Tom Cruise's imitation of Elvis Presley
Tom Cruise's imitation of Elvis Presley on Jay Leno's show.
Tom Cruise appeared on Jay Leno's 'Tonight Show' Thursday to promote his new movie, WWII drama 'Valkyrie', but wound up sharing his musical ambitions and Elvis Presley impersonation in the process.
When host Jay Leno asked Cruise if he'd ever consider doing Broadway and musicals, he replied, 'Yes, I'd like to do a musical', then confessed he had enjoyed performing in 'Guys and Dolls' in high school.
Leno then asked Cruise if he'd ever sung on television, and he answered 'No, I haven't...we should do that now', before breaking into Elvis' 'Blue Suede Shoes'-- tentatively at first, but as the audience egged him on he picked up momentum. Finally, he jumped off the couch to do a little hip gyration as Leno shouted 'Yeah! Yeah!'
Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes were already married when they tied the knot in a spectacular million dollar wedding at a fairytale Italian castle. Cruise's agent revealed the couple had a legal ceremony in America before flying to Italy, as the Church of Scientology service is not recognised there.
The wedding music included several Elvis songs

The 'parade' footage is good to see as it puts you in the right context with color and b&w footage. The interviews of Elvis' Parents are well worth hearing too. The afternoon show footage is wonderful and electrifying : Here is Elvis in his prime rocking and rolling in front of 11.000 people. Highly recommended.
