Elvis Presley Promotional CD's - Australia has issued some very nice promotional CD's. Two of these are always in constant demand by collectors worldwide.

Cream Of The Catalogue
Cream Of The Catalogue
Cream Of The Catalogue (GILBEY 1) - This CD was compiled and issued by Chris Gilby in Association with Leiber & Stoller Music, Elvis Presley Music, MCA Australia and Chris Gilby Limited, so the packaging details say. The master where obtained from BMG / RCA Records and it came with extensive liner notes.

Although the reason given for the issue was said to be 'This CD represents some of the finest songs in the Elvis Presley Music, Gladys Music and Leiber & Stoller catalogues'. I believe it was issued because Chris Gilby is an Elvis fan from way back and just happened to be in the right place at the right time (for him) to have this CD prepared and issued, most selectively to print music companies under the banner of MCA / Gilby Empire within Australia. Overseas collectors of Elvis CD's have put this at the top of their want lists and copies do change hands for outlandish figures. This is the hardest CD to find.

The Cream Of The Catalogue features 25 Elvis tracks, Don't Be Cruel - Ready Teddy - Love Me Tender - Too Much - All Shook Up - (Let Me Be Your) Teddy Bear - Loving You - Mean Woman Blues - (Let's Have A) Party - Jailhouse Rock - Treat Me Nice - Wear My Ring Around Your Neck - Hard Headed Woman - Trouble - Girl Of My Best Friend - Wooden Heart - Surrender - Flaming Star - Little Sister - (Marie's The Name) His Latest Flame - Follow That Dream - Return To Sender - Suspicion - Ain't That Loving You Baby - Little Egypt.

Not long after this promo was released BMG Australia issued the CD 'Elvis A Celebration' (ENTCD9002) which contained 18 songs from 'Elvis The Musical' but more importantly these 18 tracks are the same used in Cream Of The Catalogue and the liner notes are word for word on both CD's.

Elvis : Off Camera
Elvis : Off Camera
Elvis Off camera (PROCD 21029) - This CD was given away at Chandlers Music Stores shops with the 'Elvis Presley - A Life In Music' 4 CD set during August 1997. This ten track promo contains songs from six Elvis movies.

Tracks : Can't Help Falling In Love (Movie Version), Shoppin' Around, Doin The Best I Can, Rock-A-Hula Baby, Trouble, King Creole, Jailhouse Rock, Loving You, (Let Me Be Your) Teddy Bear, Love Me Tender (Stereo)

Elvis Presley : A Life In Music (PROCD 20131) - This promo was attached to the Australian magazine 'Elvis The Legend Lives Forever' issued in a soft cardboard jacket, it is a copy of the European promo given away to BMG delegates who attended the 1997 conference, Australia was represented and a few copies returned here. There was one track different, 'Johnny B. Goode' replaced 'Way Down'.

The Music He Loved
The Music He Loved
Elvis : The Music He Loved (PROCD 21032) - The second promo from the 'A Life In Music' 4 CD set. It was given away by the HMV Music chain. This six track promo CD was to advertise the Australian CD's 'More Romantics' and 'Gospel Favourites'. This was RCA/BMG Australia's first own promotional CD.

Explosive Sync Hits (PRD98329) - This CD contains only one Elvis song, 'Way Down'. The song is an original from the festival Music 'print' publishing catalogue. A very nice CD and a very scarce item indeed. The cover is an exact re-issue of the 70's vinyl compilation album with the title 'Explosive Hits '75' released by EMI Music.

Elvis : The Movie Years
Elvis : The Movie Years
The Movie Years (PROCD 21104) - The second Australian only issue promo. This ten track promo was issued with the imported 3 CD set 'Artist Of The Century'. It was only given away at selected branches of the  'Leading Edge' chain of stores, as part of a Fathers day promotion, and could not be purchased separately.

The Movie Years will become a very hard item to collect as most Elvis fans bought one copy of the AOTC box for their collection and that was it. They will not be interested in trading because the 3 CD set is too expensive to justify buying a few extra copies.

The songs come from ten different Elvis movies, starting with 'Loving You' and ending with 'Charro'. (Viva Las Vegas, Flaming Star, Loving You, Follow That Dream, King Creole, Wild In The Country, Blue Hawaii, G.I. Blues, Charro, Roustabout.)

Elvis Presley Video Tupelo's Own Elvis Presley DVD

Never before have we seen an Elvis Presley concert from the 1950's with sound. Until Now! The DVD Contains recently discovered unreleased film of Elvis performing 6 songs, including Heartbreak Hotel and Don't Be Cruel, live in Tupelo Mississippi 1956. Included we see a live performance of the elusive Long Tall Sally seen here for the first time ever. + Plus Bonus DVD Audio.

This is an excellent release no fan should be without it.

The 'parade' footage is good to see as it puts you in the right context with color and b&w footage. The interviews of Elvis' Parents are well worth hearing too. The afternoon show footage is wonderful and electrifying : Here is Elvis in his prime rocking and rolling in front of 11.000 people. Highly recommended.
