Warner Brothers Senior Vice-President of Catalog Marketing George Feltenstein has provided more details on the 12 outtakes included as special features on the 'Elvis: That's The Way It Is : Two Disc Special Edition
due out on August 12. As suspected, the content mirrors that of the 2007 2-DVD set, except with a new twist. On DVD, the outtakes were presented in abysmal quality, but on Blu-ray, they will be pristine.
'The Blu-ray has high-definition, incredible new presentation
, [and an] all-new master, but we also have, with really impressive quality
, additional songs that were not included in the Special Edition. They were on a prior DVD but ... we were unable to locate the actual master tapes that had the outtakes, and, finally, now, that tape was located
, and that is now on the Blu-ray.

Hollywood Elvis 4 : the saga continues!! contains a total of 65 clips on DUAL layer DVD from the movies, Viva Las Vegas, Roustabout, Girl Happy, Tickle Me and Harum Scarum. The producers of this great series deliver their next gem with an amazing total of nearly 50 (!!) NEW clips! This will probably be the fans favorite since it finally includes Viva Las Vegas! Does this need further introduction, we think not, but there are still fans out there thinking it simply includes the regular movie versions ... how wrong they are!
From the press release
: Dave Hebler
is the 10th degree black belt 'kenpo karate' champion who was hired by Elvis himself as his personal bodyguard in 1972. During the next four years he became friends and confidant with the King. For the first time on film he tells about how they met, the crazy vegas years and how he experienced first hand what drugs did to Elvis. He also tells how the firing itself took place and what led him and two other bodyguards, Red
& Sonny West
, write the sensational book 'Elvis what happened' in 1977. The three received a lot of criticism from fans after the book (and still does), and now with the release of 'The Elvis Experience by Dave Hebler DVD
' Dave finally answers back. Judge for yourself

The shows Elvis gave during 1971 in Las Vegas, Tahoe and on the road are not widely known to many Elvis fans. Not many good photos were taken, not many press and news reviews were written.

God is the Bigger Elvis
is a serious and sympathetic documentary made by HBO focusing on the early 1960's actress Delores Hart who left Hollywood and joined the enclosed Benedictine Abbey of Regina Laudis and is now its prioress. The film was nominated for the 2012 Academy Award for Best Documentary. In 1957, Dolores Hart co-starred with Elvis Presley in the Paramount motion picture Loving You
. It was in this film that she kissed Elvis. This was Elvis' very first on-screen kiss in a movie. Both Dolores and Elvis would reunite the following year in Michael Curtiz's King Creole
. The Abbey of Regina Laudis, founded in 1947 in Bethlehem, Connecticut, U.S.A., is a community of contemplative Benedictine women dedicated to the praise of God through prayer and work. There is a bittersweet aspect to this story. Watch part of this DVD
Elvis and the Beauty Queen
is a 1981 made-for-TV film starring Don Johnson and Stephanie Zimbalist about the King's love affair with Linda Thompson
a young beauty pageant contestant who was his girlfriend during the last years of his life. The story begins with their first meeting and traces their years together. The movie is controversial among fans who either dislike Don Johnson and/or his portrayal of Elvis and pick out factual flaws. However on the flip side there are many, like myself, who enjoyed this movie when originally aired, finding the soundtrack songs by Ronnie McDowell making the movie all the more then enjoyable.
The colorized version of 'Jailhouse Rock' has been released on bootleg DVD.
'Elvis & Me' is a mini-series based on Priscilla Presley's best-selling book of the same name. Starring Dale Midkiff as Elvis and Susan Walters as Priscilla, the movie stays true to what Priscilla wrote in conjunction with Sandra Harmon and was a ratings blockbuster when aired on TV over two nights in 1988. While this movie has never seen an official DVD release, we have now an 'escape' well worth catching
Now on DVD is a colorful collection of Elvis songs with the theme: 'Duets
'. During his movie career, Elvis recorded a vast amount of songs together with other vocalists
. The result is a wide variety of songs and video clips out of the many well known Elvis movies. An entertaining collection that is nice to watch. Rare are the images of the 1960 'Welcome Home Elvis' Frank Sinatra TV-Special; they remain a unique momentum to see. Other rare performances include Lisa Marie's duet with Elvis on 'In The Ghetto' during a Oprah Tv-show
, complete with Gospel Choir. It is beyond anyone's guess why this never turned in to a big hit; great performance. Also: Celine Dion's duet with Elvis on 'Amercian Idol'
and Martina McBride appearing - with Elvis on screen - on a tv-show to promote the 'Christmas Duets' album
. The odd one out is a clip from 'Beyonce & Jay-Z'. A nice produced DVD with a special selection of songs and images
Elvis : The Lost Performances DVD
contains material found by accident in the vaults during a routine inspection in 1986. We get Elvis material from 'That’s The Way It Is
' (1970) both on stage and rehearsing, and performances from 'Elvis On Tour
' (1972). For anyone who suspected that the producers of the excellent 'That's the Way It Is' had more worthwhile concert footage available to them than they included in the final release, here it is! Fascinating stuff. The DVD really shines and is an essential purchase for any Elvis fan.
I just had the chance to finish up watching the new DVD release, Elvis : He Didn't Come Back ... We Did. I just love seeing 'That's The Way It Is' material in this kind of quality without the big, annoying 'Property of Turner' text on the screen. The small type on the 'On Tour' material is the way to go and so much less obtrusive. 'Elvis : He Didn't Come Back ... We Did' DVD contains nearly 100 minutes of further outtakes from 'That's The Way It Is' & 'Elvis on Tour' and contains unreleased material from both [as well as some we have had before but with different camera angles] and also for first time in original widescreen.
The re-edited version Elvis, Aloha from Hawaii
includes new and rarely-seen footage and audio
, received rave reviews from critics and fans alike. This special 40th anniversary edition offers a new look at Elvis
during one of his most outstanding concert performances of his career. Released August 30.
Release o' the week: Love Me Tender
. [Democrat & Chronicle
] Elvis Presley's first film arrives on Blu-ray today with extras including commentary (by an Elvis historian) and several featurettes. While it's far from my favorite E.P. movie, I will say The King looks pretty amazing here - even when he's dying onscreen.
