Elvis a Hit with the Herald Sun Melbourne

Elvis Australia has been working hard this week to encourage the Australian newspapers to not only review and/or mention the release of this CD but also letting them know that January 8 is the 75th anniversary of Elvis' birth and to encourage them to feature an article on Elvis. Our phone and emails have been running hot!
We have been quite successfully with the first task, the second has proven more difficult but we have had some success. The Herald Sun decided after talking with us that they did want to to run an article to mark the anniversary and asked if the albums co-producer Wayne Hawthorne would be able to help with a photo shoot. They wanted to get a fan with a lot of memorabilia in a photo – and they have - this will be in Fridays Herald Sun, January 8, 2010. (In the end they have run the article minus photo, which is on page 16)
Sydney's Daily Telegraph decided to move their review of the CD from Sunday to this Friday January 8.
Perth's The Western Australian added a mention into an existing article. Published this Friday January 8.
The Adelaide Advertiser ran a review in the Thursday, January 14 edition.
Queensland's Courier Mail ran a review Saturday, January 30.
The Sunday Tasmanian (The Mercury - Tasmania) ran a review Sunday January 7, Entertainment Guide.
With radio stations it was much more difficult as most are not playing a lot of Elvis but we have been in contact with several including one major Australian network who have promised to see what they can do. We discovered Queensland's Brent James of 4KQ 693 had already been on to Sony - keen to promote the release.
This Sunday Morning (6am-10am) January 10 Brent James 4KQ 693 Brisbane will be playing some Elvis studio out takes each hour to mark the anniversary and their Jukebox Saturday Night program on January 16 from 6pm with Dave D. Whitcomb will play Elvis songs plus there are some copies of the CD to give away.
And Gavin Ryan who wrote the liner notes for the Australian Top Ten Hits 1956-1977 CD will devote much of his weekly radio show on 3AW 693 Melbourne to Elvis and the album, reviewing it, discussing and playing the songs -- this Saturday January 9, between 5-6pm. Gavin will also be giving away copies of the CD.
* The booklet features single artwork
* The CD label is inspired by Elvis' first LP release in Australia.

Tupelo's Own Elvis Presley DVD
Never before have we seen an Elvis Presley concert from the 1950's with sound. Until Now! The DVD Contains recently discovered unreleased film of Elvis performing 6 songs, including Heartbreak Hotel and Don't Be Cruel, live in Tupelo Mississippi 1956. Included we see a live performance of the elusive Long Tall Sally seen here for the first time ever. + Plus Bonus DVD Audio.
This is an excellent release no fan should be without it.
The 'parade' footage is good to see as it puts you in the right context with color and b&w footage. The interviews of Elvis' Parents are well worth hearing too. The afternoon show footage is wonderful and electrifying : Here is Elvis in his prime rocking and rolling in front of 11.000 people. Highly recommended.
