunday.

Performing at the Crown Palladium, Presley and her band pulled off a gutsy and surprisingly moving show, with Elvis' daughter showered by gifts, flowers and the occasional marriage proposal, from the reverent audience.

But the show did not stop after the stage lights went down.

Unlike many touring acts who choose hot night spots, exclusive clubs, pricey bars or five-star restaurants to wind down in after their show, Presley, her mum Priscilla, band and entourage kept the party going at P.J. O'Brien's pub at Southgate.

In true rock-star fashion, mother and daughter were chauffeured in separate cars the one block from Crown Towers to Southgate, arriving about 11.30pm.

Presley and her party of 30 did not book the venue, nor request a private VIP section.

Instead they mingled with drinkers, danced to the house band and Presley enjoyed a couple of pints of Guinness.

Among the revellers were a 100-strong Welsh choir that was passing through Melbourne.

'At one stage there were about 100 blokes standing around serenading her in Welsh," recalled an observer'.

'I don't think she had a clue what they were going on about, but she enjoyed it'.

'There were some pretty happy Irish people going up and chatting to her and she did not seem to mind'.

After the band finished its set, Presley started requesting songs - nothing by Elvis -- though she resisted the temptation to get up on stage and join the jam.

Presley left the building about 4am, telling her fellow carousers that she was nine songs into her next album, which is being produced by Grammy winner Linda Perry, and planned to be back in Melbourne in September.

Elvis Presley Video Tupelo's Own Elvis Presley DVD

Never before have we seen an Elvis Presley concert from the 1950's with sound. Until Now! The DVD Contains recently discovered unreleased film of Elvis performing 6 songs, including Heartbreak Hotel and Don't Be Cruel, live in Tupelo Mississippi 1956. Included we see a live performance of the elusive Long Tall Sally seen here for the first time ever. + Plus Bonus DVD Audio.

This is an excellent release no fan should be without it.

The 'parade' footage is good to see as it puts you in the right context with color and b&w footage. The interviews of Elvis' Parents are well worth hearing too. The afternoon show footage is wonderful and electrifying : Here is Elvis in his prime rocking and rolling in front of 11.000 people. Highly recommended.
