Mary Ann Mobley, a former Miss America, and Elvis' leading lady in Girl Happy and Harum Scarum, passed away December 9 at her home in Beverly Hills, California, at the age of 75. In recent years, she'd battled Crohn's Disease and breast cancer.

Mary Ann Mobley the former Ole Miss majorette, Miss Mississippi and Miss America who was the co-star of two 1965 Elvis movies.Mary Ann Mobley apparently is something of a Southern toughie herself. The 5-foot-5 Miss Mississippi of 1958 was the first flower of the Magnolia State to blossom into a Miss America, in 1959. Mobley's most popular movies remain her Elvis musicals, MGM's colorful Girl Happy, and Harum Scarum. Mobley is seventh-billed in the opening credits of 'Girl Happy', but she steals the show (and almost steals Elvis) from headlining actress Shelly Fabares.

This is an excellent release no fan should be without it.

The 'parade' footage is good to see as it puts you in the right context with color and b&w footage. The interviews of Elvis' Parents are well worth hearing too. The afternoon show footage is wonderful and electrifying : Here is Elvis in his prime rocking and rolling in front of 11.000 people. Highly recommended.
