George Klein Own's Elvis Duets
'Duets' means, Carl Perkins added his vocal to the 'Blue Suede Shoes' track, Larry Gatlin to 'Help Me' and Jerry Reed to 'Guitar Man'.
We do not know for sure as George has not let anyone hear the track but we do now believe that the Elvis track used is a live recording from August 1969 -- If this is the case, the track without Carl Perkins' vocal can be found on the FTD CD - Too Much Monkey Business.
How the New Came Out
George contacted Elvis Australia, it was right after we published our article on Elvis and Carl Perkins. George is a member of the club so got the message like everyone else and emailed us saying 'i have a recording of elvis and carl doing blue suede shoes..its a killer..and rca doesn't seemed interested...george klein'.
Now on receiving this, we immediately thought of The Million Dollar Quartet - then, maybe it was from one of the times Elvis had, according to Perkins, dropped in on one of his sessions at Sun in the 50s. Now that was an exciting prospect!!
As George said he had already been in contact with 'RCA' - we put him in contact with someone what would buy although no deal has yet been made and it looks unlikely it will be.
Ernst Jorgensen has since said: 'He has tried to sell them to us, and we told him that he has no rights to sell the tape for commercial use'.
The big problem is unfortunately these recordings are simply not going to be that popular making it difficult to agree on a purchase price.

The 'parade' footage is good to see as it puts you in the right context with color and b&w footage. The interviews of Elvis' Parents are well worth hearing too. The afternoon show footage is wonderful and electrifying : Here is Elvis in his prime rocking and rolling in front of 11.000 people. Highly recommended.
