The Complete Million Dollar Quartet Session Vinyl Release
Details:
Memphis, Tennessee: December 4, 1956. The very young Elvis was already an idol-girls screaming his name on every street corner. While back at Sun Studios, three friends get ready to play his backing band: Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee Lewis and Johnny Cash. A long jam session begins with Elvis calling the shots with the authority and simplicity of a king-a king by the name of Elvis Presley. The four friends run through their impressive repertoire of gospel, country, rockabilly, doo-wop, blues, and R&B, in other words, the best of the American tradition. One can almost see them all hanging around the piano, sharing a microphone, smiling and just playing it loose and easy, tuning their instruments while deciding what the next song will be. These sessions, brought to you here for the first time in their entirety, represent one of the true historic moments in pop music. Over 78 minutes long, this extraordinary release is available on double picture disc, destined to be a true collectors item.

The 'parade' footage is good to see as it puts you in the right context with color and b&w footage. The interviews of Elvis' Parents are well worth hearing too. The afternoon show footage is wonderful and electrifying : Here is Elvis in his prime rocking and rolling in front of 11.000 people. Highly recommended.
