Each year one song outperforms all others to be the highest-selling single in Australia. Chart statistician Gavin Ryan has compiled the 50 biggest-selling singles in Australian chart history.
 
'Can't Help Falling In Love' is Elvis Presley's only entry as being the biggest seller in 1962. In 1961 Elvis had the number 2 song of the year with 'Wooden Heart'.
 
Elvis had a single in the top 10 every year from 1959 to 1965. No other artist has done such a thing, the Beatles only having a top 10 year end hit in four of their charting years. 'Can't Help Falling In Love' was not Elvis' biggest-charting song, that honour goes to 'It's Now Or Never' in 1960, but this song did spend 5 Months in the charts, and was the number 1 single for 1962. It was also Elvis' sixth No. 1 song of 11 in Australia.
 
The Beatles are the only artist or group to have more than two songs make the number 1 spot with 'I Want To Hold Your Hand' (1964) and 'Ob La Di, Ob La Da' / 'While My Guitar Gently Weeps' (1969)

The afternoon show footage is wonderful and electrifying : Here is Elvis in his prime rocking and rolling in front of 11.000 people. Highly recommended.
